Wonderful restaurant with good food! Three of us stopped in last Saturday and had lunch here. The atmosphere is very friendly and has tons of items hanging on the walls to look at before your meal arrives. The service was spot on! Nice server with an excellent attitude and very helpful! My wife and daughter had the bbq bacon cheeseburgers and loved them. The sauce they said was fabulous on the perfectly cooked burger! I had the juicy buffalo burger and it was delicious! Wife and I in last night, excellent dinner. After having some great opportunities to try some good beef, elk and bison while on this road trip through Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and now South Dakota, dinner here topped all others. We both had the prime rib dinners; the beef was cooked perfectly and tender beyond any other prime rib that we could remember. Cocktails were excellent, the smoked Manhattan stands out. We were pretty hungry so we picked the first place we came to. They have a huge patio and we wanted to sit outside so it worked out. For outdoor seating, you just seat yourself. Indoor seating you have to wait to be seated. Our waitress, Susan, was friendly. She brought out waters and menus out pretty quick. The menu is pretty basic. Your normal tourist place food. All frozen from Sysco I'm sure. Not that that's a bad thing, just trying to explain the food and menu. We started with drinks. I ordered the Tropical Coconut which is Bacardi coconut rum and pineapple juice. That was pretty good. It comes in a small plastic cup. For food I ordered the cowgirl sandwich which is basically fried chicken on a potato bun. Good. Not amazing. I also ordered the side salad with ranch. It's your basic side salad with iceberg lettuce with some tomatoes and cucumbers in it. I'm sure there are some really fantastic restaurants in deadwood. We were here with a group of friends and stopped for lunch and a couple drinks. Had to wait about 30 mins. for a table, so we had drinks at the bar. When seated, waitress was prompt getting to us. I ordered the Deadwood Dip and it was really good. The au jus had great flavor and the beef was tender. Everyone in our group said their meals were really good. I am avid review reader but I was in deadwood during the covid pandemic and there was a perfect table in the front of the restaurant far from other people so I grabbed it. Our food was great so in this case, I am happy that I didn't read the mediocre reviews. I had a veggie burger that had a distinct cauliflower flavor. Loved it. Okay, so any meal that begins with Rocky Mountain Oysters has to be 5-stars, just for the novelty of it. The "oysters" are sliced, marinated, breaded and deep-fried Bull's Testicles.... This isn't my first time at the rodeo, I accidentally had Elk Testicles in Montreal, but, the waiter called it something like "VI-TALit-A." In any case, the Rocky Mountain Oysters were fine, but, not as good as the Fried Avocados. I am going to have to look up the recipe for this, as they were just so delicious! We split both appetizers three ways; and, enjoyed both of them very much. Supper was light, with two of us splitting the BLT and Onion Rings; and, our other dining companion chowing down on the Boss Hog. The BLT was on a nicely toasted bread, with plenty of bacon, lettuce, tomato, and dressed with mayonnaise. The onion rings were outstanding, fried super crispy; and, tender inside. The bbq sandwich looked fine... he doesn't talk much. An Angry Orchard (hard cider) and a Fat Tire (beer) rounded out our orders, with me asking for lemonade. Victoria did a fine job, making sure my drink was never lacking. My husband and I visited this place a few times while on vacation in 2018 and couldn't wait to return last week when we vacationed in the area again. Imagine my dismay to discover that the awesome entertainment, that was offered in the form of Yancy, was no longer a thing. I was told that Yancy was let go because he was a little risque and Deadwood is trying to become a family vacation destination. Are you kidding me? It didn't work for Las Vegas and it isn't going to work for Deadwood. Bring Yancy back! My husband and I were so disgusted to learn of this faux pas that we spent our money elsewhere. Having said that though, we did spend a little time in the casino and I was very impressed with the young guy that followed me from the door right to a machine and asked me if he could get me a drink. read more

