I have been wanting to try Dave's Hot Chicken for a long time and it lived up to the hype…read more I ordered a slider and fries and everything came out hot crisp and perfectly cooked. The chicken is seasoned all the way through not just on the outside. You can tell this is not an afterthought spice situation. If you want flavor without heat you can get it. If you want heat with flavor pick spicy. We did. It is the sweet spot for anyone who knows their way around spice. The tenders taste like they were marinated because the flavor is built in. I am a pickle in every bite kind of person and these pickles understand the assignment. They cut the richness and bring balance to every bite. The bread deserves its own moment. It reminds me of a Hawaiian roll but less sweet and more savory which works beautifully here. Do not skip the honey drizzle. It sounds optional but it is not. The honey with the salty spicy chicken is the move. The space itself is a whole vibe. Bold graffiti art with San Antonio touches gives it local personality. The place was buzzing with energy and groups of teens which tells you it is doing something right. We will definitely be back.

The staff were friendly and helpful when I asked about their menu. Definitely will comeback and try more flavors!

2024-02-19. Whataburger. San Antonio, TX…read more Whataburger is one of many burger chains in Texas. Competing with chains like In-and-Out, Chick-fil-A, A&W, Shake Shack, Culver's, and Steak 'n Shake. Being my first time trying it, I opted for both a beef and chicken burger. The hamburger was a double cheeseburger and the chicken was the breaded spicy one. Both were "all the way" which includes lettuce tomato and onions and condiments. The beef is very similar to that of In-and-Out, it's juicy and greasy. But the patty is bigger, similar to the size of a whopper. The double burger is at least 1/4 pound of meat. The spicy chicken is breaded and not too spicy. There is a kick, but not as potent as Burger Kings angry chicken. This didn't do much for me and IMO can't hold a candle to Chick-Fil-A's or Jollibee's. The fries are nothing special either. The cut is in between McD's and BK. They're not bad, but they're not great either. Overall, Whataburger's burgers are clearly the choice if you're to dine here. I didn't try their grilled burger and in hindsight should have tried that over the breaded spicy chicken. If I'm being honest here, I'd have to say I prefer Whataburger's double cheeseburger over Steak 'n Shake and In-and-Out when looking for that greasy munchies meal after a pub crawl. If You would like to experience more, come dine-with-me.yelp.com I'd love to have your company... Bon Appétit!

I'm officially obsessed. The food was to die for. The fried chicken is crispy, juicy, perfectly seasoned, and honestly some of the best I've ever had. Every side we ordered hit the spot, and the portions were generous. The service was wonderful too--super friendly, quick, and made the whole experience even better. Prices were totally appropriate for the quality and amount of food. I left full, happy, and already thinking about what I'm going to order next time. I will definitely be coming back and telling all my friends and family about this place. Gus's absolutely lives up to the hype!

Food: 4.1/5 Service: 3.5/5…read moreAmbiance: 3/5 Value: 4.2/5 The chicken comes out very hot temperature-wise. You have to wait a couple minutes to eat it, else you burn your mouth. The chicken is also quite hot spice-wise. They don't give you the option to select spicy or mild, so I just assumed it would come out mild. I was wrong. It was spicy. The server said he'd put it at a 7/10 in terms of spiciness. That's fair. On service, it took a while for the food to come out, more than 20 mins, but I guess that's because the chicken is made fresh? I arrived right at 5pm. Potato salad and Mac and cheese don't take much time to scoop, so the wait was a little long in my view. Many other tables didn't have food either. Servers seemed nice and friendly. On ambiance, the location is south of downtown, and riding a scooter to get there is not advisable, as mine ran out of power mid-ride. Would not re-start. It's a pretty basic setup indoors but at least the air conditioning was working well. On value, it was a good meal for $21.38 including tax and tip.
