I first heard about this restaurant chain from my fiancée's brother. He went to the location in Washington D.C. I came here on a Sunday and I could tell they were short staff on the front of the house side. It was one server and a busgirl. The server was great and a hard worker. I ordered the brisket sandwich with fried smashed potatoes. The brisket sandwich was great and loved all the ingredients that comprised of the sandwich. The brisket was prepared well and packed with flavor. The potatoes were ok, it crispy, lacked flavor, and I requested ketchup but never received it. Overall, the experience was underwhelming and was t great from when I sat down until I left the restaurant. The restaurant has a nice and low key ambiance, nothing pretentious. The food we had was good although both my wife and daughter (15) both felt the food in general was too spicy. I thought the spice level was still on the mild side though. We ate fried green tomatoes topped with shrimp, seafood gumbo, and deep fried catfish. The texture of the catfish didn't remind me of the catfish I have fried myself but the flavors were all spot on. My son (6) ate a burger with fries and he loved it. Lastly, the service was very warm and friendly, but overall a little flaky. I don't enjoy leaving bad reviews, but after spending over $30 for a lackluster lunch, I felt like this could be used as constructive criticism. First, the price of my lunch was not listed. I ordered grouper with a side of broccoli and slaw, with only water and it was $33 with a 15% tip. Everything was so salty and drenched in butter, but my main complaint was how overcooked the fish was, completely inedible. If I weren't with work colleagues, I would have asked for reimbursement or at least a lunch that I would be able to eat. There was only one wait staff and she was fine, but clearly could have used help refilling drinks, to go orders, etc. read more

Good food will get you a good rating but consistency will get you a great rating and I just haven't been here enough yet. But if it means anything- I plan to rectify that quickly. MMMM MMM. I'll say it again! MMMMmmMMM! I took my family here and received high praise. I am a vegetarian and there were good options. We got a few of the vegetarian appetizers. My favorite was the roasted asparagus. For my main, I got the fried tomato but my family members got their meat dishes. I stole morsels of their vegetarian sides. Everything we ate was a delight- it was all seasoned very tastefully. SO MUCH FLAVOR! Never thought Lima beans could be so delicious - referring to the succotash. Generous portions. Succotash has an interesting southern-food inspired menu. There are at least two specials: a pork dish and a chicken dish. Both sounded equally good. There's also the daily menu with fish, shrimp, a vegan eggplant dish, and brisket. I tried the pork shoulder sandwich on the special menu. In hindsight, I probably should have gone with the chicken only because that had some of the food for which the truck is named. The pork shoulder did not. I supposed I could have ordered the side of succotash, but between that and the special, it was more than I wanted to pay for a food truck meal. The sandwich was okay overall, but I found the bites of the pork alone, ordinary; and if not for the generous portion of rosemary aioli, it would have been too dry for the flavors to make it through. Even with that, the roll (from Guglhupf bakery) and the greens, pickles and tomatoes made for a filling sandwich. It's a two or more napkins kind of sandwich though. Don't try eating this on the go because it will end up everywhere in addition to your mouth. Next time, I'll try the other special, or maybe just the succotash side, because, well, it's succotash. read more

We really enjoyed this food truck when it came to an apartment complex near us during quarantine. Everyone inside was wearing masks and they had hand sanitizer available. I was most impressed by how friendly the people were - they gave us suggestions and did a great job of convincing us to get not one, but two sides of the fried smashed potatoes. It was worth it! I'm not a huge potato fan and these were delicious. I got the shrimp po-boy (divine, even the half that was reheated the next day and so slightly soggy) and my fiancé got the veggie sandwich. We decided to try the banana pudding empanada for dessert. Make sure to leave room for this!! Everything about it was delicious. We tried this food truck when we visited Fortnight Brewery. It was pretty good; although our order took 40 minutes. I tried the vegetarian plate with broccoli and potatoes. The broccoli was yummy, but it was also so big and I was wishing I had a knife to cut it into smaller pieces. The potatoes were the star of the show. I visited on a Sunday afternoon. As other reviewers have noted the the restaurant has a New Orleans vibe and parking was very convenient. I had the fried catfish with smashed potatoes and lemon cider coleslaw, all of which was fantastic. Even though it is not on the menu, the chef was also willing to give me an appetizer-sized portion of fried green tomatoes -- also excellent with their remoulade sauce. Ambiance-lots of muted, rich colors throughout the space, with a distressed painted accent wall, colorful artwork on walls, and for sale. Really liked the space and how the many colors play well w each other and tone down the loftiness of ceiling height in the main room. Bar looked inviting. We sat at a table, tables are painted in complementary colors-neat designs. Our table was too close to the table immediately behind us, so the back of my chair was pushing against the back of the diner behind me, they came in after us and there was no room for us to shift. Nice folks, nice space, really good food: We had one plate of fried oysters, and one of fried catfish, both perfectly cooked and grin-inducing. The smashed fried potatoes on the side were less smashed than I'd expected, but smashingly seasoned. The cider-lemon slaw was a big hit, and the smoked tomato remoulade was perfection in a little plastic cup. We finally (after driving by several times) stopped by this charming jewel box of a restaurant, last night. The interior is an elegant bistro, with ambient lighting. We chose to sit on the pretty back deck (with globe lights strung around), in the spring air. Our server, Jeremy, was very warm and attentive. We started with the fried green tomatoes, which were thick cut and cooked to perfection, and the accompanying succotash was so delicious we cleaned the plate. Then my husband ordered the brisket platter and I had the fried chicken sandwich. Again, both were delicious. HOLY COW. We finally made it here last night and are sorry we missed so many prior chances to go. The food was just amazing. Amazing. My husband had the turkey & sausage gumbo and we both wanted to just swim in it. Rich & flavorful with just the right amount of spice. Cajun done right. We tried Succotash for the first time this past weekend after wanting to try it for over a year. I wasn't disappointed! I lived in New Orleans when I was a teenager and love creole food. Succotash has very good seafood gumbo and red beans and rice (which is what we got). The gumbo could have had more shrimp or large pieces of seafood cause although it tasted really good was more soupy with rice. The red beans had a great smoked flavor from the sausage. My MOL liked her fried shrimp. My son and I got this special recipe lemonade they make with fresh lemonade and rosemary. The first few sips were delicious but then was a bit overpowering with the rosemary and I had to keep adding water to dilute the flavor. The service was very good and gave us plenty of attention. We could have sat inside or outside. Inside had around 10-15 tables with small hard chairs that were uncomfortable for those of us with back issues. The outside chairs looked better. They have a live music room on some nights we plan to come back for. read more
