I've been here a few times over the last several years because it's close by and walkable. The food is good - never had a problem with quality or availability of menu items. It's also very clean. The problem is the owner (who we have observed micromanaging his team every time we visit, by the way) and his policies. Just today we walked over and at 5:25 pm we were turned away because they were closed. Both yelp and Google show they are open until 7 pm on Sundays, but we were turned away anyway. The staff were there and everything. I've tried to use coupons here before too but the owner never takes them. He only recently started accepting subway rewards but I've never tried to redeem an award from him, only get points. TL;DR When you visit, don't get your hopes up. Horrible product output and an "I don't care" customer service attitude by the manager: I ordered a turkey and ham sandwich. The sandwich maker threw the meat on the sandwich, looked up at me and said "do you want cheese, it will cost you more"! I said no thanks and told her what produce I wanted. She stacked the produce on the other side of the bread. I asked for mayo and mustard. She then squirted out two thick streams of the condiment in the middle of the sandwich. Then, without spreading the mayo and mustard out, she smashed the lettuce and the rest of the sandwich together, and quickly wrapped it. I then asked the manager at the cash register why there was no attempt to spread out the mayo and mustard so the customer doesn't get a glob mouthful in the middle of the sandwich. He said that is the way they do it as the sandwich maker doesn't have time to spread it on the bread or throughout the sandwich. I told him to look around. There was only me and one customer behind me in the store!! He then told me if I wanted it spread, I should have told the sandwich maker. I didn't have a chance to say anything to the sandwich maker as she had already mixed the glob with the lettuce and closed the sandwich. This subway location is above average... but keep in mind it is still subway so the food is standard. What makes this location great is that it is always SUPER clean. The tables never have crumbs, the floor isn't sticky, and the drink station is well-kept. The staff at this location are also super pleasant. They always seems happy and are very efficient in taking orders. Often times even if there are only a few people, someone will magically come out from the back to help move the line. Parking is usually easy to find, but I also usually go on the weekend or in the evening. Not sure how bad it is during the lunch hour. My only small complaint is that they do not have the honey-oat bread at this location. Honey oat is my favorite and I can still get it at other locations. Not sure what is up with that. This location also does not have a bathroom, but it is next to other restaurants that do. read more

The owner of this establishment charges his own prices and upcharges for double meat. If you ask him why, he says it's normal everywhere but points to a "Local Favorites" sign that has his own prices on it. Checking with other subways, you'll find he overcharged you by charging for the most expensive meat sub + most expensive meat add on. Explanation: if you got a turkey footlong (8.49) and added on rotisserie chicken (2.50) you end up paying for a rotisserie footlong (10.25) and an add on of rotisserie chicken (3.00) much more per sub. I paid $35 for two subs and a large drink. The workers are very nice, but the owner has inflated his prices with a small sign with his own prices. read more

This subway should not be sending out coupons if you the owner/staff do not know how to properly honor their coupons. Very Clearly the coupon said Any Subway Sandwich @ 7.99, and in the fine print there were no exclusions. I asked which subway sandwiches the coupons would be valid on and more than 80 percent of the menu was excluded. This is false advertising and unfair to your customers. I come to this specific subway on a daily basis to say Hi to the staff who are very respectful, and to order a meal. I feel like if this is the way this establishment is run, I wont be spending a penny here anymore. I went to this subway to get a sandwich that was suppose to have avocado on it. There was no avacado. So I told the lady politely it wasn't a big deal and to give it to me on the side and I'll just put it on. She didn't believe me so after she inspected my sandwich she said she was going to check the cameras to see if I was lying. Lol WTH? Their sandwiches are good! All ingredients are fresh and you can tell by the cleanliness of the faculty that they take care of their food and properly store everything! All the cashiers are always very friendly and attentive. They always keep busy and have good work habits. Everyone speaks and understands English which is very helpful cuz I like my Sammy very