Pretty nice beach with minimal street parking available so it's tough when it's busy. We pulled the wagon and the sand is sloped and very soft so it was very difficult to pull the wagon across the beach. Also, when we went, it was 30 mph wind so Sam pelting us in all over and it was kind of painful. That being said the water is super clear and nice and cool so it's nice on the hot day. read more

Baby Beach, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo. Baby Beach! Nothing like a beach to yourself. Some were leaving as clouds rolled in prior to the tropical storm. It's nestled in a residential neighborhood, parking along the street just be mindful of the residents. There isn't a bathroom or wash station so we used a bucket of mother natures finest seawater to wash off the sand. We weren't completely alone as we had two turtles swimming nearby, which made our day even better. There are places marked off for turtle eggs, must be a baby beach for tiny humans and tiny turtles. There is a ocean wall in the water here so it makes things really calm, great for kids or just relaxing in the water. Not too busy of a place, very serene. Such a hidden gem! There is a break wall here that protects a cove for you to swim out of the surf. No public parking, however, so you either have to find somewhere to park in the residential area or park and Baldwin Beach and walk about 15 minutes. You can't see it from Baldwin Beach FYI but it is there just walk all the way to the west end. Not as much sea life as the Lahaina Baby Beach but got to swim near a turtle. read more

Baby Beach is located in Sprecklesville just before Baldwin Beach if you're heading into Paia. It's actually the very west end of Baldwin Beach, by the Maui Country Club. A large coral reef protects the shore from the pounding waves like an outstretched arm, creating a barrier and allows the often strong swells to gently flow into the little lagoon, which makes this beach a popular spot for the keiki and their families. During low tide, it's basically a very large salt water pool and the little ones can just swim and splash about without having to worry about the push and pull of the tide. Mornings are usually best to visit. Once the winds kick up in the afternoon, the sand blows everywhere and it can get pretty annoying quick, even painful! The small forested area provides ample shade if you didn't bring an umbrella or tent and the reef and rocky areas are fun to explore with all the sea life and schools of fish. Turtles can often be found here as well. Just be careful not to mistake one for one of the large rocks. Parking can be tough as the normal spot at the red dirt point is currently blocked off. You're lucky if you can score a spot closeby as it's in a residential street. It's also gotten much much more busy since we've opened back up. On my last visit it was pretty crowded and very little people wore a mask even though they were not swimming/in the water. Might be a deal breaker for others, but we just kept a pretty good distance from others. read more

We went here thinking it's a beach for babies because I read the coral protects the area so the current is gentle. It was definitely not gentle when we went. The weather was insane in March and the waves were so strong they looked dangerous to try swimming. The sand was the worst part. We relocated several times but the wind whips up sheets of sand into our faces, going into ears and noses and sandblasting our legs. Not to be dramatic but it was quite painful. Even hunkering down with towels wasn't enough to hide from the sand. It felt like a scene out of dune and we were hunting for spice. Anyway I'm sure this is a nice beach on days when the weather is cooperating and the water is nice and gentle enough to support human life. We did see some turtles resting from the crazy waves though so that was nice. read more

Beautiful beach but it was really windy and so we couldn't go snorkeling to see turtles. There was an area on the beach roped off to protect the turtle eggs! Also the sand is a little bigger and rougher here and so it hurt when the sand blew on our faces. Check weather before coming but it's definitely still worth a stop! read more

Some of the clearest water I've seen in Hawaii. It's supposed to be a beach for kids, but I saw more adults than kids. It's a nice location, but the restrooms seemed closed as was the benches. Still, a good spot. If you want a nice beach, it's hard to top. read more

Beautiful perfect little quiet beach for families with younger children. The waves here are so calm and tranquil with great water clarity on a day where other beaches weren't recommended from the snorkel report for safety reasons. Wish we would have found this little gem earlier and not our last day in vacation. But it was magical we got to swim and experience up close photos with the green sea turtles. Make sure to always respect & give the sea turtles 10+ feet of room as these are protected Animals. We saw little baby sharks, and lots of fish a truly magical way to end our trip. Can't wait to return again. Parking is tough to find please do not park the small alley way that has signs everywhere saying no parking we saw a few people parking there sadly. read more

