First, the positive. As so many reviewers have mentioned, Sufi sits in an absolutely gorgeous location. We took the golf cart from the St. Regis, and were thrilled when we pulled up to this little hidden oasis. Unfortunately, that's where the enchantment ended for us. We were seated at a waterfront table (yay!) that looked out on a construction site. A big green tarp stretched the width of the beach in front of us. The sand flies were everywhere - crawling over the white tablecloth, into our drinks and on our feet. Then we noticed the little green geckos crawling up the post behind me. If the wildlife didn't get our blood pumping, the heat and humidity surely did. And, no standing fans to cool us down. It took 20 minutes just to get menus, so we ordered a bottle of wine right away since we knew this was going to be a loooong night. The wine was brought to our table with only 1/4 of the label left on the bottle. As for the food, presentation gets an A+, but C- for taste and lack of flavor. Service was slow and not friendly. Not sure if it was an off night (since so many others have raved about Sufi), but we will not go back. There are so many other great options here! read more

This restaurant came highly recommended before arriving at vacation at the St. Regis. We were seated with a front row seat to the view of the ocean. Service was excellent and prompt. We ordered the Tampiqueña Carne Asada and the special which was a pork shoulder accompanied with a beet salad. Both were large portions and very delicious. Cesar, the manager, greeted us at the end of our meal and checked to make sure we enjoyed our dining experience. The staff were very service oriented and accommodating. Sufi is closed on Sunday otherwise we would have come back again before our return back home. If you have any desire to enjoy an after dinner espresso, I can tell you that you won't be disappointed. read more

Beautiful setting overlooking the ocean in Punta de Mita. Very attentive staff. Polite,courteous and proficient in English. Most all of the patrons were American vacationers. Food is superb. I would say the portions especially in the Prix fixe dinner were very small. For example, my husband ordered the Prix fixe dinner and his Caesar salad was 3 tiny leaves of lettuce. The bread portions were small, but more was generously brought out on request. Overall, the place is a bit expensive for what you get. Doubtless, one pays for the view I guess. We dined here on our last night in Punta de Mita. One of the couples we met on our travels recommended this place to us. It was a short ride from where we were staying. Jamie was our waiter and he provided us with outstanding service! Our drinks were delicious and their menu selections are unique. We love trying new things so it was perfect for us. All the food was delicious with great presentation. We arrived when it was already dark but I imagine the views and sunsets are spectacular as it overlooks the ocean. We had a lovely meal here. The setting is gorgeous, overlooking the beach, the ocean and a golf course. The wait staff could not have been nicer nor more attentive to our needs including the two children, aged 7 and 9. The appetizers were great. I have never had more perfectly cooked calamari. Dinners were big enough to have leftovers for tonight. Had the creme brûlée for dessert. Best I have had in Mexico It's not inexpensive, as we spent about $60 each USD with drinks, tax and tip for the adults. Don't even think about showing up without a reservation. Hands down the best restaurant in Punta Mita if not all of Mexico. The spouse and I went last night and the service was impeccable. We had the lobster which was the special and the anajillo sauce was to die for. We started with the ceviche and watermelon salad which did not disappoint. Also the shrimp risotto is excellent. We are staying at the St. Regis so it's was a 5 min ride in a cart to this private club restaurant. Our server was Juan Carlos and he was amazing. On our last night in Punta Mita, we wanted to go somewhere different. Special. We read the reviews about Sufi and hoped this would be the right choice. We were right. After having a couple of other fabulous meals right on the beach the couple of nights before (in town) and staying in an amazing resort, we hopped in the hotel bus and on our way to Sufi. Of the beaten path, it's actually located in a private residential community with its own beach. There are no vendors walking the beach, just a quiet shoreline with a beautiful and intimate view. We were greeted and escorted to the bar for a quick cocktail while we waited for our sea side table. Before too long, we were seated and enjoyed a meal executed to perfection by our server, Chuy. Perfectly cooked shrimp with fresh garlic and olive oil was simple but exploding with flavor. My husband had paella and loved every bite. I was feeling like I had more than my fill of seafood this trip and was planning to order steak. But, when Chuy described the fresh tuna steak, I had to have it. The BEST steak I've ever had! The only thing I would want to change about this great experience was the surprising number of kids when we got there. Luckily, our reservation was late enough that the families cleared out shortly after we got there. Not that families are a bad thing. I'm part of a family, I just happened to take this trip without my kids. So if you want something a bit more romantic, consider making your reservation closer to 9. Thanks, Sufi. Sufi is one of our favorite restaurants in Punta Mita. The food is always excellent and the service is warm and friendly. We recently visited Punta Mita for a week and dined at Sufi twice. For our second night at Sufi we had the pleasure of being waited on by Jaime Rodriguez. When he served me my hamburger, he asked that I cut in half to check if it was prepared correctly. I had ordered the burger medium, but when I cut the burger in half, it appeared to be closer to well done. Without hesitation he apologized and took the burger back to the kitchen. Minutes later he returned with a perfectly cooked burger. It was delicious. Jaime was very apologetic for the burger not being prepared the first time and comped is one of our glasses of wine. That's excellent service! I highly recommend Sufi if you are staying in Punta Mita. read more

This is my favorite dining experience in the world. I recommend Sufi to every person who asks. We stay at the St. Regis for a week each year and enjoy dinner at Sufi multiple times each visit. I am not a seafood person so I tend to order the burger as it is truly fantastic however I end up stealing bites of my husband's catch of the day every time. The skillet cooked shrimp are delectable, too. Elevated, elegant and yet very reasonably priced. We are always pleasantly surprised at the bill. read more

