I give this place 3.5. The food is good, not great. My wife ordered a filet with mashed potatoes. I ordered the "special" scallops based on server recommend. My scallops served over quinoa were good. Ordered side of green beans. Green beans were under seasoned as well as mashed potatoes. I ordered a side 1/2 Cobb salad was really good. We had cinnamon bread pudding a la mode for dessert, it was good. For the price, everything was decent, not outstanding. Would not go back and cannot recommend. Excellent restaurant, from the very attentive service to the delicious food, all is top notch. The steak was cooked to perfection and the demi glace was fantastic. We also tried their pineapple creme brulee, which was another yummy dish - sweet with a hint of rum and fresh pineapple. Cocktails are strong and priced right, I wish we had another night in town to try some other dishes. We made a reservation, which was not needed on a mid week evening, but the host said to definitely reserve a table Friday and Saturday during main dinner hours. Everything about the experience was fantastic. Mason was an awesome waiter. Very knowledgeable about the menu, how items were prepared and he was very attentive. For an appetizer we had an order of steak tips which were amazingly tender, but made even more delicious by the sauce. I highly recommend it. AMAZING EXPERIENCE! 6+ stars! From the time we arrived (a few minutes late) to Tin Lizzie's, we had an awesome experience. We ordered the $42/person all you can eat and that was the most amazing choice EVER, especially because we like our steaks medium rare. I think the last time we had anything so tasty was at a restaurant that doesn't exist anymore (where if you needed a serrated steak knife, something was wrong). What did we like best? The filet!!! (All the filets!) STARTERS: We had the Filet Mignon whiskey tips appetizer ... a few times, because it was AWESOME!!! We also had the grilled shrimp cocktail and the antipasto skewer appetizers. MAIN: We had a few of the Petit Filet in a cherry demi glaze, which was delicious with a little cherry. CUTE! We had a few of the Petit Bison Filet with a heart of palm and arugula salad that was the best bison we've had ... ever. We also had the sesame chicken. SIDES: The ginger wasabi mashed potatoes had just a hint of ginger and wasabi, which was pretty amazing. We also had the tomato pesto pasta and the grilled asparagus. DESSERT: We had it all!!! We had a tiramisu and banana gelato (like a bananas foster gelato). Thank you to our amazing waitress Alexandria (who likes Pokemon)! We chose the restaurant partially because of the OpenTable reservations and partially because there were so many 5-star reviews! After reading the reviews we decided to have dinner tonight at Snitches inside of Tin Lizzies. It's safe to say whoever the chefs were that actually earned the 5 star reviews are long gone and the kitchen is not any where up to their level. We asked what their medium rare steaks looked liked (warm red, lots of pink, Halie didn't know) and we decided to order 2 medium rare ribeyes. They can always cook it a bit more. It was all downhill from here. So, here's what we got. My steak was crunchy on the outside. Seriously. It crunched on the first bite. It was so over done and chewy I had to send it back. My husband's steak looked pretty good however as he got into it it became super rare. Ok, raw where the while line around the meat is so stringy you can't cut it with the steak knife. Unbelievable. My steak was sent back as was husband's when he got to the raw parts. My second steak comes out and again, it's a little crunchy on the outside and I kid you not it is ice cold in the center on the 2nd bite. My husband looks at me and says how is that even possible? I cut a bite and give it to him and sure as shoot ice cold when your tongue touches the center of the piece of meat. How do you even do that? At this point I don't even want a 3rd steak, just take that off the bill. I've have a 1/2 a salad, some bread, and mashed potatoes. Now they send out the "manager" Alexandria, who is actually the cook in back, who then proceeds to actually argue that the steaks were cooked property and the same and I'm wrong. R E A L L Y??? Instead of getting that meal comp'd we get two 25% off coupons. Ah, we won't need those we won't be back. Halie (waitress) explains that's in place of taking my meal off our ticket. Well, I do math for a living and I can already see where this is going. I step away from the table and the other diners so they don't overhear our conversation and ask to speak with "the manager" again. She is just as defensive swearing those steaks were cooked perfect. I pointed out then why was my husband's rare and mine so over cooked? They were the same she says. She took a picture and sent them to the actually manager who supposedly agreed with her. Then she tells me she only eats her meat well done and my steak was too rare for her to eat. Ah ha! You know that point when you know you're not getting anywhere fast? Well, we were there so I ask her "is this the hill you want to die on? Because if that's the case I'll give you the opportunity to cook that steak correctly a 3rd time to go and I'd be more than happy to pay full price for my meal." After waiting a longer period of time for the 3rd steak, which I took as a good sign, the gentleman behind the bar comes out to discuss this conundrum. I explained to him that I'm paying $15 for mashed potatoes according to this bill and if that's going to be the case I'll take the entire meal a 3rd time to see if she can figure out how to cook it correctly. In the end they removed my dinner from the bill completely, which by the way was $15 less than the "deal" she was giving me. I did get the 3rd steak with mashed potatoes by a much more pleasant Alexandria. Will I eat that 3rd steak, hell no. How does it look see for yourself. How can the middle of the steak on one side never touch the heat? Honestly it has a huge light brown streak. How do you do that? Go have a fabulous meal at The RedWater Kitchen in Spearfish or Jacobs Brewhouse in Deadwood run the heck away from this place. read more

