We had switched all of our prescriptions over to Walgreens quite some time ago because the CVS pharmacy was astoundingly bad in our experience. But sadly, my company changed insurance providers and we are now compelled to use CVS/Caremark. Last night we made a trip to the CVS pharmacy and it reminded me of all the reasons why we switched to Walgreens. So there are some positive things about the Walgreens pharmacy that CVS cannot compete with, the first of which is drive-through service. Believe me, going to a pharmacy is much more pleasant if you can take care of your transactions from the comfort of your bucket seat with some soothing tunes playing. Also, the manager at the Walgreens pharmacy was very helpful in getting me a prescription medication that CVS couldn't be bothered with (the manufacturer even sent them free drug and they lost it/discarded it) and the staff at both CVS and Walgreens claimed didn't exist (it did). Generally speaking, the staff at the Walgreens pharmacy are more pleasant and helpful than their ugly cousin across the street and it is simply a nicer experience to use Walgreens than CVS. Are they great? No. There are several frustrating things that have happened while trying to get meds from the Walgreens pharmacy, but if I had a choice (and I do not have a choice any more), I would pick this Walgreens over the CVS across the street 100% of the time.

Both pharmacists worked to squeeze me in and I appreciated that. I didn't want to come back the next day. I see 1 and 2 star reviews but I don't think people understand that the pharmacists are busier than one armed paper hangers while I'm sure upper management believes the pharmacists aren't busy enough. Many healthcare providers are running on a skeleton crew so if anyone feels they're not getting the help they want, those are corporate policies. Pharmacists have no say. The bean counters make decisions even though they have no professional degree or license. The people working in the store were very nice too. In this case, pharmacy and store employees are asking unvaccinated people to wear masks but they aren't allowed to ask to see each person's vaccine passport. That's ridiculous! It appears that corporate may have cut down on cashiers so I'd suggest people keep calling corporate rather than shooting the messenger. These are tough times for everyone. Give them a break.

The pictures were ready but the clerk couldn't sell them to me until she saw the release from my photographer. I was upset because no one had notified me about needing the release and now I would have to make a separate trip. I have a newborn at home and a full time job - it's hard for me to run errands. Most other people wouldn't appreciate having to run the same errand twice either. I left, annoyed and intending to print the pictures elsewhere and let them eat the cost. Later I changed my mind and decided to call the manager to discuss the situation. She listened closely to my concerns, expressed an apology for the inconvenience, offered a discount, and gave me her name so I could ask for her when I went back. I came back later that day, found the manager, and she gave me a bigger discount than I expected. The pictures are great and I will print more there in the future!

Sure it feels a little awkward to sit in a makeup chair at Walgreens but it's totally worth it. I also really like the health clinic at this Walgreens store. It's easy to make an appointment online, and the woman I've seen by over the past year is THE BEST. She's super sweet, and she really knows her stuff.
