The inside decor is diner style which is cool. The they have a few different options of pies and cookies. I opted for the Key Lime pie because you can't go wrong. The staff was so nice and friendly. She asked about my day and was very engaging. Unfortunately the pie wasn't the best. To me, it taste like store bought pie, nothing homemade. Had to stop by after some BBQ and we weren't disappointed. The store had a nice selection of pies, cookies etc. the cherry crumble and pecan pies were delicious, a real homemade treat. Each slice was big enough to cut in half and share. The person behind the counter was very nice and patient while we decided. The store is really cool with a retro flare. Had a phone booth, record player and throw back seating, really cool. I need to take my grandkids (age 9 & 10) so I can hear "what's that" LOL!! We'll definitely be back. sugarfire pie is very popular, so i think you should consider doing what i did and calling ahead to make sure the pie you want is still in stock. that said, you'll probably have to check out the menu first I would up getting the key lime pie, and I think i paid something like $25 dollars for it. I had a few missions in St. Louis. One of them was to find Gooey Butter Cake which is a city original. Friends turned me onto this place the day before I departed to head home. The recipe for gooey butter cake dates to the 1930's. A German/American baker in St. Louis reversed the proportions of butter and flour. The rest is history. Upon arriving the business was preparing for close in about 15 minutes. There were still customers seated and a few at counter waiting for bakery items. All I was praying for was that they had not run out of Gooey Butter Cake. The service was slow and we seemed to be ignored a bit. I get they were closing, but it seemed like a few staff was sweeping and dedicated to closing and not pushing customers through the line. Our party waited and scored the last Gooey Butter Slab as their store called it aka Gooey Butter Cake. Check out was fine, but again staff just seemed tired and to me that seemed unfriendly. I wanted to stop by and try the Sugar Fire gooey butter, it was delicious and enjoyable but not as big as I would like it..LOL. I say it's middle of the road, but they have a ton of other deserts. If you eat BBQ and the stop in for desert, that's the ultimate experience. If you just want some delicious sweet desert stop by anyway. Sugarfire originally opened as a "barbecue and pie place", but they ran out of space for the pies so they opened up this place next door. Have seasonal pies and everything else pie related, including hand dipped ice cream and pie shakes. Pie are served on metallic trays, and come in either slices or in full pies. I came in to treat a friend to some pie (he has been before), but neither of us seemed to pleased with the choices. The pie had also looked like they had been sitting out for days. The employee (only 1 working on a Sunday afternoon) did not seem to care to help us very quickly even when there were not many people in the store to begin with. One thing I noticed is they were not very sweet. If you prefer desserts that are not too sweet, this would be ideal. Since I eat a lot of sweets, I do enjoy desserts that are not masked by sugar. The pumpkin pie has a nice pumpkin flavor. It was fresh but actually not sweet enough. It was good, but would've been great if a little more sweetness. The crust was interesting and I like it. It was flaky yet a bit crispy and bit hard. It's unique but I enjoyed it. The Apple crumb was a tad sweeter and was good. There was a lot of apples! The crust was similar to the pumpkin pie crust. T totally disappointed. Went here today and was excited to try this place. I went for the Pecan Pie Cake (pecan pie inside of chocolate ganache cake). I love chocolate cake and I super love love pecan pie so how could this not be amazing? Oh but it wasn't - it was high as hell (the cost) and dry as hell (the taste). I can't tell if it was old or just overcooked - either way, YIKES!!! I'd just left the main food location and saw grand slices of pie and even saw people that had come from this pie location with large slices of the cake. Made my purchase and I get out of the store and look in my bag to put the receipt with my other receipts and I was shocked that I only received a sliver of pie cake. It looked like a sample but I just paid full price. I couldn't believe it so I walked back inside to question the portion I was given. The response was that since there was pie inside of a cake it was taller so that's why they cut the slices thinner. Say what now??? So a slice of cake is $5 and a slice of pie is $4 and some change and I paid $8, so to me that should warrant a comparable slice. Now the taste: the cake was dry as heck and there was barely any pecan pie inside of the chocolate cake. I've gotten moister chocolate cake from the Dominos Pizza deliveryman. I never understood why the Owners would open up a separate pie place when they sell it at the main location next door. Lesson learned, at least I can say I tried it but I won't be doing that anymore. This is located next to the Smokehouse next door. It's a neat idea overall, but I don't know think it really lives up to the Sugarfire name. It usually has a couple of varieties of pies, one or two cookies, and a few other sweets, but not much variety in the end. And not too much pie. My mother spoke with the manager of this store to custom order a cherry pie for my grandfather's birthday. All of her information was confirmed, the day and time it was supposed to be ready by was also confirmed. My mom showed up today to pick up the pie and the girl who was working had to call her manager who then told her that it "slipped her mind". The girl working then told my mother that they could make it and have it ready tomorrow which obviously wouldn't work because my grandfathers birthday is TODAY. That obviously was the whole reason for special ordering the pie to be ready for today. Then as my mom was leaving the girl working sarcastically said "well have a good day". Very disappointing when she could of special ordered a cherry pie at ANY bakery yet chose this one. This is a place where I need to spend more time. They are basically right next door to Sugarfire so it may be hard to ever order small enough to have room for dessert. The obvious solution is to eat small but we are talking Sugarfire so I really don't see that happening any time soon. What I cannot judge is the difference between dine-in pie and carry-out pie. My experience there last week involved carry-out pie. I took home a slice of apple bacon cheddar pie. I've had bacon and cheddar together before. I've had apple pie and cheddar together also. I've never had all three on my fork at the same time but it certainly worked for me. Unfortunately, or may it was fortunately, the wife and kid 2 disliked the pie so that meant more for me. I found the pie very full of just barely still crisp slices of apple with a yummy crumb topping and a buttery crust. The cheddar and bacon were chopped up and tossed with the crumb topping. I liked the concept and really couldn't have come up with a better way to integrate those two ingredients into a pie. They make a good number of other varieties as well. At $5/slice it is a bit spendy for carry-out pie but the slice was good sized...and fresh...and inventive...and delicious! read more

I walked in ready to LOVE this place. Unfortunately, the slab pie, hand pie, and chocolate bacon were all overpriced and bland... The bourbon caramel apple slab pie was undercooked. The pie crust on the bottom was soggy and wet, pale colored (almost white), and doughy. The apple filling was sparse, and overwhelmed by the crust. The top of the pie was a light tan, and had a bit of crumb, but the dough tasted overworked as it was dense and not tender or flaky. This was not worth four dollars. It was also prewrapped in Saran Wrap. This is acceptable packaging at a church bake sale, not the most expensive pie shop in St. Louis. The chocolate bacon was unfortunately covered in chocolate on both sides, which then drowned the bacon flavor in mediocre chocolate. It was one dollar a slice, I will gladly pay that if it's done well, but it was not worth it. I hope they tweak this product. A better quality dark chocolate painted on one side only is an easy fix. I also got a cherry hand pie. It skimped on filling, and the pastry was not flaky, and was quite bland. The prices are very high. The quality is not equal to the price. I might stop in again to sample a pie or two, but I make all three of the things I tried on this trip much better. read more

Don't get me wrong, the pie is good. There's a reason I went there in the first place, but for $28, it better knock my socks off, and it just didn't. I heated my cherry pie and put cool whip on top..so very disappointed I bite into a seed or pit.
