We stayed at a motel adjacent to Exit 110 from the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Looking for breakfast at 9:30 am, we found this was the only place nearby open to serve breakfast. Located in a 50's looking stainless steel diner building. Opens at 5 am, and open till 10 pm weekdays, 11 pm weekends. My wife had the oatmeal. She said it was thick, well-textured and appeared to be house-made, rather than instant. She was very pleased. I had a western omelette. The key to a good western omelette, in my opinion, is to have the onions, peppers and ham well sauteed before they go into the omelet pan. That's what was done here, so it gets a high rating in my book. Served with your choice of white or wheat toast. They have a take-out menu also. Coffee was OK. Quick service from friendly staff, one of whom informed a customer (a person she clearly knew) that his friend's having twins did not concern her (the server) because she had one, that was sufficient, and she was now abstinent. Love this place- it's like stepping back in time. Every detail is retro, from the booths to the floors to the old school jadeite-colored milkshake machine. In the area on a whim and the summit was within walking distance and on the outside it promised to be everything a diner should be - inside kept the promise - the decor was classic and vintage diner - the food was great - a butcher in house and everything was homemade - real mashed potatoes - I had the chicken salad - with walnut - cranberry and blue cheese - warm fresh chicken - yum yum yum. My friend had the hot roast beef with real mashed potatoes - loved it. Also shared a Hugh slice of Graham cracker pie - Hugh selection of fresh pies. We stopped here on our way home from the Flight 93 Memorial. The Diner is cute and casual and perfect for a traveling family. The food is very cheap AND very tasty. My daughter had the favorite Goober Burger with bacon, peanut butter and jelly. I tried it and thought that it was just ok but she loved it. I had the Chloe Burger and it was fantastic. It was a juicy double burger with swiss cheese, thousand island dressing and sauerkraut. The bun was so soft and yummy I couldn't get enough. My son had the build your own omelet and he said it had to many onions. The pancakes were good and the Sweet Potato fries were the best choice of side. I went twice this past week and got the breakfast special both times. The first time I added on a short stack of pancakes. I got the same server both times and she was terrific. As she told me, they try to sell as much locally produced product as they can. Somehow they do it at a very low cost. The best of the best is a combo of the coffee, syrup, and sausage. My goodness is the sausage good. The pancakes were blah. I would just stick with the multi grain toast. Way better. This is home cooked food, don't come here with the idea you'll eat abd leave in 20 minutes. Today's special was chicken and waffles with gravy. Everything on plate was fresh made. French toast was done well plenty of cinnamon and cones with very crispy bacon. But best of lot may have been the roast beef sandwich. Definitely one of those great small town diners. The staff is extremely friendly and the facility is usually very clean. The new restrooms are quite nice as well. The food is the best part, by far. My go-to is a bagel sandwich with ham and provolone with an egg and hot sauce on top. The bagel is always cooked to perfection. They have a wide variety of other foods I highly recommend as well. Perfect diner experience. We stop here any chance we get when passing through and have never been disappointed. We have always had friendly service and wonderful food. And the price is right! A true diner lets you order off the whole menu and Summit does just that. Today at 8:45 am my mom had a full breakfast for $4.99 and I had a jalapeño cheeseburger and we were both happy. And, their shredded hash browns are my favorite. Though we didn't get it this time, we will probably stop in a couple of days on the way home for a piece of gob cake- it's like a Suzy Q on steroids! Let me start by saying that the Summit Diner probably has the best breakfast I've ever had. However, our last visit was probably the worst experience I've ever had at any restaurant in my life. We were promptly seated, places our order, and proceeded to wait for our food. After a half hour and seeing many patrons come and go in the meantime. I asked the waitress. Her reply, "Food should be up in a minute." Another 30 minutes pass. I ask again. Only at that point did the waitress do something. She came back to our table and said, "the order slipped off the counter. You can leave if you want." No sorry. No apology. Just basically, "get out". And the bad part - orders have "slipped off the table" more than once for us here. So my suggestion: if you want a great breakfast come to Summit Diner. But if you need to be somewhere that day or aren't willing to take the risk of a long, extended visit, go somewhere else. read more

I had the Roast beef and my wife had the Turkey sandwich. They were both very good. The service was good and the food came out quick. It's a cool diner worth checking out. I was disappointed in the dessert. I had the Gob cake and it was dry. I brought it home. I should be able to save it with some ice cream. They refused to sell me a whole pie. They looked awesome and I wanted to take one home. It says on the menu that they are take out only but I guess that also means you have to pre-order it. Over all it's very good. Freezing cold in the back dining area. I didn't even remove my wool coat and was still frozen to the bone. They said they couldn't turn the heat up after we asked them to. Told us to move to the front, but there was no seating available! My fish dinner was dripping in oil and tasted like cardboard. My son and father got gob cake TO GO and she brought it out on plates to eat in. NO refills on our drinks without asking SEVERAL times and still that took til we were finished eating. When I complained to the waitress she responded rudely rather than simply apologizing about the wait. We came here because of the yelp reviews after a long drive. We are so happy we did, the service was excellent. The food was yummy and the bill was cheap. The pies look like works of art. Food was very tasty. Had the western breakfast. Basically the breakfast special piled on top of each other with some mushrooms peppers and onions. It was a bit busy there but not an excuse for the time it took for our food to arrive or the additional time for the hot sauce and syrup to be brought. Went and grabbed it myself. All in all I would certainly eat there again, the place was clean, friendly and is a classic diner. Just won't make it the destination, but perhaps as I pass through somerset. read more

What a sleepy little town! Our server wasn't the most attentive and there wasn't really anyone else in there that she was taking care of. The food was definitely the saving grace.
