I had never tried sugaring before. In fact, I had no idea of what it was when I walked in. I saw "Brazilian" at a sign on their storefront and figured it was waxing - which was what I was looking for. So I asked if they had availability and they actually did in 40 minutes. So I ran some errands in the area and then came back. The lady in charge of "sugaring" me explained what the material was made of - sugar + water + lemon. She explained the benefits when compared to waxing, such as lower temperature, therefore not burning the skin; less or non existent ingrown hair caused by the process; less aggressive to the skin overall. She started and I was amazed at how much less it hurts when compared to waxing. It is just a bit uncomfortable when she is applying the "sugar taffy" (sorry I didn't have a better word to describe it) because it goes in the opposite direction of hair growth. Anyway, I became a fan of it and totally recommend sugaring. The skin is not super dry after doing it. In fact, I would say it is a bit smoother. I didn't get any redness either. Boy was I nervous when I walked in to get sugared! I was so anxious because I hadn't waxed in a while but getting sugared felt like a sting compared to the numbing waxing pain. I got full arms done and my bill came up to $67 with a 15% tip. Obv, this place is slightly on the higher end yet I would recommend going here if you have sensitive skin as the service was great! The decor was really cute with poppin girly music and the aestheticians looked really young! Also, their prices for Bikini and Brazilian were cheap compared to that of European Wax Center. They also offer a buy one get one for individuals sugaring bikini areas! $7 for upper lips eh. So if you've been wanting to try sugaring this place is a recommend + I AM SOLD ON SUGARING. I love this place! I was initially scared to try sugaring before I started going there a few years ago because I read some articles stating it was more appropriate for finer hairs, but I'm glad I decided to ignore the articles and try for myself. New customers get an introductory offer, which is two services for the price of one and that incentive reeled me in. Sugaring removes my hair easily and my skin feels much smoother than after a hard wax. Plus the price is amazing compared to what I pay for hard wax in NJ. I only have two complaints: some of the newer staff aren't as good as the old sugaristas I used to see and leave some hair behind and cause more pain. I definitely think they could benefit from slowing down, making full use of the allotted appointment time and improving their technique. However, I just saw Hannah (I think that was her name) this wknd and she was awesome, best sugarista yet, she got damn near every hair and her technique was spot on because I barely felt any pain at all. Moreover, she did the thing that a lot of the sugaristas at this salon don't do, but should do, she immediately presses down on the area that was just sugared which really helps to reduce the immediate pain after the hair is ripped off. My other complaint is that I wish they had a salon in central NJ so that I wouldn't have to make a 50 minute drive and deal with parking issues! read more

I have been happy with the sugaring service at S+B. The sugaring itself is definitely less painful than waxing and my skin is not irritated afterwards as it is after a wax. It is also fast - in and out within 25 minutes. They run a tight operation and seem to run on time. The only reason I'm removing stars is because of cleanliness. Both times I've gone there have been hairs visible on the waxing table when I entered. It doesn't bother me wildly, and it's what I would expect from a cheaper salon, but at their price point it's not acceptable. Nevertheless, I'll continue to go back. EDIT: Within 24 hours of posting, a manager reached out to me to apologize and tell me she had passed along the feedback. Very responsive management. read more

Had my first appointment with Mindy last night (luck of the draw!) and loved her! I've been sugared a few times in various cities and this was probably my favorite (read: least painful and most comfortable) experience thus far. Her technique was spot on (for me anyway) and while you will never avoid all pain with a Brazilian, there definitely are techniques that lessen the uncomfortableness. I came here for the first time last night. From the start the customer service is wonderful, I was running late and called to tell them, and they were so sweet about it, and held my appointment for me! My technician Laura explained the two different kinds of tans to me - express and standard. Express you shower off anywhere from 1-4 hours after the tan and it keeps developing, and standard you keep on for 10 or more hours and then shower off. I wanted to be able to shower before bed so I choose express. When the tan is being applied you and your technician are in a small, private room. The whole place, including the tanning rooms, is really clean and pretty. They provide hair caps, bobby pins, makeup removers and disposable thongs for you (some cost $1 but its worth avoiding anything getting stained). The spray tan itself is very cold, but that is my one and only complaint and not something they can really help, I'm just preparing you! Laura was super sweet and engaged me and made me feel comfortable the whole time, and she was super thorough - much more than any other spray tan technician I've ever had! The process takes about 10 minutes of spraying and then you can dry off for as long as you want. Another warning, you will feel sticky after, but that's ok! Bring some loose fitting clothes and you'll be fine! I waited about 2 1/2 hours to shower. With the express, the longer you wait, the darker your tan will be. One more disclosure - at first after my shower I didn't feel tan at all, but the tan keeps developing and now, about 11 hours later my tan is perfect. The application is super even, and it doesn't look fake at all, just a nice healthy bronze! I have already booked my next appointment for next week before I leave for vacation! Lastly, they are incredibly reasonable for a spray tan, for first time customers it is $39 for two spray tans, which is a great deal especially for such a good tan. read more

I came in last week prior to a bachelorette weekend in Florida for my first ever spray tan. I am about as pale as they come so I was a bit nervous it would be a disaster. All of the staff were super friendly and the salon itself is beautiful. My technician walked me through my options and I chose the express tan so I wouldn't have to go to sleep feeling sticky- definitely happy with that choice. The tan itself took about 20 minutes and my technician talked to me the whole time which made me feel more comfortable. I showered it off 90 minutes later and the next day it was perfect. I thought it looked extremely natural (once I got used to being the most bronzed I have ever been!) and it wasn't orange at all. They provide you with special "blocking" lotion to apply to your hands, elbows, and feet prior to the tan so nothing clumped in those areas. Additionally, I followed their instructions to exfoliate prior to the tan and keep skin super moisturized before/after. It's been a week (which included multiple workouts, swims, showers, etc) and my tan is still on (faded, but still there) with no streaking or weird looking areas. Overall, I was really pleased with my experience and am already planning my next appointment. If you are hesitant about spray tanning, I say- just go here once, you will change your opinion! read more

I had never gotten a spray tan before trying out Sugared + Bronzed. I made a last minute decision to get the tan, and I was so nervous going in. The girls at the front desk were so nice and welcoming. They talked me through the process and various options (standard vs. express, color selection, etc.), and answered any questions I had. I was expecting a machine to spray me, but the tan is done in person with an airbrush gun. I definitely wasn't expecting to strip, but you can wear as much/little as you want and my tanner (Emily) was soo sweet. The whole thing only took 20 minutes, and I was done. I was worried about being too dark/orange/streaky, but the tan was seamless and the perfect color! It turned out exactly as I hoped. Would definitely recommend this place! read more

I've been here twice now for sugaring, and it's been great so far. I used to get Brazilian waxes regularly, and since switching to sugaring I've noticed slower hair growth. Sugaring is less painful than waxing (also, less wasteful) but it definitely doesn't tickle. Take an Advil prior to your appointment if you're nervous about the pain.
