Over priced crappy food made of who knows and horrible service. Your better off getting Jersey mikes or buying groceries to do it yourself

Needed food. Wanted quick and simple. Nothing heavy. It's how a friend and I ended up here…read more Just off the main drag of the downtown area, parking is free and a lot easier to find. I don't know what it's like when it's busy because on the day we arrived, the entire area was a ghost town. Not even sleepy - no cars on the road and this cafe was even still opening. Walk in, order and find a seat. Not a lot of seating but there's both indoors and out. We chose to sit indoors as it was a little warm and I didn't want to be out under the sun. See pics of the food. Wanted salad. I tend to always want salad. Went with the Springfield. Crisp and fresh - really enjoyed the toppings and dressing. Harmony. That's how I'd describe this salad. I'd definitely have it again. Grabbed the Hot Springs. Wanted a cold sandwich. Wanted an Italian. Closest I could find and the vinaigrette was even on the side so I could add as much or as little as I wanted. I remember enjoying this sandwich so much I considered grabbing a second for the road. However, we're traveling and gotta try other foods and places. This would be one place I'd go back to if or when I find myself back in Rapid City. This cafe is connected to the brewery (Hay Camp Brewing). In fact, that's where the restrooms are if you need it.

I really wanted to like this place more, I really, really did. Came here on the last day of our…read moretrip exploring the trifecta of National Parks. After being inundated with burgers, I felt like something a little lighter/healthier was in order. AMBIANCE - just off the main strip of downtown Rapid City you'll find this cafe. Cafe is spacious and clean, and is connected to a brewery where, if you're inclined to do so, they will bring your food over to you while you sit there. The Brewery has board games you can play at your table and a variety of pinball machines. SERVICE - service was....ok. I was asking the guy about one of the toppings on the sandwich and he looked at me like I was an alien. Maybe it was his first day? Not sure. He was nice, but not as knowledgeable as you might like for someone working the register. MENU - they had a pretty good mix of sandwiches (hot and cold), and also had a few sides. I also saw they had some homemade lemonades and such, which I was tempted to try, but did not end up trying instead. FOOD - my wife and mother got the badlands sandwich which had roasted sirloin mushrooms, swiss and and side of horeradish mayo. My mom and I both did the rapid city which kind of seemed like a philly cheesesteak sandwich (grilled beef, onions, peppers, jalapenos, smoked gouda with a lime cilantro), while my kids rocked the pastrami. The sandwiches were a pretty good size (at almost $20 a piece, they better be). My kids thought the pastrami was good and after days of burgers, it was a nice change up. My wife liked her sandwich, which was mostly carried by the horseradish mayo. My mom and I thought our sandwiches were just...ok. The meat needed salt, and the lime cilantro was not very flavorful. I ended up stealing some of my wife's horseradish mayo which helped, but just a bit. OVERALL - good not great. Wish the meat was a little more flavorful and the food came out a bit quicker (there was only one order ahead of us and it took a good 20-30 minutes to get our food). Not sure I'd come back. Fortunately it moved fairly quickly. Service was efficient and friendly. The decor is pleasant, kind of a purple Victorian farm house feel. I got a slice of the apple pie and the peanut butter pie to go. The apple pie was awesome! Redolent of cinnamon, the filling was fully cooked, full of soft apple-y goodness. The crust was flaky and sweet and might have have sugar and cinnamon baked in the top crust. Delicious! The peanut butter pie was also great. A soft, light peanut butter filling in a flaky crust. Yummy! The apple pie was the star of the show for me this visit. I can't speak to their ice cream or other offerings. But it looks like they offer lots of savory items as well as coffee drinks. The pie here is truly delicious! My friend did not steer me wrong!

It had plenty of carrots and peas in a thick creamy gravy, snd plenty of big chunks white meat chicken, and side crust not just the little crust on top a lot of places seem to be doing nowadays. It's made here, and it's their specialty. I saw they had strawberry-rhubarb pie and planned on getting a piece. But then noticed their Raspberry-rhubarb-jalapeño and decided I needed to try that. Alas the time for a concert I was going to was fast approaching and I didn't have time for any pie

The inside and outside are dog-friendly, so bring your furbabies. There is also an outdoor water station. I put a card in with a server, was given menus, and then we found the perfect spot outside. There is a huge yard with lots of seating under the covered patio. There is also an uncovered seating area. The bar and tables inside are very unique and some of the coolest I have ever seen in a restaurant. I got a flight (four beers), but it was really hard to decide on only four. I wish we could have stayed longer so I could try more. I went with the Black Hills Blonde, Exit 32, Sturgisweiss, and Pioneer Porter. My flavorite was... Black Hills or Exit with Pioneer in a close third. They were all very good. We shared the BLT with a side of slaw and the Coconut Shrimp with tots. Another thing that made me so happy was that when I asked for a side of ranch, I was given a bottle! The favs of the meal were the BLT, which had very yummy crispy bacon, and the tots dipped in ranch. I could have sat there all day moving in and out of the sun, sipping on beers.
