We found this cafe by googling "Best Cafe for working and studying". It didn't disappoint us at all. The wifi is free and it has many seats. The store was in a LOFT decoration and it was very suitable for studying. I'm not really a coffee taster but I think the coffee in this store is good enough. Nowaday every cafe can provide high-quality coffee. It's worth mentioning that the style of the washroom is very cool. I love the ambience here! There's big windows that let natural sunlight in, which is really nice when you're studying in the morning. Their coffee is so good, one of my favorite in Toronto! My favorite drinks are the cold brew vanilla latte, iced matcha latte, and a cappuccino. The baristas were nice! You have to try the almond croissants they're legendary. This cafe is good for studying but there's no power outlets so charge your devices beforehand. read more

One of my favourite downtown cafes. This place has very friendly staff and a great atmosphere. I love to come here and read for hours. The two big comfy chairs on the ground floor and the couch upstairs are the best seats in the house. The lattes are always tasty. Love this modern coffee shop.. very spacious Indoor as well as outdoor sitting. But not many tables though.. mostly it has bar stools but still good. Very neat and good customer service.. also the service was quick tho there was a bit of line up. The baked goods seem fresh and looked awesome; tried their chocolate croissant and it was delicious. The cappuccino was amazing - the coffee quality was extra ordinary. I will definitely go back here next time to get some work done. The interiors are very aesthetic and seems like there is a reason behind every corner that is designed super good The second floor seating was amazing and you get the bird's eye view on what's happening in the store and I think they also have cozy corners where you can just sit and relax or read something.. overall it's an awesome coffee shop that I haven't been in a while. After seeing this place on BlogTo, I wanted to try this coffee house. The decor is modern, minimalistic design, spanning two floors. Surprisingly, despite it being full of customers, the noise level was moderate to low. The drinks and pastries were nothing special. The iced matcha latte just tasted like water and the vegan donuts were too hard and dense. It would be nice to come in for a hangout or study session but I wouldn't order anything too fancy. read more

Finally got to try Rooster a couple of times this month after two years of my cousins raving about it. The Jarvis location is medium sized if you include the upper level done in conservative but pleasant colours of dark brown, taupe & various off-whites. In the evenings I found it calming and conducive to concentration or intimate conversation. Both the Jarvis & Charles walls are dominated by huge windows which will probably please those of you who are daylight people. First visit I noticed a featured (limited edition?) coffee, Ruva, described as a Costa Rican grown Gesha type. I chose to try it in a Flat White which they ground & extracted on the spot for $3.25 which I thought was great. It tasted more African than native Costa Rican with the tropical fruit & berry being noticeable though without the intrusive tartness and mentholish aromas which have bothered me in the Ethiopian & Rwandan beans from the last couple of years. The freshness and quality was evident from the lack of sour or bitter aftertaste and very smooth texture. I wouldn't buy the beans but it was good to try and I might have it once more or give it a go as a filtered pour-over. The other time I had drip from their in-house Burn Out medium dark. I thought it was solid but unremarkable, nice for occasional change from the familiar Starbucks & Second Cup drips without departing from a classic coffee taste. Good quality for about the same price as the chains and bellow most downtown specialty shops. Service was good both times, casual & relaxed but still professional. Parking is difficult & expensive in the area - not store's fault, just saying. I parked on Earl St both times, I suggest trying this before Charles as it's a long drive back around the block if you're unlucky with Charles. What kept it from being a 5? On my second visit the place could have been a little cleaner - mostly the floor - nothing major, maybe an afternoon floor sweeping was skipped? Also the second visit was a rainy day above 0 and it was bit humid & musty in there, may or may not be an issue in warmer weather. read more

Spacious coffee house with ample seating and free WiFi - great if you want to unwind or spend a morning working with focus. Large selection of pastries that I unfortunately didn't try. I did, however, try the cold brew, which wasn't terrible but had a weird and unbalanced aftertaste with a lot of bitterness and very mild fruity notes. I also tried an espresso shot which blasted my palette upfront with a lot of acidity but had an almost sweet aftertaste. All in all, the ambience is great but the coffee itself brings the rating down. read more

