Oh wow. Soooo good. It's a teeny shop, but they had quite a few cupcakes to choose from. We got tiramisu, salted caramel, raspberry lemon and chocolate. The tiramisu was our favorite. Both the cake and the frosting were very good :). read more

I could not even believe the amazing work they did on my cake! I sent them a picture of my boyfriend's sand car, asked them if they could put it on a cake, and they did just that! (See pics) Not only was the design so detailed and perfect, it was DELICIOUS!! I got a marble cake with buttercream frosting and it was perfect. I will never order a cake from anywhere else... This review is based only on the e-mail seeking a quote for a cake. I realize the real money is made with wedding cakes. I e-mailed for a quote for a graduation cake. What I got was an e-mail response about how much cakes start out at as if I could not possibly afford to order a cake. I responded that the price was good. I did not hear back again till I was already on my way, about a week later, to order the cake at another bakery. Another bakery who actually responded to my e-mail with an estimate and had cake samples for us to taste too. I didn't spend over $1,000 on a cake like some brides, but if I am spending about $600 (what I ended up spending elsewhere) I'd think that is enough to warrant a little service. My experience is if you're not spending enough, they do not even want your business at Sugarlips Cakery. Good to know! read more

Loved our cake , The taste of the white cake was moist and delicious. Wasn't dry. We ordered a 14" and it was gone next morning. We had extra and my children ate it all next day. I enjoyed how easy it was to work with them, and contacting in advance really helped make things go smoothly. Thank you! read more

This confectionery is absolutely amazing, it smells amazing when you first walk in, and everything looks fantastic. I ordered a dozen(+) cupcakes for my friends, all adorably Halloween themed and coupled with delectable flavors. My main goal though was a last-minute birthday cake for my best friend who is turning 21, and Sugarlips was went above and beyond with their customer service. The gorgeous cake they had on display was quickly adorned with the most beautiful flowering, and personal message, and I was actually speechless. Next time when I need something specific, I'll do the proper thing and order ahead of time, but my future business was well earned today. The entire staff was friendly and helpful and I couldn't be more pleased. read more

I ordered a cake from Sugarlips back in April. I had a great first time experience and my cake came out beautiful. The woman that helped me was very nice, helpful, and very excited about my cake/ideas. I went in today to order a cake for my daughter's birthday; and it was a totally different experience. The women behind the counter seemed very dismissive and uninterested. I was told that I couldn't use a certain character because it resembled Harley Quinn too much; and the rights to Harley Quinn are reserved to DC. (*I was also told later via phone that copyrighted characters cannot be recreated with icing or fondant).... I checked Sugarlips Cakery's Instagram/ website and they featured not one, not two, not three, but FOUR cakes that resembled "recognizable copyrighted characters"... Perhaps I just caught them on the wrong day???.. Maybe Sugarlips has some secret policy unbeknownst to me about when/ how they decide to follow the laws of copyright...??? Again my first experience was awesome, I felt like the baker I worked with the first time around was very nice, helpful, and passionate about my ideas. Whereas, today the girl seemed like had zero interest in offering help/ other suggestions. SERIOUSLY DISAPPOINTED... read more

FANTASTIC! The Best Cupcakes! Every flavor is worth the calories and makes you want more!

Got a 6" round cake for $49, it was for my boyfriend's birthday, he absolutely loved it, said it tasted perfectly moist and sweet. His family always gets their cakes from here too. The only downside is even with the picture I sent in of the infinity gauntlet they got the colors of the infinity stones wrong but because we went to pick it up right before they closed I didn't bother asking them to correct it. But all the staff is always wonderful & friendly! :) read more

We ordered a small one tier cake for our wedding and although it was a simple order, Sugarlips did an amazing job! We could not be more happy with how it turned out. These people are real professionals who love their job! They will be our next choice for future events! read more

