Found this place by accident because we couldn't get a decent meal in Sturgis. The soups were great as were the salads and sandwiches.. service Was good and the pies were great. This place gets busy at regular meal times so go early. We drove 17 miles each way to eat here versus the poor selections in Sturgis. read more

It was just -----. The food had no flavor or real seasoning. Sad our waitress brought us burnt food and felt it was acceptable. If we didn't mention it she would have just thought that was ok... and it definitely wasn't. We understand it's not her fault but don't bring us anything you wouldn't eat yourself. After paying there was a funny gentleman who wasn't satisfied with his meal either. He let the staff know it was horrible and they immediately removed it from his bill. The ladies who were waiting tables when I visited were very nice and focused on providing great service. The short order cook who prepared my breakfast needs to start over. My eggs were runny and not just the yolk, the hash browns were cold in the middle and had no brown. My son and I visited this Perkins for Breakfast as we drove thru South Dakota. I have been to several Perkins restaurants over the years. This one was very good. The waitress was very nice. We were seated right away. We received our food soon after we ordered. The quality and quantity of each meal was good. The food was cooked to order the first time. The only issue I had was the waitress didn't follow up with us after we received our food nor did she refill our drinks. My wife and I had the steak medallions and shrimp and the fish and shrimp plater. The fish and shrimp were good, but the Steak medallions were absolutely delicious they were cooked perfect and so tender they almost melted in your mouth. We will be back again for the steak medallions. read more

I thoroughly enjoyed my BEST meal of any during our four week journey across Wyoming, Montana, and South Dakota this morning. The breakfast was delicious, but the BEST part was the opportunity to watch Pat the manager as he taught and guided his enthusiastic team of young teenagers serve a packed restaurant. Teamwork, enthusiasm, smiling attitudes, and genuinely hard work restored my faith in young Americans. I'd hire any of them for my own company, anytime! Growing up in the Midwest, Perkins was a go-to breakfast spot for much of my childhood. So, it was a welcome sight when searching for a breakfast spot before getting back to our drive. Arriving at 7am, we were one of just a few folks in the restaurant. We were greeted and seated very quickly, with our waitress heading our way to take drink orders right away. The Boy reported his Rainbow Pancakes with bacon kids meal was "sooo delicious," and I would rate my French toast platter similarly. Our server was very friendly and quick to bring refills. For as big as our party was (about 30), service was pretty good. There was one server I saw regularly, she may have had someone helping her at the other end of our group. But with 30 of us, she only had one oops (that know of) which is not too shabby. We were in a room with several tables that will hold up to 8 people. The doors could be closed to keep our noisy party from disturbing the rest of the restaurant (as much). The food is nothing spectacular. Just your typical diner food. Of all the Perkins Restaurants I have been to over the years, I do not recall ever having a bad experience with the service or the food. Im from the north east and Perkins is not as prevalent as Bob Evans. Today was my first experience at Perkins and I have to say the breakfast was perfect. Pancakes, eggs, and bacon cooked just right. If there is a choice between Bob's and Perkins I will be choosing Perkins every time. I also tried their pancake dippers.. In the center was a strip of applewood smoked bacon.. I mean come on how do u say no to that? They are as tasty as they sound. I will try the non breakfast food and add to this review next time. read more

Five stars for Perkins?? Hear me out. While I wouldn't consider any Perkins a five star restaurant itself, this is by far the best Perkins experience I've ever had. The waitresses are friendly and attentive, our food came out fast and was really good (toast was perfect, bacon was thin but well cooked) and despite a full parking lot, we got in immediately. Perkins, I believe, is a Midwest, family type dining restaurant (very similar to a Village Inn)...food is always good, dependable, and consistent - service is always good. Our waitress forgot half of my meal and looked at me like I was crazy when I pointed out that I had ordered hashbrowns and bacon along with my pancakes, and some other waitress had to bring the rest of my meal out and apologize for her. The only time our waters were filled was when another waitress walked by after filling another table's water and noticed ours were empty! We had to ASK for the syrup despite the fact that 3 out of the 4 orders included pancakes. We had to ask for straws for our drinks. When we ran out of maple syrup, our waitress was nowhere to be seen, so we never did get to finish our pancakes. Mom's food was burnt, which left her in a foul mood the rest of the morning. read more