This is probably my favorite beach in Maui thus far! My best friend had told me about this so we checked it out while on our trip and were NOT disappointed. Parking was easy and convenient as it is literally right off the beach. The beach was very clean and the water was super calm! This was the best part, as you can swim out further and there are no rough waves. I saw several turtles while swimming here and some really pretty fish. Tricky to find and parking is street only. Please refer to my photo on where to drive then park. Its so worth it!!! Great beach for swimming. The reef helps break the waves and makes for a calmer, clear swimming beach. We even saw a sea turtle swim right by us! Lots of shade. We went in the morning at 9:30-11:30 on a Saturday in January. Not crowded at all, but I'm from SoCal so Saturdays at the beach are usually awful, so this was lovely! The current was very strong! But just go with the flow like it's a lazy river, go to the end then get out and walk back to the far left and do it again! We climbed into the reef and explored. So amazing! We loved it! We would've stayed all day but our baby needed a nap and we didn't pack lunch! However I heard it gets super windy there in afternoons and kicks sand up in your face. But if you're swimming the entire time maybe it wouldnt matter. Its a must to go to this beach!!! Beautiful! read more

Day 3: -Walked to Baby Beach - Very calm, clear water. (I could get used to this kind of life real quick, especially the sitting with dirty feet and reading about Hooters part.) Really enjoying Tina Fey's book Bossypants. During part of my time reading a woman stood right beside me and started yelling at her husband out in the water, for probably 45 seconds. I was ten feet from her and couldn't what she said however. He was about 90 feet from both of us so I know he couldn't hear her either. He stayed out there another 15 minutes and then came to shore where she yelled at him again and he appeared surprised and seemed not to have even seen nor heard her yelling to begin with. Oh baby beach in Paia/Sprecks! It's not just for babies as one may think by the name. It's a really chill spot to... chill. Pros: nice calm shallow water for lap swimming, teaching the dogs to swim/paddle board, easy water fun. I've even watched parents teach their kids to SUP/stand up on a kite board here. There's a nice reef wall that shield the "baby pool" from the shore break. Water is constantly flowing in and out so it doesn't get gross and stagnant. It's a long, narrow beach that connects to Baldwin beach and beyond so you can get a good beach walk/run in. The water is so blue and so clear and beautiful. The red sand parking lot is so gorgeous against the blue water/sky... makes for great photos. There's lots of space to spread out. Friendly dogs are welcome here. Cons: Parking can be really annoying on a busy day. You'll have to bring an extra dose of patience with you.. or I've also parked at Baldwin and walked to Baby beach if I don't have a lot of stuff with me. FYI: The wind gets crankin' after 9:30 (north shore) so be aware. Umbrellas and sun shelters may try to fly away. There are no bathrooms and no lifeguards. The earlier you go, the better. Less crowded. Less wind. More space. More fun. It's got a good vibe and lots of smiling faces. See you at da beach :) read more

Another great Maui beach for kids. This beach is unique as a reef is set out from the shoreline about 40 feet that breaks all the waves coming in from the sea. The beach area and water near the shore is calm so the kids can snorkel, swim and play without worry of string waves. Trees shade the area and provide nice shade. A turtle was resting on the beach when we arrive so we were lucky to see the turtle up close. We also saw many turtles swimming near the shoreline during our visit. The afternoon we visited, it was very windy and it felt like we were sitting in the middle of a sand storm from time to time. We ended up using a towel to shield us from the sand blowing our way. read more

GREAT FOR KIDS! Except when the wind sandblasts you. I've had the best whole body microdermabrasion here last year. It is a good place to take your kids and pets to due to the reef barrier that formed a lagoon. My little cutie pie's favorite is snorkling on the rocky side at high tide. You have to be right beside them to make sure when a rogue wave comes over the reef, you can grab your little one from getting away from you. He found sea cucumbers, sea snails, crabs, little fishies and sea urchins. If you're lucky, you'll spot a white needle fish, I think is cool! There's not much of a shade nor any restroom facilities here. It's okay, because It's far from a pee pool, the lagoon overflows at high tide and drains during low tide. **This is not worth the forty-five minute or an hour drive, unless you want to travel this far or you're going to be visiting Upcountry. If you're staying South side, do Ahi'hi Cove. If you're on the West side, you should go to Napili or Kapalua Bay. read more

Located at the East end of Baldwin Beach on Maui's North Shore, this is a great place for the little ones to swim and practice snorkeling. A barrier that created a break in the waves creates a calm swimming area that still has some current, but is totally safe for beginners to learn. When it get windy, it can be pretty miserable, not because the swimming gets shopping, but because the sand whips up pretty hard. There are also no facilities at this site, so you have to travel a little further west on Hana Highway to use the Baldwin Beach amenities. read more