My son and I went in last Saturday to make a cake purchase for my son's birthday. I had previously purchased two cakes from this bakery in the past. To say the service on Saturday was rude is an absolute understatement. The person handling the cake order did not provide any type of direction nor pricing on the cake. The service was rushed and the person appeared to be annoyed when any questions were asked. After my son had picked out what he wanted, I was absolutely astonished when the person taking the order indicated that the cake was $180 for 30 people. When my son asked for a cup of water with his cupcake, the person at the counter was rude after a seemingly large purchase -- I had also ordered a coffee which was finally offered to me as I was walking out of the bakery after being there for over 15 minutes. My sister went in today to make changes to the cake which is not scheduled to be ready until Saturday and was told that because I had already paid in full, there could be no changes made to the cake. It was further told to her that if we were to go somewhere else it was fine because I had already paid for the cake. Next cake order, I will go elsewhere. read more

Ordered a last minute birthday cake for my mom and luckily, Sugarlips Cakery was able to accommodate my request of the customized bday cake in such a short notice (like ordered today, need it tomorrow night. -__-') in a very reasonable price The staff were friendly and very helpful. The cake was a hit! Everyone loved the cake specially my mom! Definitely got some inquiry where I got the cake and of course I told them where. Highly suggest this place! The cake was not only very detailed in design (even though it's simply just Sully's fur) but the cake tasted really good (red velvet). I will for sure order future cakes here again and let my friends know about it! Thanks for the cake you guys! There was no left overs at the bar because everyone loved it! read more

Sugarlips Cakery - A marble buttercream cake - Bakeries Near Me - Mesa, Arizona

I read the reviews when I came in and expected to be blown away, but the cupcakes were just average for me. The decor inside was incredibly cute, colorful, and inviting. I had asked what the most popular flavors were so I picked triple chocolate, red velvet, salted caramel and a seasonal coconut. The cake itself was a tad dry in my opinion. The frosting amount was appropriate (I hate it when they overdo frosting) but there were no flavors within the cake itself that popped out. The coconut seemed like the only thing that made it coconut was the flakes on top. It all comes down to personal taste for cupcakes- I don't like cupcakes that are overly sweet, and they have to be incredibly moist, so I still prefer My usual spot in Phoenix. However, the decor inside was adorable and inviting, and the staff was helpful and friendly- it was a hidden gem in Mesa! read more

Sugarlips Cakery - My Wedding Cake :) Everything was perfect about it! - Bakeries Near Me - Mesa, Arizona

Contacted Sugarlips Cakery based on online reviews. They worked with me to custom design a cake for my husband's 40th Birthday celebration. I ordered it just a week before the event. They perfectly executed my vision for his cake and I think the price was well worth it (though it was listed on other reviews as being less expensive so if you find prices online, be sure to check on the price when you call so you aren't taken by surpise.) Oh, and most importantly, it was delicious!!! read more

I planned my daughter-in-law's baby shower and wanted make things as Covid safe as I could think of (outside at the park, lots of gloves and food tongs for handling food). I wanted mini cupcakes to make things easier for everyone ( also so I didn't have to worry about cutting and handling cake). We tried many different bakeries throughout the valley and Sugarlips was, by far, the best. Service was great, cupcakes were amazing, I got 4 different flavor cakes and could mix the flavors of icing. They were moist, flavorful and a huge hit. Thank you Sugarlips, you will be my go to for any other cake needs. read more

Cupcake-wise, this place is great--$2.50 for a cupcake with $1 happy hours Saturdays from 1 to 2. The pumpkin is great, as is the white-chocolate cranberry. The chef is very nice and so happy to share more information about each unique creation. The atmosphere is hit-or-miss...there are a few little tables, and around the corner is a tiny nook that feels like something out of Pinterest. Not a place for getting work done, but possibly for chatting with friends. The music drove me insane within minutes, however--I'm not sure if this is the norm, or just a weird Halloween mix for 5-year-olds--but I had to leave after eating instead of staying to get some work done. read more

Sugarlips Cakery - Bakeries Near Me - Mesa, Arizona

Wife and I recently ordered a cake from sugarlips. The cake was definitely made from a cake mix; very disappointing. I used to manage a bakery and know the difference between high-quality, from scratch ingredients and something made from a mix. You're essentially paying for a nice design and pretty colored icing from this place. The manager helped us when we came in - really disappointing service. She was grumpy, awkward, and grumbling to the other girls up front. So uncomfortable; we'll never come back. read more
