The worst fast food place in Spearfish! I have not had a single good experience here. All of my friends at college have not had a good experience here. What's bad: *Employees will close over half an hour early. *All the food is bad. The chicken is stale. The fries are ALWAYS soggy and gross. *Somehow even the ice cream is bad? *It will take them forever to finish an order when there is literally no one inside the restaurant and I'm the only car in the drive-through. *One time I stood in the lobby for ten minutes and there weren't any employees out at all?? *Employees are barely at the front counter and don't know what is going on most of the time. *What kind of fast food restaurant closes the drive-thru before the lobby? I now drive to the Dairy Queen in Bel Fourche because this Dairy Queen is so bad. read more

Dairy Queen was soo accommodating for a group of 80 students! I am a first grade teacher and took my class along with our grade level to Dairy Queen for their free cone day while we were visiting for a field trip. They graciously took us in, got every child a free ice cream cone, and did it all quickly and with a smile. What a wonderful place with a wonderful staff!!!!!! They left all students and chaperones with a smile and a wonderful treat. Thank you guys for what you did for us! We will never forget it, and neither will the kids!! God bless!! read more

We stopped in for a quick dessert on the way home. Greeted at the counter with the kid telling us that they are closing in 15 minutes. No worries I tell him. Thats is more than enough time for me to eat my sundae. Although I am not feeling very welcome so far. So he takes our order and collected the money. But then says, "Oh. Actually we are out of hot fudge. Is chocolate ok?" Which to be honest is not really ok since I don't especially like the chocolate and had I known I would have made a difference choice. But ok. Since we've already paid I guess chocolate it is. The sundae was fine. No complaints. As we were eating we hear the manager (at least I assume the person in charge) announce to another staffer that there is 9 minutes left. As we are leaving another car pulls up. It's still 2-3 minutes to the posted closing. There is an employee literally standing at the door with keys waiting to lock up. I'm not sure if those patrons got service. I'm convinced their business was not appreciated. I understand the employees are young but I feel like I am a paying customer helping them to get a paycheck and I should be appreciated. Even with inflation, there is absolutely NO REASON why a small oreo blizzard should cost SEVEN DOLLARS !!!!! My family of four visited this Spearfish location....and were appalled by their ridiculously high ice cream prices. went through asked for a number 1 and number 7 and usually when someone says the number they mean the meal well we only got the burgers and a drink we also asked for extra sauce on the number 1 and didn't get a lot and the drink we got which was Dr Pepper didn't even taste like Dr Pepper it was watered down and gross I'm very upset read more

After spending a week at Belle Fourche Dam & Reservior (beautiful, by the way!) I came into Spearfish early in the morning to do laundry - Double Suds Laundromat - very clean, nice laundromat - my 2nd time there. I'm in a 40 ft bus so I have to research and plan which businesses I can patronize. Sometimes the parking lot is not big enough to maneuver. I generally visit businesses early in the morning to avoid crowded parking lots - and, lets face it, with Covid happening, to avoid people in general. Once I finished my laundry I noticed that Dairy Queen next door would be opening in seven more minutes (10:30am) so I waited and was the first customer in the door. While waiting for my food I saw who I believe to be the owner outside walking around my bus and banging on the door. I step outside and say "hello?" "Is this you?" - he gestures towards the bus. "Yes". "Are you leaving?" "I'm waiting on my food." And I gesture at the restaurant. He smirks "did you sleep well last night?" I smile and say "I sure did" not picking up right away that he was being a smart ass. Got my food from the counter and took it out to the bus. Then it hit me he was assuming that I had spent the night in the parking lot. I went back in and asked to speak to him. "What did you mean by that?" I asked. "Well, you spent the night in our parking lot." "Uh, no, I most certainly did not. I came in early to do laundry since early morning is the best time to maneuver a 40 ft bus in the parking lot. And then I came here to get food.Is there some problem?" "Not now that you're leaving..." So..making assumptions about things where he clearly does not have information to make a valid statement. And just plain RUDE. I was patronizing two businesses in that little plaza. I came early to avoid crowds. I was doing my part in being a considerate customer. Him? He was just rude & snarky. Does this store even care about it's staff and customers? Staff and mgmt are horribly immature and treat customers and each other like crap. Like children. And the store manager seems to have no idea on how to deal with it. Turnover there is extraordinarily high as well which adds to the problems. This is one of those stores where the bottom dollar is what seems to matter. I have been going there for years and it's really went to crap. I was called a worthless piece of crap by a manager to another manager recently. (I was there with my 5 yr old son.) I had said nothing and did nothing to warrant that and at no point had I even made contact with that employee. Nor do I talk to them at DQ or outside of it. I complained to corporate. Over a week later I got a call back from the store owner with no apology and no real interest in fixing the problem beyond 'the necessary steps being taken' with no explanation what that even meant. Is that how you treat customers? Is that what their customer service is all about? Punish the customer and reward the employee? And don't worry, that manager that said that about me is still there as a manager and that was not the only incident with her. Pretty sure no matter what she says or does it will take an act of god to either demote her, fire her, or even get them to change her behavior. Which means they either don't care about it or encourage it. She's a liability to the store and they don't seem to care. So be prepared for a mixed bag of customer service there as well. I will never walk into that business again, nor would I recommend it until that manager is gone and the staff and mgmt team are properly trained. It's obvious the store owner has no clue on how to treat his employees or customers let alone deal with the problems and complaints. And let alone how to properly train them. And if there is someone else doing the training then they really should be demoted or fired as they are doing a horrible job. On top of this because of a horribly immature and poorly trained staff food orders are a mixed bag. So make sure you get everything you ordered and that it was done properly before you leave or eat it. And don't be afraid to call corporate to complain if need be. Their number is directly on the DQ website. After a prompt or so you get a live person almost right away and your case is put on file for later use if need be. Utilize it! read more

I think everyone knows what Dairy Queen is like.. good ol' soft serve icecream, awesome icecream cake, and more. This particular Queen had the most toppings (including limited edition ones that others no longer have) and were faster than the one in my hometown that has twice the staff. Quick and friendly with a relaxing little lounge area in their expanded building, can't go wrong here. read more

I always receive extremely poor customer service when I go to this DQ. Last time I went, I ordered a smoothie. It wasn't blended nearly enough and it felt like I was drinking huge chunks of ice every time. The workers in the drive through barely acknowledged me. This happened the time before when I went to DQ. The worker that time was swearing at one of their coworkers with the drive thru window wide open. The lack of professionalism made me not want to go back again. read more
