Dedicated to making people smile with delicious pies, cakes & cookies. Next door to the outstanding Sugarfire Barbecue. I loved the oatmeal cream pie $4 and apple pie $4. Pricy but really good. The vibe is like going to visit your friends that like to bake. Extra bonus: free coffee that is good

I had a few missions in St. Louis. One of them was to find Gooey Butter Cake which is a city original. Friends turned me onto this place the day before I departed to head home. The recipe for gooey butter cake dates to the 1930's. A German/American baker in St. Louis reversed the proportions of butter and flour. The rest is history. Upon arriving the business was preparing for close in about 15 minutes. There were still customers seated and a few at counter waiting for bakery items. All I was praying for was that they had not run out of Gooey Butter Cake. The service was slow and we seemed to be ignored a bit. I get they were closing, but it seemed like a few staff was sweeping and dedicated to closing and not pushing customers through the line. Our party waited and scored the last Gooey Butter Slab as their store called it aka Gooey Butter Cake. Check out was fine, but again staff just seemed tired and to me that seemed unfriendly. Upon arriving back to friends home it was time for a taste test. My first one and WOW! I get the hype. This local bakery has more than just pie and baked goods. Ice cream is also on the menu. I would maybe return if in the area, but service was a 1 star deduction for me.

I wanted to stop by and try the Sugar Fire gooey butter, it was delicious and enjoyable but not as big as I would like it..LOL. I say it's middle of the road, but they have a ton of other deserts. If you eat BBQ and the stop in for desert, that's the ultimate experience. If you just want some delicious sweet desert stop by anyway. They are clean, looks nice and appealing in the store, the parking lot is shared so be prepared to park and walk a few extra steps.

This cake is beyond amazing... I did not try it but if it's half as good as their key lime pie

I stopped in this adorable local store after shopping at Bentley's pet store next door. The atmosphere was very friendly, decor is adorable, and the pie is out of this world Very few places get the key lime right, not only was their key lime smooth, it had the right sweet/sour balance. FYI I have not had a good key lime pie after leaving Florida. Thank you guys for being amazing

    Barely anything left. Looked old.

I had to lower my initial review. First time I came was when it was newly open, but after the hype has settled, it seems that sugarfire pie has lost some of it's fire. I came in to treat a friend to some pie (he has been before), but neither of us seemed to pleased with the choices. The pie had also looked like they had been sitting out for days. The employee (only 1 working on a Sunday afternoon) did not seem to care to help us very quickly even when there were not many people in the store to begin with. She took her time with things and was not very engaging. My friend decided to go for a root beer float, but they didn't have regular root beer and only diet... We both just ended up getting ice cream from a pie store. All in all, it was fine, but it seems that little focus has been placed in maintaining the establishment

OMG the "crack pie" (I think it's called something else more "appropriate" now) is amazing. A must try.

Been here a few times. Big fan of the smoked chocolate chip cookies. The salt adds nice contrast to a normally sweet dessert. Today I tried the pumpkin pie and apple crumb. One thing I noticed is they were not very sweet. If you prefer desserts that are not too sweet, this would be ideal. Since I eat a lot of sweets, I do enjoy desserts that are not masked by sugar. The pumpkin pie has a nice pumpkin flavor. It was fresh but actually not sweet enough. It was good, but would've been great if a little more sweetness. The crust was interesting and I like it. It was flaky yet a bit crispy and bit hard. It's unique but I enjoyed it. The Apple crumb was a tad sweeter and was good. There was a lot of apples! The crust was similar to the pumpkin pie crust. There were lots of options and the shop is small yet cute. I enjoyed the pie but may not make a special trip for it. It was $5 per slice. The pecan pie looked to have a ton of pecans, but I didn't try that one.

Apple hand pie--it's not very good- lacking flavor & definitely not worth $4.50. Hostess apple pies have more flavor

What a disappointing place considering it's associated w/ Sugarfire bbq. We stopped in here after treating my out of town in laws at Sugarfire. We figured the pies would be equally amazing as their bbq, but what a let down. The pies displayed looked sad & untouched. None of the pies looked appealing enough to try so we opted for their other baked goodies. Between 4 people, we all shared an apple hand pie, gooey butter cake, oatmeal whoopie, & 3 ice cream cones, Hand pie was bland/flavorless & a waste of an apple, butter cake was decent, oatmeal tasted days old. The ice creams were the saving grace which is sad when your a pie shop! Go next door for the bbq, skip the pies.

Seems you have to go here after you get barque. Nice shop. Very clean very welcoming. Staff was super friendly. Cool retro theme. Hubby and I tried the ice cream. So good. Flavors were spot on. We saw the pie shake-thought that was different. Slice of pie mixed with a scoop of ice cream. But didn't have room in our bellies to try it. Lol Great store!

Pies are great. Customer service lacking. They don't keep pies out on display for odd reason. Overpriced for a slice. $5.75. I'm a fan.

This place is amazing, the food is very delicious and has great favor. The meat is very tender and the sides are mouth watering.

Our pants were practically unbuttoned after stuffing our faces next door at Sugarfire BBQ, but I had to nab a square of gooey butter for my sister (back home in Indy). The cases of pie in Sugarfire are worth peeking your head in - all the gluttony under glass. Sugarfire Pie has a vintage kitchen vibe with seating for 8 - 10 people (estimate). You can also purchase some of the pie next door at the restaurant. The square of gooey butter was good but not mind blowing - around $4-$5. Next time I would opt for an actual slice of the pie.