Our family spent the entire day here. Beautiful beach with calm and clear water. One of the best beaches we've been to in Maui. Water is so clear. My kids swam way out to snorkel and was still able to stand up because the water was so low. They saw a lot of different fishes. Many families with young kids but plenty of room. It is not crowded at all. Parking is across from the beach access. Do not park in the main residential homes. There is a sign that says no beach parking on that street. And on your way out there is a garbage can and recycling basket to throw out your trash. There are no public restrooms or shower. This is a gem hidden between residential homes. Just follow your GPS and you shouldn't have any problems finding it. read more

We went here and didn't have any kids with us. We parked for free by the Buddhist Temple. It was a short flat walk to the beach. The water is very calm and great for floating on a raft or paddle boarding. It also has decent snorkeling as there are quite a few turtles. We spent two 8 hour days at this beach and we had a glorious time. read more

I really like this beach because it's close to town when I don't feel like driving to south or west Maui. As the name implies it's a popular beach for parents with small kids because of the unique coral reef that blocks the waves and makes swimming safer. A lot of local people enjoy this beach and bring their dogs to run around off leash. It's also a great beach for honus. The day we went here it was so windy!! Definitely put on goggles or sunglasses to protect your eyes and your kids! The water was calm and there was a tidepool area that the kids didn't want to leave because they wanted to catch fish. The bigger fish are closer to the reef. There's a bit of a shaded area near the trees. There's a small parking lot close to the beach but you can also park on the street. Just be careful of the parking signs. My other backyard. I live in Paia so often come here to walk down to Baldwin and back. Great place for if you have little ones. Sometimes the trade winds picks up and it's not fun to sit there during high winds nthe swimming area is perfect for babies, kids, dogs. You can do lap swimming there feeling safe since the reef barrier adds to a perfect protection from open water. Sometimes you see sea turtle. Please give them space and leave them alone as they rest on shore. read more

My husband and I were looking for a calm beach...this is definitely not that! Haha! It is a perfect beach if you want to go boogie boarding or body surfing. Baby Beach is one of my all time favorites! Sometimes referred to as "Spreckelsville Beach" and as it's name suggests, it's great for Kids and novice snorkelers. This is the windward side of Maui and the conditions are much different that that of Kihei or Lahaina. BEFORE we even venture out to this beach we check the conditions. What is the projected weather forecast? What are the tides doing? What is the forecast for the tradewinds? What day of the week is it? If you can pick a Monday or Tuesday, it's usually pretty quiet. Also go as early as you can for 2 reasons, weather is always better for snorkeling and you want to get your place in the sun. All of these things listed, are important if you are to have a good time. Weather and surf are two things that can really put disaster into the experience. Slacker tide is what you are looking for. THe reef has two sections and you can snorkel between and around them. When the tide gets rolling it can cause quite a bit drag. Like dragging you out to sea or into the reef around you. Being aware of the surf and the wind can make the difference in the conditions at any given time. There have been times we driven the 40 minutes to get there to find that everything changed dramatically. In that event we wander over to Kanaha Beach in Kahului. Great fun to watch the wind surfers and decide where on the island to to next. South Kihei and Lahaina are almost always a sure bet. As you approach the crossroads in central Maui you can pretty much see the weather forecast either way. So my roommate really wants a baby. We live with a small pack of mini schnauzers and keep thinking that having a human baby might help us out with making more human friends. (And when it gets bigger, it can help do the dishes) Over the past few months, we have been talking about getting ourselves a baby, but since we both aren't the luckiest with the man pool, we tried to adopt. The adoption people made us feel like dummies because we both work a lot, but are poor. They told us stupid stuff, like, "who will watch the baby when you are at work" ^^^ remember our super awesome dog pack. Yeah, they take care of each other. "How will you feed the baby with your limited income?"...Duh, the dude obvi didn't read that my job is at Jack in the Box...I can take home as many fries as I want every night. Soooo, Kimmy, my roommate heard about this beach where you get babies. As soon as we got there, we knew it was cool. The ocean was bluer than the other beaches. Like, as blue as that stuff that cleans the toilet. We pulled out our towels and set up camp. There were babies EVERYWHERE. It was Easter Sunday so they all looked super good, too. We spent hours picking out our babies. The people they were with didn't care at all. They kept smoking pot, hula hooping, and talking about their dread locks. We kicked it with our babies and a dog that we found. I started to get a sunburn, so we decided to leave. When we got to the car with our babies, some Nosy Nancy decided that we needed special rich people seats for our babies. She blabbed and blabbed about good momming and caused such a ruckus that the baby people came around and took our babies from us and were like, "not cool, our babies". I guess they got first dibs, but, hey, finders keepers. So, at least we scored a dog to add to our pack...Oh, and the sand was super big here...If you want a baby, bring a fancy seat. read more