We dined at Sufi during our stay last week. I have to say, it was my favorite restaurant of the area. Our waiter, Jaime was wonderful. Excellent service and the food was delicious. They respected my dietary restrictions and prepared my steak as I had asked. My son had the special, 4 giant pacific lobster tails grilled with butter. He ate the whole thing without any prompting from me to finish it! The manager, Cesar Martinez was a gracious host and made us feel very welcome. They accommodated us despite the fact that we were an hour earlier than our reservation, when you have kids, you eat when they are hungry so it was very much appreciated. Also, my son loves churros, and while not on the menu, Jaime had the chef make him a plate for dessert with a wonderful chocolate dipping sauce. This level of care for customers is excellent and I really appreciated the way Jaime took care of us. Sufi is a do not miss dining location when in the Punta Mita area. The menu is a nice mix of modern Mediterranean dishes with a Mexico flair. You won't be disappointed. read more

I definitely agree with the 5 out of 5 stars rating Sufi has, and I will be the one to add another 5 star for their excellence at food and service. First of all Sufi goal is to provide a experience for all their customers. By transporting you in a golf cart through Punta Mita they give you an essence of superiority every client deserves. The ocean view and the appreciation for detail on the restaurant architecture is as well another reason for their popularity. The dinner here was amazing from start to finish. The setting is beautiful, with a bay view next to the golf course. Wait staff is perfect. If you want a very special experience go to Sufi. Came here in November 2016 for my birthday and WOW. They were under construction so there was a bit of noise and the ambiance wasn't as great as it typically would have been but the food was fantastic! I was so impressed!!! We stayed at the St. Regis and they dropped us off at the restaurant and picked us up when we were finished, in their golf carts. This was amazing as they were not affiliated with the restaurant. We had a lovely time and I will DEFINITELY be back!!! read more

The most important piece of advice about Sufi is wear insect repellant before you go! My family got attacked which made for an uncomfortable experience. They have free repellant in the entrance of the restaurant it's that bad. Beautiful views here! From what I understand the owners of this restaurant used to be chefs at Cafe des Artistes, so they have good schooling. The bread is delicious. The paella is just decent. The best dish here is the red snapper. The sauce is amazing! Even if you have been having fish all week I would definitely have the snapper. The waiters are friendly but make tons of mistakes. My waiter forgot to bring out 3 dishes!!! I can understand one but 3?? That is money lost for the restaurant. There are only a couple of good restaurants in Punta Mita and this is one of them. I would give them third place. Don't be fooled by the pics of the pools. You can't go in them. There is a dock but you can only look at it. read more

This is a mixed review. We went to the beach club and the service was terrible. Plenty of servers. Almost all standing around or preparing for dinner that night. Took forever to get a waiter. When we did finally flag one down the burger was very good. We had a dinner set up 2 nights later and almost canceled it because of our experience. So glad we didn't. The tasting menu included our favorite dish of the whole trip. Red Snapper Al Pastor. Trust me - just order it. It was that good. Their other popular dish is the duck confit but the snapper is way better. They do a very good job with ceviches as well. Service was much better at night. Highly recommend this place for dinner. Management needs to start paying attention at lunch however. read more

Juan Carlos was our waiter, super friendly and accommodating. We were a little late for our reservations, but still seated right away. Everyone speaks English here. We like to speak Spanish. The food was amazing. I ordered the jalapeño margarita, so good! I love that the trim was tajin, my fave. I ordered the fish of the night, we ordered so much food and it was all made to perfection. Such a romantic place to dine. It's right by the ocean and the vibe is really chill. This is on the resort property, so you have to enter the gates and they have little carts that take you to your destination. This place is on the fancier side l, but I doubt anyone will care if you bring your kids and wear jeans and t shirt. This was our choice of "fancy" for our trip since we like to dive into ma and pa spots while traveling. I would recommend it to anyone. read more

We stayed at the St. Regis for our honeymoon and our butler suggested Sufi for dinner. From the moment we walked up To the restaurant from the minute we walked out, we were so happy! The restaurant has amazing views, a great ambiance different from the hotel, and great service! The shrimp pasta was amazing with fresh pasta and the carne asada presentation was more than impressive. We ended the night with warm chocolate cake and Mexican coffee (highlight of the dinner). From the St Regis it was a 5 min ride to this exclusive seaside restaurant residing at one end of private residential community Porta Fortuna. From our golf cart driver to the security personnel at the gate to the staff at the restaurant, they knew exactly who we are. Hence our exquisite culinary experience at Sufi began with coconut and cucumber margaritas. Oh did we mention the view was simply amazing with the Banderas Bay that greeted us as we were shown our table. The sun was just setting to our right (hidden from the open dining room's view) leaving behind blushing wisps of clouds. Drinks aside, our shared starter of the Banderas Bay skewers of perfectly grilled and seasoned portobello mushroom, shrimp, beef, chicken, and fried Brie cheese was a good call. The accompanying dipping avocado sauce, aioli and roasted tomato sauce only added to our delight. The chef's homemade bread was served hot and so delicioso. Our next course of a Caesar salad and a water melon salad were refreshing and scrumptious enough to heighten our anticipation of our red snapper al pastor and seafood paella entrees. The red snapper was cooked to perfection in flavor, texture and presentation. It was a perfect 10! There was an a abundance of baby calamari, shrimps, chunks of white fish and thinly sliced chorizo mixed in with Spanish rice soaked with broth in their famous seafood paella. By this time, we had lost count of the times our server checked on us. Desert choices were plentiful and the black forest cake didn't disappoint us. In conclusion to our fantastromic meal and overall dining experience, it was shockingly inexpensive for all that we have so thoroughly enjoyed. read more
