I really like this place. I've had multiple sugar wax gals (Alyssa is awesome), and they were all fabulous. The gals made me feel at ease and were professional. The best part about it is that your hair takes a while to grow back vs. shaving, which can leave irritation and razor bumps. She was unwilling to help resolve the problem. She went as far as to speak negatively about her own employees and their incompetence proving the error was not my fault. Well... I was really excited for this. It was my first time waxing brazilian and just sugaring so I was definitely nervous and let them know kinda seeking for reassurance that never came but the reviews were great so I follow through. The morning off, my face waxing appt gets cancelled because the technician called out which is fine, but they still moved my brazilian appt to the time of the face and they explained they couldn't change it because they had to move the schedule around. Okay understood not a big deal but I think because they were understaffed or because they had to move appointments around things felt a little rush by the time of my appointment. I was really nervous and scared, and to be honest didn't know what to expect and I don't think the technician knew how to make me more comfortable. I expressed it was my first time multiple times and that I was nervous, to which the technician just follow through her steps as usual (I assume) I didn't feel any extra care being my first time feeling the way I was which I've heard its very important for first timers. Throughout the sugaring I kept asking for breaks and she was giving them to me, but it still felt rush and unwanted?... i really don't think I was taking a long time but honestly I was in so much pain I guess I really just wanted comfort and all the technician kept saying was sorry and then kept going I won't come back honestly, did not have a good time. I get it, times are hard. As a small business owner myself I've kept putting this review on hold. On the day of my service there was a huge car crash on Firestone and Lakewood. I immediately called them to notify them I was probably running 3-5 minutes behind. The receptionist informs me that they will cancel my appointment after 10minutes. Excited to try them out I'm trying to rush and make it before they cancel my appointment. I get there about 6minutes after my scheduled appointment, and I'm waiting maybe about a minute or two for the receptionist to come to the front. She then walks me to the back and it becomes a back and forth about whether or not I made it on time... I believe (the owner- she appeared to be the owner) comes in and at this point I'm just ready to go. I don't want to be rushed and I don't want to give my money to someone who already has an attitude and a lack of understanding that some circumstances are out of anyone's control. On a brighter note, The girl doing my service was amazing. She was apologetic and embarrassed that it took another 5 minutes just trying to get on the same page with the owner who had such a nasty attitude about the whole thing. I decided I didn't want to complete all my services since I was already being rushed and it then became another struggle because their policy states that if you cancel a service is still a 50% charge. The girl was so embarrassed and apologetic but Like I told her you're just following rules. I gladly paid and bowed NEVER to return. Update: i believe the communication and honesty is key to maintaining a successful business. Please review your cameras. We did not have any other interaction besides our first encounter. I did not ask to speak to anyone about the 50% charge. It was the receptionist who informed my technician about the fee and she went to the back and came back to tell me she verified with you. I never asked to negotiate nor bargain nor was I upset. In fact, I left her $15 for my underarms. Like I stated, my issue was the first interaction I had with you. I'm not about to bargain prices in a business.Because I wouldn't want someone to negotiate prices in my establishment. What I don't appreciate is your overall attitude and your lack of customer care/service. Even reading your response. All I can think is why lie? There's no need to. So yesterday I was notified I was close contact with someone who is covid positive at 9pm. I wasn't feeling well and I scheduled myself for a test. Called as soon as the business opened to reschedule my treatment and was told I will be charged a cancellation fee. And I said I understood but there should be a waiver especially in the times we are living in. The front office girl told me well it's totally up to you if you want to come in or not. I said aren't you concerned with the welfare of your other customers and your employees especially since I'm telling you right now I don't feel well and I'm not passing a self check. I went here a while back. It was my first time with this salon but not first time getting a Brazilian wax. Receptionist was very nice. The person who serviced me was nice as well. Personally, I don't like small talk so silence was fine for me. However, she serviced me with cold sugar wax. You could tell because it kept getting stuck and it made the pain that much more worse. I called the day before my appointment for a Brazilian and notified them that I was a new client. They had taken my card information which was fine for a non-refundable no-show fee. The person over the phone made me an account since this was my first time making an appointment for the next day since they were booked that day. It was no problem. So I was made an appointment for 10 am today. I showed up 10 minutes early at 9:50 am. I had asked if they offered public restroom which they didn't and that's totally okay, however, nowhere else in the vicinity offered it as well. At this point it's 15 minutes passed my appointment time and there's nobody that has called for me. So I decide to drive somewhere to use the restroom, I arrive 10 minutes later and then I'm informed that I was charged a no-show fee and that the time slot for my appointment was no longer available. Secondly, they tried to call me but I didn't receive any calls because whoever put in my number, put it in incorrectly so I couldn't be reached. The employee who was at the front was very nice about it and was able to reschedule me for a time at 12:45 pm. Since I was already charged a no-show fee, I'd rather take have that time reschedule than nothing so it was fine. However, when I arrived for my appointment with Becca, who was also very kind and sociable, I was informed that I had too little hair growth and the waxing couldn't be done. At this point, I'm tired, my time was wasted and they've already taken half of the total cost of the what I was going to pay for the waxing. She told me that I was meant to have at least 2-3 weeks of hair growth and that I should have been told over the phone, but I was not. Otherwise I for sure would not have shown up for this appointment and reschedule for a later date. I wasn't able to catch the name of the woman who was working front but she gave me a call a bit later after I left to let me know that they have to charge me the entire fee for the Brazilian I didn't even get since it's company policy. I not only wasted my time here, but basically threw away my money for something I didn't even get. Regardless of the friendly workers there, I will definitely not be coming back due to lack of timeliness for being overbooked, registering my phone number wrong so I couldn't even be contacted, and being charged a fee for a waxing that was not even done. read more

I've had really bad experiences with other salons but finally those days are gone. Sugaring has honestly changed how I see hair removal now my skin is not red or irritated after. My hair growth now after 3 sessions has diminished so much! Major shout out to Berlyn honestly her technique is graceful and quick. You'll be in and out so fast. Value, quality, professionalism...Sugar & Glow has it all! If you are considering waxing for hair removal, I would highly suggest you try Sugaring here instead. I find sugaring to be way less painful than waxing, and if you have sensitive skin you'll be less likely to have a reaction to sugaring since the sugar "wax" is made using only sugar, water, and lemon. I unfortunately have some horror stories to tell about my eyebrows (or worse!) getting singed from wax that was way too hot. Sugar & Glow wax is the perfect temperature every time. The business is owned and operated by an experienced/licensed esthetician who lives locally. The salon is clean, cute, and I feel that they take COVID safety measures seriously, which is a huge plus during these crazy times! I had originally booked an apt for a $25 dollar special they had for a new girl and the last day for the booking was 07/02/2023. I go in and she was rough and painful, not what I expected. At the time of payment I was told it would be full price $55. I asked the receptions why when I received an email of the price I would pay, she said that she had to follow policy. New client and called ahead of time to let them know I would be 2mins late due to there being an accident on the freeway.
