I am excited to report that The Station Cafe is just as amazing as it was 6 months ago! My sister and I visit every time I'm in town and this time we headed straight there as soon as I landed. My mouth was literally watering during the entire drive just thinking about what I was going to order! When we arrived there was a line to the door and it was great to see business going strong. I decided to order something new and I'm so glad I did! There was ample seating available and the food came out quickly, even though the restaurant was buzzing and full of patrons dining in (always a great sign). You know it's going to be a great place when it's before noon, and the restaurant is already filled with locals! I got the white bbq sandwich, and it knocked me off my feet. Well I called and asked if they had pastrami sandwiches. So I drive from the other side of town just to get there and they didn't have real pastrami they had something called turkey pastrami? I had the pleasure of eating here today with one of my elementary school retiree groups. A member of the group suggested it when we made our list of venues for 2024. She told us they had the best sandwiches and guaranteed we would love it. Riding down with one of my friends, I worried about parking. She can't walk far, and I didn't want a long hike after dropping her off out front. I shouldn't have worried. The minute we turned on the street (King William), I saw a space on the street right across from the entrance that I could drive right into and fake parallel parking by simply backing up closer to the next vehicle. When I opened the door for my friend, I saw what looked like a huge room with a large table in the middle for our group. The menu was up on very nicely backlit signs that made reading it super easy. We sat down with the folks who got there before us and waited a few minutes for the rest of our group. Then, some of us went up to order just as a little rush started. I noticed that you could order and pay at the table by scanning the QR code on the little placards. It didn't matter how we ordered, the food came out to us super fast! I think I figured out how they can do it so quickly. They have a fantastic selection of sandwiches. Most of them have either turkey or roast beef. They start with their absolutely wonderful store-baked bread, put a mountain of either turkey or roast beef on it, add some cheese and a few veggies, then slather it with a sauce. It is the different sauces that create the different sandwiches. For example, I had the Thai Fighter. It had a deliciously spicy red curry sauce on it. Let me tell you that they have perfected that sauce. I really liked everything about the sandwich, and can't wait to go back and try some others. I also had the soup of the day, which is creamy poblano on Tuesdays. It was really satisfying. I loved that it was not salted heavily, allowing the full flavor of the peppers to come through. For dessert, I chose a slice of their pumpkin cheesecake. It wasn't on the menu, and my friend that goes there weekly says they frequently have a special cheesecake like that. This was pumpkin flavored on the top and traditional on the bottom. As usual, I only had one delicious bite. It was really hard for me to pass it on for others to try. I really wanted to eat more. After it went around the table, someone set it right back in front of me. I shoved it way across the table and watched as one of my friends took another bite every few minutes. It was so good she couldn't help herself until it was all gone. I need to mention the hibiscus mint tea. I couldn't taste any hibiscuses in it (what are they? flowers?), but the subtle bloom of mint with each sip was dazzling enough for me. I went back for a second glass, which is very unusual for me. We have been eating the best sandwiches at this establishment since it opened! The food is made fresh, everything here is made from scratch (except the bags of chips!) On Fridays come get some of the best Chowder you will ever have, it's all home made. The bread is absolutely amazing, my go to is the "Club" with extra Mayo, best club I've ever had. My wife is from Alabama and she is amazed at the authentic "White Bar B Que sauce" they put on the Buffalo Beef sandwich, it is also home made. Their pizza is on point and the desserts are the perfect way to finish a perfect meal. The prices are fair, the food is amazing, the atmosphere is relaxing and the staff is welcoming. 17 Apr 2024 I arrived early for my King William volunteer gig, so I thought I'd grab some lunch. I had about an hour before my shift. Arriving at noon I thought I would have to wait. Not so. I was second in line. By 12:30pm however, the line was almost out the door. Anyway, I ordered the chef salad and a small drink. Interesting presentation. The salad is in a plastic container with lid, think the containers HEB packages their single slices of cake in. It, a plastic knife and fork, some napkins and the cup of dressing was placed in a red paper-lined plastic basket. So I dumped the salad onto the paper in the basket, added the dressing and proceeded to eat. I guess that's what you're supposed to do. It was good. I'll probably go back if I'm in the area. Prices are very reasonable. Along with salads, soups, sandwiches and baked good are also available. read more

I had the Turkey Chupacabra on the recommendation of another review. It was very flavorful and the homemade fluffy bun really elevated the sandwich. I had a cup of the soup of the day, clam chooser and was delighted with how light and flavorful it was. We took home a slice of chocolate cake and Boston cream pie, because they looked so good in the deli case. Not a bad sandwich joint! If ever in the King William's district of town. This place is a hit, the lunch crowd poured in around 1130, but the dining area wasn't filled to capacity. Plenty of folks took their lunches to go... somebody even left with a box of goodies. It was my first experience here. So I asked a frequent flier for a recommendation... roast garlic. The garlic Roast was slathered the sandwich with just enough super duper garlic cream to give a taste buds a pop. The first sandwich was good enough to make me want another. The second sandwich I decided to try was the Turkey Chupacabra, which came with a "gotta rave about" sweet and sour serrano sauce. This sandwich was awesome. The turkey tasted fresh, and the sauce gave it a baby kick for spice... I chose this one to avoid the Turkey Habanero's 5-pepper rating, at least for now. The sandwiches are burger size. No skimping on meat or toppings. The staff were not overly friendly, but they got the sandwiches out with Jimmy Johns speed, and cleared our tables when we were done. I was not waiting very long for either sandwich. This venue is surrounded by street parking, and has indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor/patio seating is covered by trees, so you're not baking in the sun. I'm sure to return to try more sandwiches. The sweet tea is sweet, but the sandwiches are sweeter! read more

I love the station, I've been a regular for about two years now. This past Thursday I got around to biking to the station for lunch. The chicken chipotle sandwich is always delicious, spicy chipotle sauce is not too hot. I added bacon this time and it was a great edition. Their bread is hopefully homemade because it is super soft and fluffy. This time I stuck around to wait for the rain to pass. Decided to get the daily cheese cake and carrot cake. Carrot cake was okay and a pretty big slice for $6. The cheesecake of the day was not so much of a pleasant flavor. It was described as a "thousand island" cheesecake, made with chocolate, coffee, and with walnuts in the base" it wasn't my flavor of cheesecake to enjoy but was a good portion. Note that the station has a busy but comfortable laid back ambiance for people to come enjoy a quick business lunch/meeting. It comes with turkey, cheddar, lettuce,tomato and a sweet and spicy Serrano sauce that is amaze balls!