My friend and I were visiting Toronto for my birthday and I was in need of a good cup of coffee on a cold day! We happen upon this place and what a great find. loved the way it was decorated, very cute space. I was able to use the restroom and they have plenty of seating. I ordered a flat white and it was delicious and strong! They have plenty of different coffee drinks or teas. Also they have delicious baked goodies to pair with your drink! Heads up, it is street paid parking but you can use the mobile app to pay for a spot. When I come back to town I will definitely be coming to this place again. This is probably my favourite Rooster Coffee House's location. I love the space the moment I stepped in. Mind you, it was cold and freezing outside and the cafe just felt so welcoming and WARM with the aroma of coffee! Love the seating option! They even have a second level if you want some quiet time. Rooster Coffee House has interesting latte if you are not a coffee drinker. Honey Ginger Latte is perfect for this colder and wet weather! Coffee house with a very cool hipster vibe. Love the coziness with it's faux leather chairs and couches, artsy light fixtures, funky artwork and a comfy loft to people watch. Decent coffee but only vanilla and chocolate flavored syrup to choose from and no whipped cream boo! They do however make cute coffee art and have tasty pastries (no oven or micro to warm things up though): their croissants are light, buttery and flaky. Chill baristas but excellent customer service. They have tiny tables in the loft that barely fit my friend and my 2 coffees and 2 plates of pastries (see pic). My friend accidentally knocked off her croissant while fumbling with the plates. I mentioned this problem with the barista then he apologized and gave us a complimentary croissant woo hoo! read more

When you walk in, it smells like heaven. (espresso IS heaven and their espresso is fresh. The place itself is very hipster-esque and caters to the corporate environment around it. I find it a great place to have a meeting, or simply work on your own time. Also, anywhere with an upstairs has me sold. I like creeping on people as they walk in completely unaware ;) The baristas are very friendly and the place is organized to a point where nobody is lost looking for where to pay and where to wait for their drink. They had a good variety of options but I was intrigued by the ginger honey latte - I love ginger and it's so good for you, so I definitely hopped on that. Oh, and I'm also in love with almond milk & they don't charge extra for that. Every single one of the ingredients in that latte was on point, and the large size cost me less than $5 - so. worth. The ginger honey latte was so good that sometimes I just think about it, when I'm home or whatever. Goodbye starbucks, hello roosters! They also sell cold pressed juice in the fridge beside, so I thought that was interesting. Generally l o v e this place. Definitely will be back, at least once a week. They have plenty of seating options in the main area, at the windows and a second floor indoor balcony. We tried it on a Saturday morning. We had an awesome cinnamon bun which they get from the St. Lawrence Market. They also have great mild and dark roast coffees. read more

Been here about 3 times. The crowd is divided into 3 types: trendy students trying to study, nature white people, well dressed businessmen wearing buttoned up shirts. It gets loud in here in the afternoon and wifi is weak. Don't come to hang around long... it's just too loud. There's lineups of 10 people around lunch and late afternoon. I'm writing this review however to praise the calm, cool, and forgiving bromance baristas. While in a lineup of 10 I discovered I forgot to bring my credit card and they let me have my drink and pay later. I felt so stupid but they reassured me it was fine. I'm pretty sure a normal person might try to pull this shit all the time, and maybe I'm lucky as an Asian woman... anyway that kind of service really changed my day as someone also coming in to get a coffee after a petsitting gig meeting. I'm really a big fan of Rooster in general and I couldn't give them anything below 5 stars. Firstly, thank you SO much for finally opening a decent coffee shop right by my apartment. Aside from Bulldog Coffee (which is way further down) this area has been a coffee wasteland for the entire time I've lived here. Secondly, your coffee consistency is second to none in the city. Pretty much perfect every time. This Rooster location is at the bottom of the X2 condos. As others have said it is more industrial hipster and less warm, cosy and homely than other locations. It's also a lot larger and more spacious. They've done a nice job with the furniture. They have a few hidden nooks and a few older and mismatched pieces to make the place feel more approachable. My favourite one is the single person's reading nook in the back corner on the ground floor. There are also some neat spaces upstairs for groups and along the window, and outdoor seating for the warmer months. My go to order is an almond milk latte. Whether to stay or to go it is perfect every time and the milk temperature just right. I brought my Sydney-based parents here when they visited and dad more than approved (and he is a tough critic). As mentioned by others the lids and things are in two different locations, which kind of confused me in the beginning. But, now that I'm a regular I know to just go right because that section has everything you need. On another note, the washroom is stylin'. If you have to go then...enjoy! To sum up, very nicely done. I'm willing to bet the beleaguered Rogers employees over the street are thrilled to bits Rooster is here. If you're in the neighbourhood be sure to stop by for your caffeine fix. read more

