BEWARE--$464.00 per night after the resort added all of their fees and taxes. Our Unit #115!--Disappointed! We have been coming here for years and took a break for a few. We came back Oct 1st 2025- and was so disappointed to see how this place has gone down. There was no wi-fi available for this room. Had to go on deck since no service in room. poorly managed, amenities are not accurately depicted in the pictures posted online. Condo does not address repairs -AC filter was filthy and the AC would not cool until the filter was removed. None of my concerns were ever addressed after many text messages and calls. I spent my time calling and text messaging OWNER. I plan to place a review on social media with pic of this horrible event. This is unacceptable.  Upon entering the room, we were immediately confronted with the following unsanitary and unacceptable conditions:-Heavy dust accumulation on multiple surfaces, indicating a lack of routine cleaningWhat we didn't know the unit smelled musty/moldy, None of this shows on pictures.  This is not the first negative review of this complex. They date back to 2012. This is an ongoing issue and all they care about is renting regardless of the condition of the units.    If a Maui condo lied about a functioning hot tub and Wi-Fi, you should immediately document the issues and contact the property management or booking platform to request a refund or compensation for the misrepresentation-I did--- . Look for reviews from other guests to see if these problems are recurring, and understand your rights as a consumer in such situations to ensure fair resolution   Document the Problems: Take photos and videos of the non-working hot tub and any evidence that the Wi-Fi doesn't function as advertised. Note the dates and times you experienced these issues   Directly Contact the Owner/Manager: Reach out to the owner or the property management company immediately to explain the situation and request a resolution. Misrepresentation: If the property was advertised with amenities that were not provided or did not function, you may be entitled to a partial or full refund. Consumer Protection: Familiarize yourself with the consumer protection laws of Hawaii and the terms of service for the platform you used to book -ALOHA--

It's a very beautiful and quiet beach, very few tourists, mostly a local beach for residents. It's long and narrow, very comfortable to walk along and observe the islands over the other side.

Gorgeous views, perfect weather, grounds beautiful and every reason to just stay!!!! Which I did, only now living in Kailua (with the fires they need vacancies) but sugar beach and all of Maui is my truly favorite place on earth.

There are a lot of things to love about this beach. It's very long, soft sand, not crowded at all, peaceful. There is very calm, clear water and it is shallow for quite a ways out. Still get some small waves near the shore. The incredible silhouette of Kaho'olawe on the horizon coming out of the water. The beach itself is not steep going to the water so the waves come ashore gently and for a long distance which I thought was unique and cool. The distance from the grass to the water can be quite short which to me is neither a positive or negative. It was quite windy the day we went but due to the short distance of grass to water, no sand was flying around so another plus - the wind also helped keep us cool. Beautiful, relaxing large beach with a small beach feel.

I love this beach so much. I don't get to go to the beach as often as I used to, but when I do, this is one of my favorites on Maui. A lot of special memories here. Soft sand. View is absolutely gorgeous.

Sweet beach spot to chill at since there aren't many people here due to the lack of giant resorts. Parking is tight so if you get a spot, stay a while. Just look for the wooden walkway off of rt 31 toward Kihei. Serene as hell. Calm water and soft sand....yaaaahh Mahalo and Mele Kalikimaka, Kama'aina

A favorite beach 4 R&R & usually very few people during the week! I luv resting here after a long bike ride to Maalaea!! It's great for picnic & long walks or jogs on the beach.... It's one of the longest beaches on Maui!! The later afternoons can get quite windy due to being in the Valley! I also enjoy watch the planes do their turn around overhead before they head towards Kahului for landing! A note of caution: Watch for large thorns around the trees along road side & under trees! They really hurt & some r quite large! Towards the middle of the long stretch of beach there is quite a rocky ledge and a little dangerous getting in & out of the water there; but that area is usually the most desolate!! The northern part of the beach gets more trade winds in the late afternoons. Another issue is most parking is roadside and can be hard to find on Holidays! Try the nice boardwalk & natural bird habitat & viewing area! There is a small parking lot there which is convenient. Overall Sugar Beach is very relaxing & usually sunny all year!

"Sugar Beach" is the unofficial name of the beach that spans the width of Maalaea Bay along north Kihei Road and the Kealia Pond National Wildlife Refuge. It's a long, narrow beach with calm waters and awesome sunsets. The only downfall is that there are no restroom facilities. Be careful of the shade trees as they are kiawe and have huge thorns which are in the sand!

If you are looking for a quite secluded beach with a view and silky sand, you have found it. However... Not the best place to swim or snorkel. I would head farther east to the resort beaches which are also free and public...they have clearer water with larger beaches and you can snorkel or boogie board or stand up paddle board on them... however, it is not bad either. That being said, it is still lovely and a great stretch of beach to jog, walk or see the sunset!

Very chill beach with not that many people. Limited parking and no showers to wash off so be aware! Explored this beach since it was near where we were staying. Not that many people hanging out in the water or laying out but there were a few people fishing!

Sugar beach is behind the is sanctuary. Fine sand clear waters - it was the last beach we went to during our stay and we LOVED it. It wasn't crowded and you can walk to the rocks and see marine life in the tide pools. Lots of sea cucumbers, small fish and sea urchins. Great spot to hang out. We also saw a couple of turtles!!

One of the best beaches I've ever seen in my life! So beautiful and so clear water! Very clean golden sand. I will go back soon.

Ask the Community - Sugar Beach

    Is my dog allowed here?

At the beach itself, I think so! I've brought my dog and have seen other dogs. Of course on a leash. But at the hotel nearby, I'm not sure.
