Staying in Kihei we found the beaches to be just a little crowded and lacking some of the nicer touches like clean restrooms and showers. All the beaches on the island are beautiful and great for a visit by the seashore, but we made our way to a beach a few miles away that was perfect. Be careful when driving to Wailea Beach because the entrance is nestled between two big resorts and the signage is not that noticeable. From the main roadway you drive down a nice paved road with plenty of parking. After parking you head down the pathway past clean, inviting restrooms and showers to find a beautiful beach with some rocky ridges as well as wonderful sandy stretches of beach. Next time we're staying in Kihei I'm sure we'll make our way back here again.

Your kisses lift me higher Like the sweet song of a choir You light my morning sky With burning love.... This is one of those beaches where you can get married, renew your vowels or just simply enjoy the majestic sunsets. You can stroll along the walking path. Soft sands and waves crashing in is the perfect way to spend your day. We caught part of a Luau unexpectedly on our stroll. So grab a towel, sunblock (unless you're into he lobster look), kick your feet back and enjoy the views.

It's a bit of a touristy beach but has something for everyone - surfers, swimmers, body boarders, even snorkelers although there might not be much to see out there. Waves are relatively calm compared to some other nearby beaches.

We had 4.5 days in Maui with a whole list of sites and eats to get through. When I tell people this, the first thing they wonder is whether we got a chance to really relax. Well, we sat on this beach for a whole 30 minutes, haha! At the end of the day, we came here around 7:00 PM for one of the last stops of the evening. This beach has beautiful soft white sand and would be the perfect spot to catch the sunset. Four Seasons Resort and various vacation condos are nearby, so people still actively came and went even this late in the day. I can imagine it's much more crowded in the morning and afternoon, so this actually turned out to be a nice time to visit. There was a small inlet with some little chairs that I'm guessing belong to the Four Seasons, but they were not being monitored, so anyone could grab one to use. They did not have any umbrellas though, so unless you bring your own, there is no coverage along the shoreline to protect you from the blazing sun. We sat in the sand for a bit, enjoying the sound of the waves. Once the tide started rolling in, we drove over to the nearby Wailea Shops for some ice cream!

Easily one of my favorite beaches in Maui. The sand is always so soft and it's almost white. The water is always perfect and super clear. There aren't any rocks in the water which is such a plus when going in. I highly recommend this area.

Love this stretch of beach between hotels. Make me feel mighty as I storm down the beach and show my privilege... Amazing sandy beaches for laying out during the day. Yet my favorite highlight is the evening sunsets with radiant sky's as the backdrop to the ocean. As day becomes night with the sun dropping below the surface of the earth it always gives me goosebumps. Visuals of a Kaleidoscope eyes is breathtaking experience and everyone should share in my amazing life. Aloha and grove on the sky's. And if all possible listen to Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon! It will blow your mind.

This is the beach that most bougie vacationers go to, a la (literally) White Lotus. Endless silky white sand, crystal-clear waters, palm trees for days-- it's luxurious to even think about. Located between the Grand Wailea and Four Seasons (thankfully still accessible to the public). We visited a few times and, while it gets pretty busy, we never had issues parking or finding a spot on the sand. Rinse stations and restrooms were available along the shore. No lifeguards tho. Quite peaceful-- the epitome of relaxation. You can easily spend hours swimming or relaxing on the sand. Several beachfront restaurants and boutiques are just a walk away, so you're never too far from things to do.

What if I told you you could go to the same beach that the Four Seasons (aka White Lotus - Hawaii) uses for free? It's true - there's a free public parking place right by the Wailea Beach. Of course; it's an absolutely lovely beach. Fine sand; sandy bottom; and you're able to touch the bottom far out into the warm and beautiful water. We even saw a turtle swimming along! Minus one star because at least when we were there it was more crowded than any other beach we went to.

This was one of our favorite beaches to visit in Maui! The beach was beautiful! It was shallow and allowed for people to actually enjoy the beach without having a huge drop off into deeper water.

