Tasty menu (especially the fresh cuts fries, made with potatoes from the farm down the road), and great service (Dawn was wonderful)!

The food and service were really pretty good. So glad they stopped allowing smoking in the building.

I accidentally stumbled upon this establishment on Friday night, and I was pleasantly surprised! I…read morewas driving through Six Mile Run and was instantly drawn in by the building's beautiful curbside appeal so I just had to pop in for some suds. Upon entering, I was welcomed by the warm aromas of Marlboros in the air and the comfortable sounds of Aerosmith on the juke. I quickly scanned the crowd and noticed that everyone was fully clothed in stonewashed denim, so I knew this is where I had to spend my Friday night! When it came time to order a brewsky, I was treated like royalty... I locked eyes with my bartender and she knew exactly what I wanted before I even opened my mouth to speak. It was as if my gorgeous young bartender and I were on the same brain wavelength! Within a matter of seconds, I had an ice cold Smirnoff Ice sitting in front of me just asking to be enjoyed. I attempted to open the bottle with my weak fingers, but I just couldn't get it off. Fortunately, my lovely beverage provider was nice enough to use her pearly whites to rip that pesky cap off the bottle. Talk about service! While sipping my Smirnoff Ice, I perused the menu and noticed they offered 75 different flavors of chicken wings. My lovely bartender offered to make one of each flavor for me if I was having trouble deciding, but I politely declined. I had my mind set on only one thing - the salmon entree with two house sides. I placed my order and decided to spend the extra 25 cents to upgrade to the Bumble Bee brand salmon. I was very happy that they offered this upgrade opportunity, because I've recently decided that I want to be more health conscious and only eat the finest canned salmon. In what seemed like an instant, my dinner was presented in front of me and it looked delectable! The two house sides ended up being Waldorf salad and potato cakes - yum! One thing that separates Rookeez from other fine establishments is the food plating presentation. Rookeez is the first place I've ever been that actually opened the can in the back kitchen and dished the salmon onto the plate, as opposed to serving the salmon in an unopened can. Bonus points for this slick move! While eating the most delicious food on the planet, I enjoyed the tunes that were pumping through the establishment and tickling my ears. The eclectic mix of music was really enjoyed by all patrons. I will note here that the music selection is another distinguishing element in what separates Rookeez from other establishments. For example, as we all know, Aerosmith is the only music permitted during dinner hours at all restaurants and bars on the east coast. However, Rookeez is a bit more progressive than normal, and they permit all musical genres during dinner! It was so refreshing to hear some of my all-time favorite jams while chewing on my onion-riddled potato cakes! In addition to jamming out to Boy George and Rick Astley, I was lucky enough to witness one of the most amazing displays of unity as the entire bar held hands and sang "Gin and Juice" 14 times in a row! After 4 more Smirnoff Ice drinks, I paid my $3.70 bill and headed on my way. As I walked out the door, I couldn't help but think about how lucky all the townspeople are to have such a fine establishment in their town. I will be back, Rookeez!

I gave The Greene Turtle a second try after learning that they expanded and reopened the outdoor…read moredeck, which was my favorite part about this place when it used to be Santa Fe Grille. And I must say they did do a great job on the expansion! The deck is beautiful and spacious, and it wrapped around both sides of the building, and it has a lot of different seating options some with umbrella tables not undercover, and then there is a large portion undercover where the outside bar is located. Then one big screen, TV and a couple small screen TVs, which was perfect since I came there to watch opening day of Steelers football. The bartender Steve was super nice, and there were quite a few regulars at the bar. They had some great game day specials for beer and for cocktails and you could also get buckets of beer. The also had some appetizer specials during football games. They have happy hour that I believe starts at 3 PM Monday through Friday. I think they have improved their menu for the better since I was last year a few years ago. I had a tall Michelob Ultra for five dollars as a game day special and then I have a skinny margarita is my second drink. I was happy to see that they had protein bowls on the menu, which came with a base of mixed grains, greens, chopped tomatoes, black beans, and roasted corn, and then you could add one of four proteins, I added blackened shrimp and it did come with 11 shrimp on top. You could also pick a sauce to go with, I tried to lime creamer, which I didn't really like that much and they actually brought me a tomatillo that was spicy and tasty. I would definitely return here on a nice day to sit on the deck and a few beverages. You can see the lake from the deck expansion. In fact, we may return tomorrow for lunch! They also have live music on the patio on the weekends.

Our server was friendly, but we only saw her twice during the entire meal. Everything arrived cold--fries, wings, burgers, chicken, and the kids' mac and cheese was overcooked and dried out. The manager personally apologized and stated he was cooking. He took responsibility, explaining they didn't have a cook scheduled for the noon rush. I appreciate the honesty, but the long wait, lack of service, and poor food quality made for a disappointing experience. Photo is my "double burger" the size of a silver dollar and a boneless wing for reference.