Full price "sample" slice of Pecan Pie Cake

T totally disappointed. Went here today and was excited to try this place. I went for the Pecan Pie Cake (pecan pie inside of chocolate ganache cake). I love chocolate cake and I super love love pecan pie so how could this not be amazing? Oh but it wasn't - it was high as hell (the cost) and dry as hell (the taste). I can't tell if it was old or just overcooked - either way, YIKES!!! I'd just left the main food location and saw grand slices of pie and even saw people that had come from this pie location with large slices of the cake. Made my purchase and I get out of the store and look in my bag to put the receipt with my other receipts and I was shocked that I only received a sliver of pie cake. It looked like a sample but I just paid full price. I couldn't believe it so I walked back inside to question the portion I was given. The response was that since there was pie inside of a cake it was taller so that's why they cut the slices thinner. Say what now??? So a slice of cake is $5 and a slice of pie is $4 and some change and I paid $8, so to me that should warrant a comparable slice. Now the taste: the cake was dry as heck and there was barely any pecan pie inside of the chocolate cake. I've gotten moister chocolate cake from the Dominos Pizza deliveryman. I never understood why the Owners would open up a separate pie place when they sell it at the main location next door. Lesson learned, at least I can say I tried it but I won't be doing that anymore. Toodles!!!

Great sign to us that people love coming here. We ordered the chicken flautas, shrimp tacos, a barbacoa taco, elote in a cup, and a strawberry Agua fresca. The food was wonderful! It was some of the best we've had. I'm a non beef eater but my husband said the barbacoa was . He said it was hard to determine his favorite between that and the flautas but if he had to choose it's the barbacoa because it was juicy and very flavorful. It also held together well in the corn tortillas. He wished he ordered more than one. The strawberry Agua fresca was very tasty. It reminded me of a strawberry milkshake. The portions are so plentiful and the menu has so many choices. We are looking forward to trying new things. I loved that the location had a good parking lot and was easy to get to. The decor and ambiance are designed to give you a feeling of luxury. We had a party of 6 and the round table we were placed at was the perfect size for conversation but still had room for all of our food and plated. Waitress was very helpful and attentive. The wine and bourbon list was massive and I recommend that you do your research in advance. It is way too big to really explore at the table. Bourbons were kind of high priced but, "fine dining" so expected. House salad is really good and fresh with nice light, balanced ingredients. We tried the korean cauliflower and bread service for apps. The cauliflower was ok but I wouldn't order again. It was a little disappointing that they charge for bread service. A single order comes with 5 pieces of bread, connected but tearable, and each a pretty small finger-sized piece. The board they served it on had a well full of olive oil and that was a mess. It was hard to pass without spilling and hard to share the oil since you had to pass the whole big bread board with it. Definitely a form over function thing that caused some frustration. Most of my party got steaks and all were very happy. 2 of my party got their steaks tuscan style and although they really liked the flavors on the meat, they wished they had not gotten salads first since the tuscan style plate replaced the usual potato and veg side with an arugula salad (so double salads for those folks). One person got the pork chop and it was massive, seemed like he liked it. I got the tagliatelle ragu and it was a good portion, not obscene but I had leftovers. It kind of tasted like pot roast pasta in a decent way. I don't know if I would get it again but I was not disappointed. 2 in our party ordered dessert, creme brulee and chocolate torte. The chocolate torte was phenomenal and one person said they would have come just for that. Not a lot of non-alcohol after dinner drink options. I ordered drip coffee and it was better than most I have had after dinner at supposedly nice restaurants, although it wasn't amazing. Some at our table ordered port and the bottle was humungous - a very amusing presentation. We were celebrating 4 birthdays among our 6 diners and they brought us a very nice plate of warm, gooey, chocolate chip cookies cut into quarters to share. This was a PERFECT birthday acknowledgement. We didn't need a big dessert per person or one to share with 6 spoons. It was small, delicious, and a gracious gift. If I could do half stars I would give 4.5. There were some small misses that I would not expect from a restaurant of this caliber. It was a lovely dining experience and I would go back in a heartbeat. I really like when a restaurant lives up to its reputation and I think Truffles does.

We started with the Korean fried cauliflower and it was honestly some of the best I've ever had. The batter was light, fluffy, and crispy, and the gochujang sauce with the mayo was sweet and sticky in the best way. Since it's a butchery, we had to try the steaks. I ordered the 4oz filet Oscar style. The meat was tender and very well seasoned, the crab was fresh, and the homemade hollandaise really pulled it all together. My husband had the ribeye. It was a flavorful cut, a little fatty (as ribeye tends to be), but exactly what you'd expect from that cut. The steaks come with a twice-baked potato and vegetable (or you can swap for different vegetables). The potato was flavorful but fairly dense. We also did the bread service - it was good, but felt a bit pricey for the portion. We ended with the flourless chocolate torte, which was very rich and the perfect way to finish the meal - especially on Valentine's Day. Overall, the food was good and the menu is solid. The quality was there, but the portions, bread service and sides didn't fully meet expectations. That said, it was still a lovely experience and a great date-night spot.

She shared interesting and incredible insight on each offering, making us feel valued and appreciated patrons, advising based on our interests and likes to help us make decisions. Each of us was pleased with our various selections. While the soups were tempting on a cold night, I was delighted with the French-inspired Lyonnaise salad complete with a perfectly prepared soft boiled egg. My panko-encrusted swordfish with burre Blanc sauce was light and tasty. The gooey butter beignets were light on the gooey butter custard-like filling, as promised by our server (and more special than the typical St. Louis dessert), sprinkled with powdered sugar and drizzled with chocolate. Initially upon arrival, an adjacent table of younger women was unusually loud (in a space that doesn't absorb noise well) that I feared would spoil our evening; rather than approach them (tempted) or engage management, I glared a few times at them and it seemed to have resolved. Overall, this was a very enjoyable, comfortable, and satisfying dinner; we would return.
