A hidden gem nestled in Sumach Street and at the corner. This seems more like a cafe that caters to the community of people living around here. Ordered a hot chocolate and Flat White. The only thing disappointing is that the drinks was not hot enough. And if you're looking for hot chocolate, Le Beau actually serves better ones. A okay if you're looking for a decent cuppa coffee. Not spectacular, but it will give you the java fix you need for the day.

Small indie coffee shops like Sumach Espresso always be quite enjoyable. A great neighbourhood cafe to hang out for a coffee and get some work done with free wifi. There are also numerous outlets so you will never be out of power. Cappuccino ($3.50) was good. The piece of chocolate that came with it made me smile.

Grate place and testy coffee. Enjoy it every morning. Very friendly staff. I really like it :)

This is such a great cafe! The tunes are awesome, the staff are super friendly, and the coffee hits the spot. If you're looking for a place to get some work done and enjoy a caffeine hit - this place is great. There are limited seats so get in quick to catch a spot. Definitely feels like a great space for collaboration.

Quaint coffee shop! Came here in the morning, loved the atmosphere. Quite a neighbourhood coffee shop as there was a small line up but it goes fast. Only problem I can foresee is working space - not too many tables available if you are planning to work. I ordered a double shot Americano and a lemon cranberry muffin - $5.75 in total which isn't too bad (Americano was around $3.25). The coffee was good - not great, not terrible. Barista was great, asked if the water level was good and if I wanted it topped up. Amazing service, good atmosphere, good coffee.

Neighbourhood has really changed.. Good to see those addition. Nice exterior and interior. Coffee was strong and good. Friendly, easy going. Extend the hours? Hopefully....??

I suppose the growing influx of cultured yuppies moving into the condos of the New Regent Park are not content with Tim Hortons being the only coffee house on the block. From the makers of greasy porn shop-turned-Broadview Espresso, comes this new corner mart-turned-Sumach Espresso! Something a bit more to the likings of the young and hip, by which this cafe caters mostly to, something I realize quickly as I looked out the window and watch the people of the Old Regent Park pass by unassumingly, still in many ways worlds apart. As for the consumables, it's alrighty. Quite unpretentious an atmosphere, despite whatever's been said in the previous paragraph. A mix of seating options including the front patio, but no comfy armchairs like over at Broadview Espresso. The big "Sumach Espresso" logo on the subway tiled wall seems to be a popular Instagram subject.

Don't bother coming in, a lot flies are hanging around and eating the food that they will most likely give you

This neighbourhood cafe has so much potential. Great space and location. However, my visit here was…read morepretty disappointing. I had a London Fog, they use Sloane tea ("heavenly cream" flavour, a classic) but they fill the cup half way with hot water and then just add a bit of steamed milk and vanilla syrup. I thought that was so weird, as it should be just the tea bag, steamed milk, and vanilla syrup. It tasted watered down. I also had a croissant and it was so bad, it was almost inedible. Judging by the way they were stacked up like sardines in the display case, I think they are bought from somewhere else and certainly not made in house. It was too dry and lacking the inner chewiness, yet also not flaky or crips on the outside. Instead it was kinda stale. It looked like those ones that come in big boxes at grocery store. Very disappointing. The only good thing is that their street side patio is really nice in the summer. There are ample muskoka chairs with side tables and a bowl of clean water for the dogs. On a weekend morning, there are lots of regulars here and people are very friendly. However, for quality espresso drinks and fresh baked goods, Supernova Coffee up the street is significantly better (and also has a cute patio area).

We tried the egg & cream cheese and the ham & Swiss, and wow... insanely buttery, perfectly flaky on the outside, and soft on the inside. This was definitely due to everything being made fresh in-house. When we ordered, we caught a glimpse of trays of butter-loaded croissants at the back, ready to go into the oven. My partner straight up said it was the best croissant she's ever had--so that says a lot. Drinks held up too. The strawberry latte was super refreshing, with a tangy syrup that paired really nicely with the espresso. My dirty chai was solid, though I was a bit bummed they didn't have stovetop chai--it just hits different. I liked how they host local artists' works & shows too. It's a very intimate & community driven cafe.

It has a homey vibe with a few small tables, plants, and rotating art on display. The baristas are always kind and friendly. They make their baked goods on site, so if you are lucky, you can get things hot out of the oven. My favourites are the ham and cheese croissant and "eggy boy" (round croissant with egg, goat cheese and pepper). There is wifi and they have newspapers, so it's the kind of place to relax and stay a while. In the summer, there are a few patio tables. Year round there is an outdoor seating area (benches) which is perfect for bringing your dog (they also have nice dog treats!!). I have been many times and recognize the regulars there -- neighbourhood folks, people with their kids and dogs, and on weekend mornings, the cyclists. It's a real local gem!
