King Combo & fresh baked pita
    Jessie W.

We had a sudden craving for a gyro, decided to give the salt and grill a try and the service was friendly and quick. We ordered one gyro and fries plate, the King Combo, and because of the cold, I decided to try the Harira soup. First, the gyro was soft and came stuffed with plenty of lamb, which was great. The King combo had everything that I'd wanted to try, the tabbouleh was delicious, as were the other sides and both meats. The only thing that we ordered that didn't reach the fifth star was the soup. It was good and hearty, but could have used a bit more flavor. Finally, the pita that came with the combo was fantastic. It was not your typical store-bought flat pita, but a fresh baked, soft and chewy delight. We will return!

    Garlic dip and Chicken Kabab.

Absolutely incredible food. Garlic dip was the best I have had in a long time. Generous portions and very friendly staff. Will definitely be back.

The food was not as authentic as remembered. I was saddened to see the window taken out where you could sit and watch them make the food. I am allergic to tomatoes and clarified if things had tomatoes or not while ordering. Yet, my salad was brought with tomatoes on it. Powdered Chai and no mint tea. And there was a hair in the salad. The service was not the best. The young man was on his phone the entire time and we had to call him over for water, condiments, or anything including the check. The ambiance was bizarre. Some aspects are very lovely; the wall in front of the cooks. Some aspects are really unappealing; bathroom, cleanliness of the place. We visited for an enjoyable Mother's Day and left disappointed. I was excited to try after watching a documentary on the Somm channel about that specific winemaker. The wine was delicious. Additionally, I was so happy to see small boutique wine from the Santa Barbara area like Amevive and A Tribute to Grace. Our server Yvonne guided our menu choices thoughtfully and enhanced our experience with excellent service. We started with watermelon feta salad with baby cilantro, walnuts, and harissa oil. The watermelon was cool, sweet, and crisp and the flavors balanced perfectly. If you are a pickle lover you must get the pickles. I think I will be dreaming of them. The pickled cabbage, okra, califlower and snap peas were just the best! The pitas were puffy, but not hollow, and warm. There was also an olive oil dipping sauce that complemented everything. Star of the show for me was the forgaged mushrooms and hummus. These were the most delicious mushrooms and snoothest hummus I have ever experienced, and I think there might be magicians in the kitchen. Our other dishes were cabbage and eggplant. Both taste explosions, done masterfully with a sauce, color and texture. This food is truly incredible, highly recommend. I am in Denver for work, anytime I travel back to Denver I will for sure return to Safta.

Everything feels meant to be explored rather than just eaten. And the passion fruit pavlova? Absolutely get it. I am NOT a soda kind of gal, but the strawberry cardamom soda was the exception. So unexpected, refreshing, and delicious. This isn't just a place to grab something to eat--it's an experience. Go hungry, order a bunch of things, share everything, and experiment. Definitely a must-try.

But in the mood for Mediterranean, and deciding on takeout, we gave them a try. I was confused by the online ordering options, so I figured I would just go in, order at the counter, and wait for the food. I was quoted 15 mins. Only one group of four was seated, so I hoped it might be a little quicker. Ended up being closer to 25 mins before it was ready. First, the good. Portions are really large. The hummus and rice both continue to be fantastic. The pita that comes with the dish is fine, including the dipping sauces provided. Like I've done in the past, I had the meat combo. The Chicken kabob and kafta kabob are both really good. Great flavor and cooked perfectly. Also, counter service was friendly for the most part. On the flip side, my beef kabob was really tough again. Looking back at previous reviews, this seems to be a trend. I probably need to either just get the chicken or see if they'll let me sub another chicken for the beef. Speaking of beef, my wife usually gets and loves the beef shawarma. Not so much this time. It was really tough, and she said it tasted kind of burned too. Seems like this just shouldn't happen. Mental note for us...if possible, we should see if we can get them to hold the tomatoes from the salad, since neither of us like tomatoes.
