Sayori nigori sake

I've been going to this place since it was called kitanoya , the food is absolutely phenomenal, my favorite ramen place in all of Ventura, the service and the chefs are hands down the best , and the place is always so clean and so peaceful just looks great, and if you don't want ramen they have an amazing sashimi salad and great sushi, thank you for the amazing food everytime

What do you have on a cold day in Oxnard? Well, ramen of course. And Suisen Ramen is a great place to satisfy that ramen and sushi craving. The restaurant itself was smaller than we anticipated. But there was still plenty of seating and our group of 8 was seated immediately at the bar. My wife and I shared the chashu ramen with miso broth and a deluxe sushi. And our friend had a chirashi bowl. The ramen broth was delicious. And there was generous portion of chashu pork. Really hit the spot. The sushi was good. Loved the nigiri. Didn't love the spicy tuna rolls as much. Overall, the food was great, the staff was friendly and nice. Definitely recommend the ramen. And the sushi was fresh.

Vegas roll - this was FANTASTIC. I think this is easily the best vegas roll I've ever had. I was obsessed!!!! Volcano roll - . I did not like it but my husband did. It was very different from what we're used to. Sashimi - so fresh and delicious. Like WOW. They are definitely tied with Banzai Marina when it comes to sashimi. Garlic bomb Ramen - this was surprisingly not my favorite. The broth did not have enough rich flavor and tasted watered down, so unfortunately this was a miss. Noodles themselves were good Karaage - delicious and authentic! Staff was very nice and food came out quickly. Though there were some misses, I'd be happy to come here again for sushi

I recommend the sushi since its always fresh and flavorful. The ramen could improve on the flavor, I got the tonkotsu base. It was still good, nonetheless. I will continue getting ramen and sushi at this place. It's the closest ramen you can find near base.

Koi and fried chicken ramen

I had really high hopes for this ramen restaurant but it just didn't do it for me. There were some pros and cons about the quality of the food. We got the koi and fried chicken ramen. I specifically asked if the chefs can make the noodles more firm. Although the employee understood and wrote it down, the noodles still came out pretty soft :( we got both of the ramens with Tonkatsu broth. I was sort of disappointed in the broth. Although it was nice and hot, it didn't have that rich, thick texture that Tonkatsu broth usually has. The Koi ramen pork slices were also too thick and were not as tender. It also had a freezer taste to it which was not pleasant. The pros were that the eggs were cooked perfectly and the fried chicken that came with the ramen was very crispy, juicy, and had a great flavor. Overall, it's a pretty mid ramen restaurant. I just was expecting more but it fell short in regard to food. The employees were really nice but the food itself is 3 stars.

Chashu Ramen plus wonton and hot tea. $21

Came in as a party of 1 sat the bar right away. Ordered a hot tea and got my drink right away. The ramen I went with was the Chashu Ramen and I added wontons. I got the base of spicy meso at a level 8. I find it off that levels are from 1-20 yet 8 is spicy? Anyway the wontons seem like it was all wonton with no meat at all. I think these can use improvements. Other than that the flavor was great and portion was well worth it. $27 for a part of 1 with a 25% tip.

So I've been here before when it was called Kitanoya and I honestly wasn't a huge fan. I heard there was a name change so I figured tonight was a great night to check them out. We decided to grab the seats at the sushi bar especially since it was wide open for us ! We ordered: Spicy tuna tempura roll wasn't bad but wasn't great . There was way too thick of a tempura layer for our liking . The flavors weren't too bad tho. Not too sweet either which was good. Salmon belly sushi (seared per our request) was magnificent! I love a perfect sear and this was on point. 5/5 Ono sushi was good. 4/5 Scallop sushi was great. Giant scallops were just the right tenderness and flavor. 5/5 Yellowtail belly sushi was oooohhhhh soooo gooood! The buttery flavor had my taste buds dancing for joy ! 5/5 Toro sushi was ok didn't have the melting in my mouth effect that I was hoping for at $14 for an order. I was really disappointed but now I know to ask for old toro and not new for my liking . I learned that tonight from Kevin, one of the owners . (Thank you Kevin!) 3/5 Found out it's still the same owners minus one. Kevin mentioned they changed up a few things and so far the sushi has gotten better so I'm interested to see if the ramen has gotten better . So I'll definitely be back some time soon !

Great find in Ventura! Asian food has certainly come a looooong way since I was a kid!…read more Was needing a quick bite before swim finals. First, the gal who took our order was super friendly and helpful. The food was really good. Reminded me of We had the original chicken wings, japchae, kimbap, bulgogi bowl and the yuzu and grape ades. All of the dishes were wonderful. Chicken was nice and crispy --good flavor throughout and not greasy at all! The japchae had a great balance of flavors and the shiitake mushrooms, in particular, had really great flavor--must have been marinated for a long time to soak up all the juices! The kimbap was delicious! It was fresh and the pickle in it (Japanese call it takuan, idk what its name in Korean is) was super mild. It didn't overpower the other ingredients. The bulgogi was a solid dish. It had also the glass noodles on one side and plenty of meat and veggies. A good, well-rounded dish. We will come back for bing soo after the kid finishes finals, if it isn't too late! A local regular enthusiastically suggested we try it, so we will be back. The drinks were really delicious as well. Not too sweet and refreshing taste--I think each one is handmade individually. Overall, I highly recommend this place. It has all of the taste of real Korean home cooking at a good price point. You can get quality dishes in a casual in-and-out setting. We will be back for sure!

I recently tried Matna, and overall the experience was just okay. The food wasn't bad, but the…read moreprices felt way too high for what you get. I ordered the bibimbap and some wings. The bibimbap was very standard -- nothing special or memorable about it. It tasted like a typical Korean bibimbap you can get at many other places, but here it was priced at $12.75, while I've seen similar dishes at other restaurants for under $8. The wings were the same story. A small portion of five wings costs $12.99, and while they tasted fine, they were just ordinary Korean fried wings. Nothing about them really stood out to justify the price. Overall, the food is decent, but there's nothing unique or special that makes the higher prices make sense. In my opinion, the only thing that stands out about this restaurant is that it's overpriced for what it offers.

From the…read moreparking lot we could see only one table with a two people, but a large, happy looking, family was exiting with arm fulls of to go bags so we decided to chance it, my partner especially excited for hot pot. We let the group pass us and entered the restaurant. We were promptly seated at a corner table and given menus. It did take a bit for the server to come back to take our order, but we did realize we came in 1/2 hour before closing, so we eased off a bit. My partner order the hot pot and was very happy with his choice. The server came back with a hot plate and instructed us how to cook the meat. I was a bit apprehensive about having to cook my own food, but the fragrant smell as it cooked changed my mind. The broth was flavorful and the veg and meat were tender as they soaked up the soupy goodness. I also ordered the boa buns and the pillowy texture, mixed with the soft pork and crunchy cucumber and carrots made my belly sing. We slurped up our food and cleared out as quickly as we could. I hate being that person that lingers at closing time. What I do regret is that I did not take more time at their counter as we exited because it was full of snacks and curios that I love. Next time for sure!
