We arrived between lunch and dinner, so we waited. My wife wanted lunch and I dinner. The waitress was very friendly and accommodating. When the food was served, it was well plated and appealing. This was the case with all portions of the meal as it was presented. My wife had a hamburger which was large and prepared exactly as ordered with all of the condiments on the side. She was delighted. I had the ribeye steak cowboy cut MR with a house salad and veggies. The steak was delicious, cooked as ordered and tasted great. The salad and other vegetables were all fresh and prepared perfectly. The red mashed potatoes were spot on and broccoli was not over cooked. The food was outstanding and the new decoration or remodeling was perfectly done, leaving just enough of the old mercantile store to still be recognized. read more

The best service we have encountered in the Hills in a long time. Our server Britney could "make it" in any fine restaurant in the country. For an appetizer, we tried the grilled avocado. A very bold menu item but it was pulled off adequately. My 12oz ribeye was just right; perfectly medium rare and a more than average cut of meat. My wife ordered the NY Strip and it was a miss. Heavy marbling throughout and even ordered medium, the fat had not started to render. I would look towards the vendor here first. The sides were all very tasty and cooked correctly. I would like to the see the Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes sliced much thinner though. Overall, it was a pleasant meal in a decent atmosphere. We will be back and hope the back of house has caught up with the front. read more

Popped in for lunch and we were all wildly impressed with everything! Service was stellar and multiple glasses of Arnold Palmers delivered. The decor was unique and years and years ago it was a market. We each were delighted with our lunch- but the French onion soup really stood out! read more

Enough parking options. Clean bathrooms and clean facility. Staff was friendly and very attentive, our waitress would frequently check in on us and anticipated our needs and would make recommendations. We went twice for dinner and I really enjoyed both of my meals. Even though I had a chicken fried steak, it didn't feel sickeningly greasy and neither were my carrots. Salad portions were very generous, enough to share. You can add an additional protein to the salad if you wanted to make it a meal. It feels sophisticated inside, but also laid back. The kind of place you'd go for a nice dinner, but also to hang out with friends. I felt this was a 5 star experience given the consistency in my personal experience, though I will say my husband thought the chicken breast he ate was okay. He stated the flavor was in the sauce, less so the chicken, but the chicken was well cooked and moist. I did taste his beef stroganoff and thought it was good. I enjoyed both desserts. Neither were too too sweet. If ever in the area I would go back, and I do recommend this place. read more

Good food. Stroganoff is delicious. My wife's favorite. Service is fast and friendly.

I have been here 3 times now, and thankful they finally have a decent steak joint in Spearfish. Each time is consistent - and the service is good. I do wish however, they would add some acoustic panels to quiet down the overall noise as it is very well open. I have yet to try the tomahawk - its on my list! read more

The service was outstanding! The food even better!! We had grilled avocado for an appetizer-delicious!!! Ribeye steak was delicious too. We also had scalloped potatoes. The potatoes were the best I've ever had!! Bre was our server. She did a great job. Teresa, the manager, came by and checked on us several times. Overall one of the best dining experiences we've had on a 3000 mile trip!!! The restaurant itself has great ambiance. Try this place if you are in Spearfish and looking for a great place to dine. read more

Steak frites over mashed potatoes was fantastic!!! Service was on point. I'll be back for sure

The food is spectacular and the atmosphere is very nice. The salmon was out of this world as was the scalloped potato. Great service too.

Very pleased with my first visit to Six Goats Tavern. Service was very friendly and food was delivered quickly. The staff was very attentive and even tossed in a free cheesecake for my birthday. My Steak Frites were delicious. I will definitely be back. read more

Great replacement for the Stearfish restaurant that was there previously. A little loud but the food was really tasty and a good selection of steaks and appetizers. Beer and wine only at this time but it will be nice to have an old Fashion with the steaks they offer. Service was a little slow but that could have been because our waiter was training a new employee. Overall a really great place to eat in a town that only offers a few choices. Also the need to start opening on Sunday as well. read more

This place is an absolute gem. The service was great and friendly. I had the steak frites and it was absolutely phenomenal, and then I had the cookie butter banana pie, and my world was changed forever. It might be the best dessert I've ever had. Can't recommend highly enough. read more

We thought the food here was delicious! We felt the food was a great quality. The service was great. The owner was even working and chatting with customers! We love the atmosphere here! read more

One of the top steaks (filet) I've ever had. Tall portion with pleasant char on the outside topped with compound butter and interior was perfectly cooked (medium rare). Carrots were Al dente and mashed potatoes were excellent. Others in our party ordered salmon and chicken. Perfectly cooked salmon. Nothing was over done and everyone loved their meals. Service was attentive and friendly. Highly recommend. read more

You can order dessert to go when there but you cannot call in and pick it up. Per the gal on the phone they don't do take out.

Absolutely everything we ate was awesome. Waitress was very knowledgeable of menu and also I'm assuming the owners were very nice as well...

I arrived there shortly after they opened, but was greeted quickly and asked to sit at the bar. The server was good...not over friendly, but definitely "in charge". I ordered the Ho Sum Chicken salad which was HUGE and had a lot of chicken. I believe they will raise the price, as $12 was a bargain compared to other things on the menu. I had a nice glass of wine and enjoyed walking around Spearfish. The place is in an old building which they did a beautiful renovation to. There is plenty of parking around there too. Sorry for no pics, as my memory card got corrupted and I lost most of my vacation pics. read more

Pricy. My rice was mushy, service very slow, only two tables for a total of 6 people ahead of us. Chairs were extremely hard. Server asked what we wanted to drink before we were even seated. read more

Show up on a Saturday shortly before 7 for dinner, get seated about 8. We both quickly choose the dish we want to order - beef stroganoff - because you rarely see that on the menu. Waitress tells us "we are out of beef stroganoff." Geeze. WTH?? It's a steakhouse. How hard is it to boil some noodles, make a sauce, and chop some steak into it? Ordered spaghetti and meatballs. Noodles were warm but everything else had just been spooned on top almost cold as if it just came out of the refrigerator. Not served with anything, not even a piece of bread. What restaurant serves spaghetti with no bread?? Ordered a wedge salad and it was about 1/4 size of a normal wedge salad and barely enough of dressing or anything else to even cover the lettuce. Husband ordered a draft beer with dinner which came out warm. Who wants a warm beer? We don't. Will never be back. Not sure how this place even comes up in the top restaurants in this area. Very disappointed. read more

Great food! Wonderful service! Had one of the best steaks ever in Spearfish. Great addition to our community!

Lunch today was disappointing. Heavily salted soup served with crackers (circa 1980). The chicken fried steak was small average and overpriced. The salad was fine , but the dressing was as runny as water. Overall great atmosphere sub par Golden Coral food. Not a fine dining steak house tavern. read more