Before the pandemic, we always came to Maui in the winter time, anytime except the Christmas holidays, to escape tourists with their kids. Kids are like me and my ex -we don't mix! We bring our own snorkel gear on the plane, as my wife is also a scuba diver, and has a prescription snorkel mask, and state of the art air tube. We take only a single pair of 15" mini fins, compared to the 21" regular fins, to fit in the carry on luggage. In the past we've stayed at the Maui Banyon, a luxury condominium resort timeshare complex, about a 12 minute walk to the center of Kamaole 2 beach. Kamaole 2 is not a good snorkeling beach however. We usually drive to Ulua beach, 2 miles south, one of the premiere snorkel sites in Maui. Molokini is prettier with more fish, but now as full of boats as the Spanish Armada! Besides why pay an arm and a leg just to go snorkeling, when you can snorkel right out the door of your hotel!? I've got on my swim pants, my XXL T-shirt, way too big, given to me by me ex wife, one of the few things she's given me, besides white hairs! Both items, the swim pants and the T-shirt, not the ex-wife(!), to remain in Hawaii after I return home. Snorkeling is best done on sunny days in the morning, as the currents build up and muddy the water with sand particles by mid day. The 50 car Ulua beach parking usually fills up by 9am in the mornings. Would not be a problem except my wife needs her beauty rest on vacation, and always eats breakfast first thing in the morning. Ulua parking lot filled? Drive out, and drive half mile South on Wailea Alanui Dr. past the Shops of Wailea complex, making a right turn into the 30 vehicle parking lot for Wailea Beach. I store my electronic car key in a heavy duty, water-proof plastic pouch, available at any dive shop or Amazon, and hang it around my neck, inside my T-shirt. . I'm wearing a T-shirt, as the T-shirt prevents sunburn on the back when the sun shines bright, and offers protection from getting scratched on rocks and coral reef. My wife wears a 0.5 mil light weight wet suit mainly for body warmth, and prescription goggles -that's why she can't rent out snorkel outfits for $10 a week from snorkel Bob's!. She's also wearing mini fins, while I'm wearing my river sandals, good for snorkeling in calm waters. In rough waters, I'm counting on the wife pulling me out! These beaches have toilets, outdoor showers for washing off the sand, but no changing rooms. So you have to arrive and depart in your swimming trunks. Wailea beach is perhaps a quarter mile long, very broad in most areas, open with no shade, nested between the Grand Wailea and Four Seasons Hotel, for those who can afford the $600 a night rent. Much of the area directly in front of both hotels is covered by folding chairs with sun umbrellas, rented out by the hotels to their well to do guests. Have to walk at least a good 200 yards to find a suitable spot to snorkel on Wailea Beach, preferably somewhere near a rocky ledge on the south side of the Beach. We go get on our snorkel mask and breathing tube, wet the mask to seal it, and go in -me forward, and she with the fins backward, so she doesn't tear the fin. We stay for about 90 minutes doing snorkeling, and looking at the tropical fishes, before calling it a day. I don't go out too far beyond where my toes can touch the bottom. Eventually salt water leaks into my mask, and after a while stings the eyes. By the time we get back to the Wailea beach parking lot, every spot is taken. If the Wailea parking lot is filled, you can drive another half mile on Wailea Alanui Dr. just past the Fairmont Hotel and turn right onto Kaukahi St into a third parking lot for Polo Beach. The paved 2 mile long Wailea pedestrian beach path connects Ulua Beach, Wailea Beach, and Polo Beach. Bring extra beach towels, as you're going to be driving back in a wet swim suit, as no changing rooms at the beach. Last thing you want to do is sit in your white shorts on a wet spot on the driver seat, when going out to dinner that night. People will think you had some leakage!

This beach is a hidden gem. IT IS BEAUTIFUL!!!! The water was clear it was quiet and soooo very peaceful. It was heaven. We rented a umbrella and chairs for $30 from the local business and it was awesome. I highly recommend this beach if you are looking for a drama and stress free day with a beautiful view!!!!

So absolutely beautiful, the entire island of Maui! But it's the people that made me move here. There's nothing and nowhere like the islands of Hawaii!

Hard to go wrong with any beach in South Maui, but I'm ranking this one up there next to the more well known Makena Beach. The sand is as soft and clean (maybe just not as white). The water is clear and the waves are definitely calm/not as ferocious as Makena. BYO-umbrella as there's no shade along the shoreline. The wind factor is minor and won't flip your umbrella either. Free parking was easy to obtain, as long as you research and find them between the resorts.

There were plenty of spaces when we arrived on a Monday in February around noon. It had rained earlier but we found a table that was dry to eat our lunch. The restroom had toilet paper. We didn't go down onto the beach. Instead we headed north on the beach walk to Wailea Beach. Along the way there were signs about some of the plants. We also passed some magnificent condos which must have had spectacular views. We ended up only walking less that half of the beach walk because the sun came out and we forgot our sun block. If we ever return to Maui, I'd like to do the rest of the beach walk.

I was with my 9 year old and my mother and the beach had large boulders at the wave line. It was making me very nervous. We walked down further from the parking lot and the waves eased up a bit, but the water is not clear at all due to the sand getting mixed with the waves. And then you have the big rocks.
