this is the worst nail spa ever , I got my nails done here like about two days ago in gel and I got fungus on alll my nails and both my hands are now swollen just because these Chinese girls don't clean and use new products on clients . they are very unsanitary when it comes to taking off your gel from your nails using the same product used on other clients . Sometimes I give places 5 stars because I'm a nice person and feel like effort equals recognition. Other times, my nail technician effortlessly fixes my smudged nail, wraps my newly pedicured toes in Saran Wrap, applies quick dry, helps me put my sneakers on, keeps the vibes chill by not feeling the need to talk to me much, gives great massages, and literally helped me put my coat on. I'm not gonna say I love Lily. But I might... Cannot believe this place is around the corner from my job! Never thought I'd get mani pedis in the city since I live in nice cheap $20 mani pedi Brooklyn but... the proximity to two of my biggest stressors (work + school) might make Sufu a winner for me. My manicure was done with such care. I could physically tell that Lily was making sure to get every millimeter on each side of my nail. Did I mention her massages are great? And she's a nice person. Can't speak for their cuticle cutting, as I don't get mine cut (it's bad for your nails anyhow guys!! A habit I had to break), but if Lily is the standard for how their other nail techs are (and other services) then I'm going to assume they do it reallllyyyy well. Plus $13.50 for a manicure? Other places nearby clock in at $20 which is, forgive my Brooklyn nail salon habit kicking in, but absurd! $8-$10 manicures are the Brooklyn standard. Not only was the job not well done but it was painful. I came here yesterday for a pedicure and since my experience was decent, I invited a friend to come with me today to get gel manicures. The nail technicians were so aggressive, harshly filing down our nails and roughly pushing back skin (without even soaking beforehand). I frequent a handful of salons across Manhattan so I know the job just isn't supposed to be done like this. Furthermore, they kept painting the gel onto the surrounding skin beds and proceeded to try to remedy the mess by cutting it off -aka cutting off perfectly formed and healthy skin, resulting in a lot of bleeding for the both of us. On top of that, the friend I invited is Chinese and could understand everything they were saying. They were making ill comments on all the customers in the shop plus her, when obviously that was a bold move to make considering she's obviously Chinese too. I'm disappointed to see how my nails will grow out in the next few days because I know they'll peel, considering how much excess paint is around the nail/on my skin. Great nail spa with a great $35 mani-pani special. It's new so it's extremely clean. They have a vast selection of gel, Essie and OPI. They have a various types of pedis including spa and callus remove. They also offer massage and waxing services. I really appreciate that they get me back to work in an hour. I stopped here before brunch at Monks (which is around the corner) for a pedicure with a friend. They were friendly and pretty efficient. They have plastic sheets to keep the bowls clean which was nice. My tech was kind and quiet. No pain to speak of when trimming and filing. I do wish she used a top coat but I was able to add one myself when I got home. Overall, the service was 24$ plus tip (which you have to do in cash!). They were not overly busy so they let me sit in the chair with my friend while she got hers done (she may have been a half-hour late haha). It was oddly quiet though so if I ever return, I might set myself up with headphones. read more

I came here friday 6/10/22 after work for a gel manicure and pedicure. Pedicure was basic just cleaned my toes up and polished not very relaxing but hey...moving on gel manicure looked ok nothing to brag about no hot towel but again maybe that's asking for to much. WORST GEL MANICURE IVE EVER RECEIVED. When the lady started cutting my cuticles, about 4 of my fingers started bleeding!! Once she put on the white gel nail polish, it was still clearly transparent after 3 coats and very unevenly applied. She then asked me "you want more?" I couldn't believe she asked this because it was clearly transparent and needed a fourth coat. When I said yes, she then mumbled something under her breath. When my nails dried, they were not clean at all on the cuticle part as you can see in the pictures. Finally, I thought she did not deserve a good tip at all considering her attitude and her messy job of a manicure. So I gave her $3. She then demanded a 20% tip and would not let me leave until I gave her $6 tip... I am appalled at this ESPECIALLY because she did a horrible job! I was SO excited to go back to this salon. My first experience was amazing. Best pedicure, lasted 4 weeks with out any chips. The girl really took her time and did an amazing job. I wish I could say the same about my second experience. It's been two days and my gel nails are chipped. Every single one of my toes are chipped. Nancy Jiang basically interrogated my friend, asking her questions about how much her university tuition is, what her parents do for work, if her parents financially support her, if she has a job, how much her estimated next paycheck was going to be! Moved her belongings across the room, touching her stuff amidst a pandemic. And finally, watched over her like a hawk as she tipped. This establishment is racist and unprofessional. This place has the best prices in the city but I sadly don't think is it worth it. I got gel powder here and it chipped within 5 days. I went back and they happily fixed it for free. Two days later, three more nails chipped and my nails started breaking. The workers are lovely and the prices are good but I won't be returning. Not sure if it is just quality of the products they use but I have never had my nails get this bad while getting gel powder at other salons. read more