specifically made just for me! They accept all major credit cards & cash. It seems this location doesn't enter coupons in their point-of-sale system and never honor coupons. Can't even use the subway app to get discounts. It's a nice little scam the owner's running. Awful place, I haven't had subway in almost 5 years and today I decided to do curbside pick up on my lunch. The owner I'm assuming, told me my order never came in even though I was showing him the confirmation on my phone. As I waited there he kept ignoring me helping everyone else besides me, and finally got to me once everyone was gone. My order was supposed to be ready at a specific time, showed proof of my order that I had already paid for and he basically told me he couldn't help me. I swear the creepy German guy that lives next door to my condo gets a hooker every Tuesday night. Why do I think this? You can even have the audacity to ask for more, and you'll incur the dreaded stink eye from the owner, and this imploring look from the young female sandwich makers like, 'please don't ask me again, he'll beat me later'. I mean, really, it's reminiscent of a freakin Thailand brothel with underage girls ... it's that smarmy. Yeah, but can I get one more pickle slice than the three that are currently languishing on the two miserly scoops of tuna for my foot long (I'm being only half facetious here)? I mean, c'mon, how expensive exactly is a single pickle slice? What will that do to your margins on this sandwich???? I know these are franchises, but one owner's behavior reflects very badly upon the brand, nationwide. One of my associates was so mad at the piece of bread he effectively was carrying out of there that he shoplifted a bunch of bags of chips ... 'an eye for an eye', he said, shaking his head in contempt. Now, I don't condone shoplifting, but I do recommend you just stay away from this establishment. Reviewing a Subway is definitely not my standard practice. However, this location, which is owned independently and poorly managed by Brian Kim, deserves a critique. As others have pointed out, this Subway is very focused on efficient and quick delivery. Make a sandwich for the large herds of engineers in the area and collect their money as quickly as possible. Nothing wrong with that idea, unless something wrong happens to your meal. In my cases, the food is normally okay (for a Subway) but my payout goes awful at times. Normally, the owner or owner's family member will work the register while his staff of minimum wage sandwiches "artists" make your sandwich. Sometimes though, the register is operated by the sandwich makers. They normally handle the register just as anyone would, but if something trips them up things go bad fast. I often get Subway Gift cards from my family. Using them at this location is a nightmare. I know gift cards are not the most popular form of payment but they have to be common enough that your staff can accept them properly. If I try to redeem points on my Subway Club card, then I might as well forget about this location. If you want to use two gift cards with different balances to pay off a combined meal as a treat for your co-workers, then forget about it at this location. On my worst encounter, I attempted to pay for my $7.38 meal with a gift card. The non-owner sandwich artist swiped my gift card and told me I only had a $6.50 balance on the card. No biggie. I'll just pay the rest with cash and she nodded ok to this idea. However, upon actual payout this proved to be an ordeal. The worker swiped the card multiple times, hit several buttons, pulled out a calculator, and struggled to the point that the owner noticed from the back storage area. As the line to pay out backed up, the owner came over, closed the transactions, and re-rang the order up. Except this time, when he ran my gift card, he told me that I had 88 cents on it! I told him that there must be a mistake and that the worker must have deducted the amount from the card, and then somehow put the money I still owed on the card. How else would the math work out to 88 cents. The woman did not deny doing this, and agreed that when she swiped the card initially the balance was $6.50. I told the owner that she must have wiped the balance, but he did not agree. After pleading with him that a mistake must have been made, but having no way to prove that his employee was either lying or incompetent I gave in. Never once did the owner review the previous transaction that he voided to check for an error, nor did he care that his customer felt wronged and upset. I asked for his card and of course when I called later that day to restate my case, he claimed to have no memory of the situation. Since he owns the place and I only represent one customer out of a thousand he gets in a day, it is his prerogative to not really care. That is fine, but d-bags like Brian Kim should be outed for bad business