    Dry rub wings with coleslaw
    Tailyr K.

We loved their former location; Sled Haus in Lead so we were excited to try their new venture in Spearfish! They were out of several items but were accommodating otherwise; ranch, a beer on tap and not enough wings to complete a full order. We had the dry rub wings (8 wings for $15) and one of the Schnitzels ($28). Wings were delicious! The Schnitzel was underwhelming. Without the gravy the pork had minimal flavor and noodles just seemed like oily egg noodles not what I expected for "German noodles". The red cabbage was super flavorful and honestly the standout of the dish. The waitress was very attentive and the vibe is a moody modern eclectic atmosphere. If in the area I'd maybe stop back and try something else.

The food was not very good. And the service was worse we'll never go back. I see it's for sale.

We have now been there several times. The schnitzel and beef shank are so good. The ambiance is also great! Highly recommend

Mind you, it's not the same location where Wild Bill Hickock was killed (that's across the street at the Old Saloon No 10). We arrived without reservations (they are on Open Table). We were informed that only one waitress was working the whole restaurant but that there were plenty of tables. Thankfully, there were only 4 other tables with customers, so we took our chances. They have a kids menu and quite the list of mocktails. The kids were in heaven and would have happily returned every day for dinner. I had the bison tortelloni. It was a bison steak with cheese tortelloni. It was fine but not remarkable. My husband had the steak frites. His steak was a little fibrous, not a great cut, and certainly not similar to steak frites that I've had in France! I had the recommended red wine, and it was fine. My husband had a local IPA, and he really enjoyed it. Our waitress was very nice and managed the restaurant well for being the only one there. The kids loved their mocktails and liked being able to walk around. Mind you, a lot of pictures are of the historic brothel prostitutes, but they were covered up enough, and thankfully, no one asked me any difficult questions!

If you're visiting Mount Rushmore and looking for a place to eat before or after your visit, I…read morecan't say enough about the Powder House restaurant. It is a must stop. Service was really good from the time I called to be added to the waitlist to our hostess all the way to our server. The food came out at a reasonable time. Ordered: -Kids spaghetti -Kids cheeseburger and fries -Ribeye- a little chewier but still a great cut. -Prime rib made perfectly very flavorful I was super surprise and highly recommend prime rib if you are a prime rib fan. It comes with two sides which I got to pay extra and ordered the garlic fries. Overall, I highly recommend stopping by here to dine. I have no complaints whatsoever. It was actually the best meal I have had during my visit to this state. When my sister in law recommended this spot, I did not think that I would have enjoyed it as much as I did. Just because there is not much food options in the area and I didn't think that this spot could produce really good food since I am from California and am a foodie. And well Powder House is kinda in the middle of no where. Well, 2 thumbs up from this Yelper. Add this spot to your bookmark and make sure you go! Tips: -Call ahead to be added to their waitlist. -Indoor seating only -Alcohol served here -They have a kids menu -They have their own private parking lot -Credit card accepted -They do charge for splitting plate of eight dollars. -Restroom available. -Very laidback casual atmosphere.