Very overpriced for subpar service. I was told my nails were done drying and within minutes of leaving the salon almost all of them were smudged. A few days later a fungus developed under one of my nails and I've now had to remove all of the acrylics. I wouldn't go back and you should save your money and go someplace else. read more

This is the best spa in the neighborhood. The whole place is newly renovated with new floor-to-ceiling renovations. When you have a pedicure, there are back massages with a wide variety of options. I was able to have a back massage the whole time I had a pedicure. The keratin manicure was soothing my hands into a baby's butt. The selection of gel colors and non-gel colors from OPI and Essie is the same as any other spa. This place is better than Affina, where the decorations are beautiful but the woman cut my toe nail too much when I asked for very little cut. I tip 20% for high-quality customer service. The dryers were part of a white granite and wooden table. There was a light in the dryers which i think helped my nails dried quickly. read more

I can't explain how happy I am that Sufu is back up and running in Tribeca. I'm originally a Jersey girl, and finding solid nail salons and technicians in the city has been a challenge for YEARS - until I met Susan at Sufu. She has mastered the art of doing my (very challenging) nails where they last a month before needing a refresh! I do an acrylic with gel power overlay and it's fool proof for me. We've developed the best relationship and I swear by her services. I've been with her for almost 2 years consistently now (I followed her to their sister salons while the Tribeca location was being rebuilt after the fire) and have no intention of ever going elsewhere. I was actually on my way to a different nail salon, but I passed this place and decided to go in to avoid walking the extra blocks to the other place. They were busy and I asked the lady how long for a regular mani and she said two minutes which wound up being accurate. The lady who did my nails was very sweet and did a pretty good job.... overall the customer service wasn't bad. The reason I have to give this place two stars is because it was beyond messy.... all the trashcans were overflowing, there were gloves on the floor by the sink and napkins on the floor at every work station. Even when I sat at the table to have my nails done there was a used wet rag on my table and the one next to me. The most disgusting part was the dry station. There were literally napkins from a previous girls toes (the napkins they put in between your toes when getting a pedi) on the dry station and used napkins everywhere. I was seriously beyond disgusted and if I was planning to get a pedicure I very likely would have walked out... but since I was just doing a reg mani I decided to suck it up and not be rude since I was already there. I will never go back to this place. The manicure was good but for $13 and the chances of catching something it's not worth going back, especially when there's a nail salon on every corner in NYC. read more

Found this nail salon on Yelp and decided to give it a go. When I first arrived I could already tell the atmosphere was not the best. Was immediately rushed to begin doing my nails I didn't even have time to take off my jacket. The conversation between me and the nail tech made me feel uncomfortable with all the questions she was asking such as my income to were I went to school Not to mention I was told I would have to pay before my nails could be painted. I came without an appointment and was seated right away, they had a good selection of SNS nail colors and the price was good. They could have been a little more attentive on checking when my old powder was coming off, I definitely sat longer than needed, but I understand that they had other customers to attend to so honestly that didn't bother me too much. The atmosphere was clean and they had calming music playing. Some Regulars came in and you could tell that they had good relationships with the workers. I wish I could give this review 3.5, because 3 seems too low. But I'm deducting points because of the actual quality of the manicure. The color did not go all the way to the end of my nail, there was a little gap between the cuticle. Even after I pointed it out, the woman assured me that it'll be fixed with the next layer. It wasn't, and my nails looked several days grown out even right after it was done. And it's been a week since the day and I'm already feeling the edges coming loose, ie my nail is getting stuck between the powder and my nail whenever I wash my hair. Usually this doesn't start to happen until the end of week 2 or 3. I get that it could have been just that particular nail tech and I might have better luck with someone else. I'd come back if I was in a pinch because it is in a great location, but I'll probably check out a few other places first. read more

Honestly, the worst nail salon experience I have ever had to the point that I'm writing this review when I should be drying my nails with streaks and bubbles. I decided to treat myself to a much needed pick me up between work and school and I left feeling much worse than I did when I stepped in. The technician I received was cold, careless, and rushed the entire job compared to the other technicians - barely scrubbed my feet, apathetically massaged my legs and hands for 5 seconds, and stared off into the distance at what everyone else was doing the entire time that she serviced me. To add insult to injury, she asked me to pay in between my manicure and pedicure which I didn't see any of the other technicians do. She then rushed the manicure and slapped clear nail polish on my fingers to finish. No usual back massage at the fans or checking in before I left. Just an overall awful experience and wasn't anywhere near the self-care that I needed/wanted/should have had at a nail salon. I wish that I had gone elsewhere with more personable and service-oriented technicians. read more

My technician took almost 2 hrs for my SNS manicure and I had bare nails when I walked in. Beyond that, my $45 SNS manicure only lasted FOUR DAYS before they started literally falling off.