behavior. Next time I need a sandwich for lunch, I'll visit another Subway or pay the extra two bucks for Quizno's. 1 out of 5, and I am just sad that I gave such time and thought to this establishment. But I wanted to chime in, I have been here a couple of times, the sandwiches are good, the service was fine, nothing amazing but nothing awful. I have felt as though there have been some language barriers on some occasions, but I repeat my order and we confirm, and all has been well. There's several valid reasons here as much as I will try and keep this short: 1) the two girls that work there have 0 personality and aren't friendly as they have their side conversations while serving you 2) they are extremely cheap when it comes to even portioning your sandwich properly. For example a foot long tuna should get 4 solid scoops of tuna- they graze the tuna out and leave you with barely any meat on your sandwich 3) even when trying to politely address the issues (even with the condiments) they look at you like you don't know what your talking about. ....I have given this place around 7 chances, thinking it's an off day and people are just people. This place gives very little veggie topping, even when its during off-peak times. You can always ask them to put more, but it really just goes to shows what this location thinks of you. They'd rather pull a fast one on you then treat you as you should be treated/are treated at all other Subway locations. I'm not a huge fan. I went at 1230 so it was PACKED. The line was out the door and it was super crowded inside. Yes, the employees were quick but the customer service sucked. I was no where near the front of the line to see the menu and I was being screamed at asking me what I wanted. I don't go to Subway a lot so I needed a minute to read the menu. Not allowed here! On top of that when I finally made a super fast decision, 3 different employees asked me what I wanted on my sandwich. They couldnt hear me say "thats my sandwich.." so they just skipped over me! I love subway and frequently pick up a quick sandwich for lunch. I love their breakfast sandwiches. Usually, at all the other subways, they give you loads of veggies on any of your sandwiches. At this subway, the ladies almost had a fight with me over putting on meat and veggies. They are so stingy on their veggies and my sandwich ended up really flat. Very disappointed. I'm going to the one on McCarthy next time! They don't look at you like you are crazy when you ask for more than 2 pieces of lettuce on your sandwich. This place is so close to my work place, which is why it deserved a one star rating. But due to all the people and their attitude who work over there, I'd probably take away that one star too! First of all, they skimp on serving extra veggies, however their initial serving portion itself is so small, you'd think they were serving infants. Secondly whenever you ask them to extra toast or extra anything, they look at you as if you were stupid. I come here almost every day for lunch. It gets pretty crazy right around 12:10pm, so I try to come early or late. The place is always in great shape, very clean, and there is always a table for me. They are very fast, even if the line is out the door it will move fast. I see some people complain about the meager toppings. This has never been an issue for me. I will ask for it and they will give me extra. After a while they remember and now I always get extra. This is the worst subway I've ever been to. My boyfriend and co workers actually warned me about the horrible customer service here but I thought, how bad could 5 minutes be getting a quick sandwich? Never again at this location, ill make the extra drive to Quiznos at the river mark where I can be treated with respect. Located under the Elan at River Oaks Apartments off of Montague Expy, this Subway is a convenient stop on the way home from work or to the bank or both. The great thing about this location is that they don't charge tax. The not so great thing is that it doesn't offer the $4.00 foot long menu and the sandwiches seem dinkier than the ones at other locations. read more

So everyone knows what subway is. Sure you might get skimped on one olive. This review is more for the lunch rush and how well they perform when the hordes appear. This location has the proper number of employees to push out sandwiches fast. Each employee is trained to do two tasks only. 1. Bread and cheese 2. Toasted and lettuce 3. Veggies and veggies. 4. Sauces and packaging. 5. Cashier and cups. All the while they talk to each other so you usually don't have to repeat yourself. Convenient subway in River mark. No issues with ingredients, everything tastes fresh. I liked that they are very clean conscious. I appreciated that the lady making my sub switched to new gloves before making my veggie sub as I am allergic to meat and can't tolerate any cross-contamination.