Wow. Unexceptional food and bad service. Good prices for wine and draught beer though. If they remember to bring it. Answer to the question "Are your soups homemade?" "Um, well, they're not bad or anything." Similarly perplexing answers to other menu questions. Medium rare steaks came well done. Soup came without a spoon. Server promised to bring a spoon and came out of the kitchen three more times before I walked to the hostess to request one. Beer ordered was charged but not delivered. This place is absolutely horrible except for the waiting staff, they were great. Ordered a side of onion rings and they gave us some that tasted like they had been sitting out for a few hours. The menu says homemade chicken tenders but they were extremely over cooked and looked like they were out of a frozen bag. The mellow yellow was stale, the mozzarella sticks were cooked to the point that the cheese melted out. The corn on the side was out of a can. This food all seemed to be frozen cafeteria food. This place is kid-friendly and has a good variety on the menu. Kids meals are available. Nice, big room with junk on the walls and a gallows in the corner. This was our second choice after turning-away from the Deadwood Social Club as a family meal. The walleye is delicious. Also recommend the cheese steak. Reasonable prices. Service was a bit slow, but the place got busy and the server was working many tables. We waited a bit for the check at the end of the meal, then went to the register and the guy there was able to ring-up our order. My wife and I stopped here while on a business trip. They feature a small menu and a full bar. There is slot machines on one side in a different area. We were the only ones here due to a blizzard. The bartender was great and we had good conversation. We ordered bloody Mary's and the bartender told us the history of the establishment and also provided insight on some of the local hangouts and places we should have dinner. Overall, considering we were the only ones at the bar, I could see this as a nice attraction when the crowds come through during the summer. read more

There are actually two parts to this location. The bar area, which seems to be visited only by a few, old timers down on their luck, and then the entertainment area where the stage is at, which is encircled by a bunch of tables and chairs... the closer to the stage they are, the closer they are jammed together, and the area just in front of the state is open air. I would give caution in stating this is a family friendly place. Sure, kids are welcomed, and in the back area, there is even room for them to wonder around the table a bit. But, it will all depend upon the other clientele. If the crowd is not too drunk, then it's probably okay for the kids. But, if there is a drunk group all wild and stupid, then I don't think it would be a place for kids. So my advice is before getting seat, stand out front, and you can see right into the place as the front is all open as well and you can gauge rather quickly what condition the crowed is in. As typical of any place in Deadwood, the place is decorated Western style and it actually has some good history to it too, which you can read about on the menu. Our waitress was really nice and friend and I liked the fact that she elaborated on the history of the establishment and pointing out pictures of the original owner. The menu itself is simple, although I though it a bit pricy. My daughter got the pulled pork sandwich which she really liked and I got a steak, which was good... not the worst and not the best and perhaps a bit overpriced. I did enjoy a few beers while listening to some good music being played by the local band. In conclusion, if you're looking for family friendly, this place is good, but just use a little caution. Steak was blue rare--warmed one side, flipped and warmed on the other side. Let them know it was not cooked medium rare... they took the ribeye where the cook probably flash steamed it to bring the temp up and placed it back on the same plate. This ruined the rib eye completely. Brought this to the server's attention and the manager offered to "buy" our last round of drinks which to her totaled $6--that wasn't the total..... For a ruined $30 ribeye? So after talking to the manager again, she removed the cost of the ribeye...and added 2 more drinks to the tab which we did not receive or drink...!!??!! read more

The one thing that people must be careful of when visiting a touristy places is the small town touristy restaurants. They tend to have average food with high prices and they look pretty from the outside. They draw the tourist in and then don't really care about the quality of the food. Buffallo Bodega falls into this category. We stopped in when visiting Deadwood and ordered up. My wife and I got the bison burger and western bacon burger and split them. The Western Burger was pretty good, but the bison burger was dry and chewy. Nothing at all close to the 12.95 that they charged. Fries were average and onion rings were just ok. The service brought it down a star because they waitress was sooo slow and clueless. I don't know what other options Deadwood has, but I am sure there are a few other places that might be worth trying. read more

We tried two places for lunch to find out that they were opened dinner only. Tired, we sat down here. The good: Service was friendly and the food came out quickly. The 'meh': the food was 'OK' at best. I had the salad with grilled chicken. The chicken was freshly grilled and just right, however the salad was more or less iceberg lettuce, leaving a lot to be desired. The fries were the starch coated kind - so they were crispy on the outside, but had no meat on the inside. So like my salad, they were on one hand hot and fresh, but of limited quality.