4.5 star ... very good coffee and a wonderful atmosphere. In search of good coffee near the Yorkville area, we found Rooster on the Far East side facing the Rogers building. This certainly is one of the better coffee shops I've tried in Toronto and definitely competes with some of the good 3rd wave ones I've had south of the border. Though this particular location is awesome for Rogers employees, it's a bit out of the way for the rest of us. It's not quite close to Yorkville or other hot spots like a King St. W. What's great though it has a bright atmosphere that allows you to enjoy the sun in a 2 story large space and people watch with their dogs. There are not a lot of tables but it has many bar seatings facing the windows. There were a lot of people here just sitting for hours doing their assignments or enjoying their afternoon coffee. We sat here for a long time and not once were we ever asked to move. We did enjoy 3 different drinks over the time we were here though! I love how they offer alternative milk... you have a choice of soy, coconut, and almond. We got a steeped chai latte (they used a tea bag for it... don't get this, the tea blend was quite weak), macchiato (with the cutest little Ontario spoon. Overall, this was good ... not bitter, right amount of milk), and a mocha. The mocha was the clear winner... they didn't use a terrible chocolate syrup but one that is more bittersweet chocolate. They definitely took care in pulling the espresso shot as it was very well balanced between the dark chocolate, espresso, and milk. I really liked it. Overall, clean great place that serves very good coffee and lots of seating. If i'm ever in the Yorkville area, I may trek a bit further and enjoy a cup here. read more

Great coffee, cool vibe, and an awesome interior. What more can you ask for? I've been to all 3 rooster locations and this is probably my 2nd fave location (the first being the Broadview one). Service is friendly and you don't have to wait long to get your coffee. Their Americanos are stellar and their cappuccinos are great (and come with pretty latte art). Came in here around 10am. Sarah makes a mean matcha latte. It is so so so so pretty and super tasty. She knows her milk foam! The scone was alright. Pastries are better than Starbuck's. The vibe is great. Spacious. Hipster interior design. Really nice leather arm chairs. This place is not a must-visit for tourists. I love coffee shops, but this place just seemed pretty okay to me. Space is extremely limited. If it were not for the extremely limited space, I think my overall experience would have been much better. I got their latte, which tasted a little bit burnt or maybe that is just a dark roast? For the price I paid, I thought the size was a little bit on the smaller side. However, their peameal sandwich was amazing. I really liked it, the mango inside the sandwich was SUCH A GOOD IDEA! Unfortunately, I just didn't get the right impression this time. I'm a little bit hesitant to go back because I'm afraid that space will be an issue. On top of that, the latte I paid for was a bit too underwhelming for me. Maybe next time I'll just order something else. What I really liked about the cafe was its high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows. I went in on Saturday evening around 6:30PM, and was greeted by a not so friendly staff member, I guess I interrupted him. I ordered the Americano, which he made and I think it may have been his first time because the other staff member that was there had to help him. He did not pull a 3oz espresso shot, it was less than that, and I noticed his mistake instead of adding more espresso or redoing the order, the girl helping him added more hot water making my espresso, which ended up being weak and un-flavorful and mediocre.
