Hot coffee cold food. I had such hopes for a good breakfast and was really let down. There were 4 of us who stopped for breakfast and all of our food was cold, not even slightly warm. When the waitress asked how our meals were, I told her "the food is cold." She said "oh sorry," and walked off. She didn't even offer to microwave it! Needless to say, for the remainder of our stay in the area, we went to Uncle Louies in Sturgis, where the food was hot and the service was great. read more

What a great place! Several friends suggested to stop by. I decided to give it a try and I was so happy I did. I went on a Friday night because I saw their Facebook page said they were serving Prime Rib as a Friday and Saturday night special. Wow, the place was busy but the service was fantastic. My Prime Rib order was served to perfection! I sat in the large dining room but noticed the bar area was full as well and for good reason! So after I completed my dinner, I was happy to find a two piece country guitar band that really had the place in high gear. Great service in the bar area too! This place is a local treat! Restaurant in front and really large bar in the back. Buffet and salad bar starts at 11. Really good diner type food. Didn't try the pie but it looked homemade. We went on a Sunday morning and it was a local crowd of older people after church- we loved it! Tons of seating in the restaurant too. The bar was really big and had a couple pool tables, some electric casino gaming machines, a dance floor type area, and lots of seating at the bar. Came to this place and the waitress did not greet us we thought it maybe was cuz she was with another table so I just sat in and she approached asked what we were goin to drink we made our order and another group of people came in she took their order served the group first even though we were there before she deliver the group's order first ok so I thought maybe everything came first for the first round then we asked for our food (again we order before the other group about 5 min difference between orders and again the group's order came in first. I'm sure this waitress had preference for that group I don't know if it was because she knew them or because we're Latinos and they're white... I have to say this was an incredible experience. We had the Hot Beef Sandwich. It was off the hook delicious. I have been traveling for 35 years with my work and like to try Hot Beef Sandwiches at small town restaurants and cafes. This is the best ever in my travels. From the smooth mashed potatoes to the homemade bread and marinated tender roast beef. This sandwich was smothered in a perfect flavor and consistency brown beef gravy ever. Loved the meal and service was very efficient too. Large portion for the reasonable cost. I can't say enough. read more

Went to the Hide Away Diner in Whitewood for dinner. Usually it is a good place to eat. Tonight, however , I have to say was a very dissatifactory experience. We ordered the large prime rib. My salad was wilted and had several pieces of lettuce that was slimy and rotten. I quietly let the waitress know, so they could check the rest. No big deal, right? Then we got our prime rib. The baked potato was hot, and the prime rib was cold. I mean when you pay $28.99 for a prime rib, you expect it to be hot. Again, mentioned it to the waitress. She didn't really say anything just "oh";. She acted like she was mad that I would mention it, so I said to her that I didn't blame her, but this was not good. She didn't come back to the table until she brought our bill. Told me the owner said there was nothing she could about it. The waitress never asked if she should take it back to warm it up or anything. And the owner, well she walked right past us, she could have acknowledged the problem at the very least. I was not asking for a free meal, but a reduction of price would have been nice, after all it was not the quality we paid for. The owner had been sitting in the bar side and when I asked to speak with her, I was told she "just left". I did not go look so I don't if she was there or not. You know, whether or not I am a local or a "biker" that is no way to treat a patron of your business. So disappointed!!! Bad, bad experience!!! read more
