What a beautiful experience with Bloom Cupcakes!…read more I had the absolute pleasure of working with Lorrie, the owner of Bloom Cupcakes, and I cannot recommend her enough. I found her online while planning a last-minute 90th birthday celebration for my mother, and I was immediately drawn to the elegance and artistry of her cupcake designs. I knew I didn't want the typical IG cake covered in thick fondant. What I wanted was something unique, beautiful, and fitting for such a monumental occasion. With only a week to go, I reached out, and Lorrie picked up the phone right away. From our very first conversation, I felt at ease. She didn't sugarcoat her availability or make empty promises. She was honest, realistic, and incredibly thoughtful in walking me through what she could create given the time and my vision. She asked all the right questions: about the theme, colors, decor, and what I hoped the cupcakes would convey. That same day, she sent me a sketch of her design plan, and I knew I had found the right person. Lorrie delivered exactly what she promised: gorgeous, custom cupcakes that wowed every single guest. Not only were they stunning to look at, but they were also moist, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. She even offered to help set them up at the venue, a gesture that speaks to her kindness and commitment to making sure everything is just right. People couldn't stop talking about the cupcakes, including the venue owner, who asked for her business cards on the spot! Lorrie is not only incredibly talented and professional, she's also just a lovely human being. I felt like I was working with a friend from day one. Every cupcake was worth every penny, and I will absolutely be using Bloom Cupcakes again for future events.

If you're craving cookies, cupcakes, milkshakes, or soft serve, this is definitely the place to go. One thing I really loved is that the soft serve comes with unlimited toppings. If you run out of room, they'll transfer it to a larger bowl for just $2 more, which I thought was a great value. I ordered two cookies to take home--the classic chocolate chip and the churro--as well as a churro milkshake. The milkshake was perfectly blended, deliciously sweet, and topped with fresh whipped cream. It was definitely an indulgent treat that's worth the splurge. Both cookies were soft, flavorful, and you even have the option to add icing and extra toppings if you want to take them over the top. The service was friendly, the concept is fun, and everything felt fresh. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in the mood for a sweet treat!

There are baked goods, desserts, and brunch and sandwich options, several of which have Dominican or other Latino roots. I had the chimi sandwich, which was delicious. A chimi is a Dominican street food, served almost like a burger, served with shredded cabbage in a mayoketchup sauce. La Dolcekca's chimi is a sandwich, and a dang good one at that. Absolutely delicious, and a sizable portion at that, served with a side of French fries. I also had a jugo de chinola (maracuya for most Latinos; passionfruit juice for non-Spanish speakers). Aside from the food being delicious, this place is adorable. This is clearly a business that someone really cares about. The decorations are super cute and feminine, with florals and several Parisian references. Bathroom is clean and tidy, as is the rest of the business. I stopped by today hoping to grab some of their famous long johns, but the morning crowd had already bought them all out--which honestly tells you everything you need to know about how popular their baked goods are. Some of their favorites definitely sell out early, so getting there sooner is always a good idea. Since the long johns were gone, I picked up two Boston cream donuts and a slice of their strawberry chiffon cake. The strawberry chiffon cake was absolutely incredible. It was so light and airy that it truly felt like eating a cloud with strawberries. It was fresh, soft, and packed with flavor. The Park Road location is my go-to, although they also have a location at Optimist Hall. The customer service is always friendly, and I'm usually in and out quickly, even when they're busy. Suarez's offers an amazing selection of cakes, cookies, donuts, cupcakes, and other baked treats. Everything I've tried has been consistently delicious. I've also used them several times for birthday cakes, and they have always done a fantastic job. Their cakes not only look beautiful, but they taste just as good, making them a great option for special occasions. Another bonus is that they're open on Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., which is perfect when you're craving something sweet over the weekend. If you're looking for a bakery in Charlotte that delivers quality, consistency, and delicious desserts, Suarez's Bakery is definitely worth the visit. Just remember: if you're after one of their popular items, get there early because the favorites tend to sell out. 10 out of 10, highly recommend for all your bakery needs--from everyday treats to special occasion cakes.

From the outside, it is an adorable spot with a beautiful, inviting building. Unfortunately, the remarkably unfriendly welcome I received inside immediately crushed my enthusiasm and made me regret walking in. I very nearly turned around and left. I can't say whether the staff was simply having a bad day, whether I didn't look like their usual clientele, or whether something else was going on. Whatever the reason, the interaction tainted my visit from the start. I purchased a Funfetti cupcake, a chocolate chip cookie, a snickerdoodle cookie, and a Key lime pie bar. The chocolate chip cookie was merely okay. Personally, I think a standard Nestlé Toll House cookie made at home would have been better. The snickerdoodle, on the other hand, was outstanding and easily the highlight of everything I tried. The Key lime pie bar had a wonderfully creamy texture and a lovely graham cracker base, but it contained barely any Key lime flavor. There was no citrus punch or brightness--just a smooth, creamy custard on top of graham cracker. The cupcake and frosting both had excellent flavor, but the cake itself was far too crumbly. A little more moisture and structure would have made it much more enjoyable and prevented it from falling apart. Overall, the baked goods were a mixed bag but showed some real potential. Unfortunately, I probably won't return. Even good pastries have a difficult time overcoming an experience with staff who make you feel unwelcome, and I don't particularly enjoy spending money somewhere that leaves me feeling that way. To those about to nosh, best of luck--and consider wearing a little emotional body armor.