Wow. What a terrific find in Deadwood. The food was terrific. We tried the all you can eat menu and were delighted with the flavors. We will definitely be back. My favorite,hands down, was the salmon followed by the sirloin. They were out of the scampi so I can't rate that. After a late lunch and snacks late afternoon, we visited with the plan of checking out the new menu and trying the Wedge Salad ($6) and a couple appetizers. We were not disappointed! We each had a Wedge. The iceberg lettuce was crisp and fresh complimented with blue cheese crumbles, sweet tomatoes, ranch dressing and prosciutto. Our request for some additional dressing was quickly fulfilled. We went with the Charcuterie Board ($15) and Hummus ($10). The Board was an amazing spread of deliciousness. It only had two meat choices but the ample cheese selections in addition to a wonderful array of gourmet crackers, fresh fruit and nuts made up for it completely. The dipping oil with fresh roasted garlic was a notable finishing touch. If you've ever ordered Hummus to find there was no where near enough Hummus for the pita they provide, no worries! It is not the case here. There is the perfect amount of hummus and the Olive Salsa offers delectable flavors to balance the hummus. A delightful surprise were the Meringue Mints with a hint of cinnamon they deliver with the check which is tucked away in a lovely little wooden box--memorable touches. Great ambience and over the top service but one of the worst ribeye steaks I have had. I ended up with about a cup of grizzle. The bartender must've been a chemistry major because she measured out my cocktail in cubic centimeters. If you want a truly exquisite dining experience with wonderful atmosphere, great service and delicious food go to Legends, downtown Deadwood in the Franklin Hotel, just a few blocks away. They don't take reservations, but if you get there around 4:30 the half hour wait is worth it. You can designate someone to wait in line while the rest of your party can enjoy the view and a drink upstairs overlooking Main Street. read more

We got the charcuterie board, it was mostly packaged crackers and stale pita bread. The fruit was not good either, and should have been tossed. Very disappointing. The other food we got was pretty bland and neither of us finished our meals. I got the wedge salad which was good, and the Mac n cheese which was penne pasta tossed in truffle oil. Blown away. Exceptional fine dining in what feels like the back corner of a casino. Don't let the location fool you though, this place is legit. The Chef here and his team are taking what they are putting out seriously. There's clearly a lot of thought put into each dish on the menu and the wine list is outstanding. A chef's tasting menu with wine pairings for each course is available. There's also quite the list of unique and delicious cocktails on offer. Possibly the best meal I've had in the Black Hills. Definitely the best restaurant in Deadwood by miles. Would return to Deadwood just to eat here again. Had the scallops starter, the lobster pasta, salmon main, and pistachio cake dessert. All had wonderful and complex flavors. Each course was equally impressive and outstanding. Describing them wouldn't do them justice. Shockingly good. My family and I visited Deadwood as part of a two-week trek through the Dakotas, which meant a steady diet of bar food plus some decent but unspectacular stabs at more elevated cooking in Rapid City. Looking for something interesting but not holding out too much hope, we decided to give Snitches a try upon our return from Devils Tower. I was surprised and delighted by it. The art deco setting is unlike anything else in cowboys-and-casinos Deadwood; the hostess and manager, Xanthe Dewolf, was lovely and welcoming; and the food is miles better than anything else we ate, before or after (so from Rapid City to Medora to Bismarck and most points in between). With four family members dining, we were able to try both the tasting menu (including astute and creative wine pairings) plus most of the other dishes on the plank. All were excellent. I live in the S.F. Bay Area, have traveled through 47 states and 70+ foreign countries, and have eaten at multiple Michelin-starred restaurants in here and abroad. If a Michelin taster were to visit Snitches, I think there's a pretty good chance that chef Tucker Walton would get his star. (And I note that I'm not the only one who thinks so -- another poster down below said the same thing.) As far as I can tell, this is the best restaurant in the Dakotas. read more

Probably one of the best new restaurants in the United States. Impeccably curated and mindblowingly good. The food easily constituted the best meal I've had in 2020. The menu is quite limited and I gather it changes frequently so I recommend getting as many items as you can afford and sharing it all. Wine list is amazing, cocktails innovative, service is welcoming and knowledgeable. For the reasonable price this is destination dining. In most major US cities this level of restaurant would be insanely expensive and reservations would be hard to get. The place is in the back of a small casino. It's dark and small but uses the odd location and unusual vibe to its advantage. I've been to a lot of places. This is something special. This is a hidden gem. Go there and support a humble and incredible chef, and one of the best all-around meals I've had in the USA. In a word: unbelievable! This was one of the best dining experiences we've ever had. We heard this place just opened a month or so ago, and had to give it a try after returning from a week in Jackson, WY. Everything we experienced at Snitches was as good or better than the fine dining we had in Jackson. Hands down the best food in Deadwood, possibly including Rapid City (haven't been back to Juniper yet with them re-opening soon). Amazing chef creates the most well-crafted dishes and drink menus, friendly and knowledgeable staff, absolutely delightful cocktails, and as well-crafted wine list as you can find. We had four courses, half of the cocktail menu and a bottle of wine, and everything surpassed expectations. Will definitely be back as the chef indicated he plans to change the menu with the seasons. Really hope this place has the opportunity to grow and develop; it is beyond the space it is in. read more
