Should've read the reviews. Worst service ever. Not even a "hello," just looked at me. What if I had never been there before? Lordy. Second, the "Italian herbs and cheese" was nearly white bread. Barely any herbs, and pretty sure there was no cheese. It ALMOST resembled the herbs and cheese, but they definitely were stingy on the flavors/seasonings. Third, OMG THEY ARE STINGY ON VEGGIES. On a foot long, they gave FOUR tomatoes, FIVE pickles, and TWO banana peppers. Asking for extra of everything should not be a standard at a subway. Fourth, I asked for "a little" honey mustard and they pretty much dumped the container on the sub. Cost me $7.45. I only ordered a footling ham with veggies. Nothing special. I asked if that was correct and apparently it was. Not going back here. This location needs to do better. read more

This Subway is by far the worst I have ever been in. Due to a deficit of fast food places in the area, it's still open. I just paid $12 for a Doublemelt and was served a soggy sandwich with NO cheese, almost no meat, and microwaved soggy bread. Disgusting. Unfortunately no one at the franchise speaks English and had zero interest in correcting it. On previous visits I have been denied lettuce and tomato, and CHARGED EXTRA for a measly T of guacamole ON A SANDWICH THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE GUACAMOLE. Husband and I went in to grab a quick bite to go. Hubby got a foot long #12 and a water bottle. I got a foot long #10 Total was $33.10. Total BS for 2 sandwiches and a water bottle!!!!!!!!!! Tried to place an order on the app for a chicken/bacon ranch salad. With double meat, the total came out to $12 after tax on the app. Pricey for a small salad, but ok. When I tried to check out, the app gave me an error message and didn't let me order. I was just a few minutes away, so I went to the store and ordered the exact same thing in person. They made the salad and rang me up for over $15 (almost $16). When I showed him that the order was much cheaper in the app, he said the online prices are different. When I expressed how little sense that made, he just put his hands in the air as it to say Tough luck. So, I paid almost $4 higher at the store for what amounted to a very overpriced side salad with chicken and bacon. Very dishonest. read more

This is hands down the worst subway I have ever been to. Each time I've gone, there's something off with the bread. It's shaped like a subway footlong, but it tastes nothing like it. They've deviated from the recipe or something. Another thing that irks me is how incredibly stingy they are with veggies. I found 1.5 slices of tomato and two pickles in my footlong turkey. My last gripe is that I ordered today through DoorDash one Italian with southwest, pickles, olives, and lettuce and one turkey with tomato, pickles, mayo, and lettuce. They completely swapped all the toppings for each sandwich and gave ya the wrong bread. Also, the bread could be knocked on to sound like I was hitting a rock. So stale! Worst service here. They refused to give me an extra plastic bag when I asked for one to hold my COLD bottled drink (and chips) so that it wouldn't squish my WARM subs. Never been denied a plastic bag before. Got major attitude for asking, too! And that's on top of all the other rude crap they pull. They don't greet you when you come into the store, they don't even address you when they talk to you; the woman behind the counter wanted to get my attention while I was waiting for my order so she banged her knife on the counter. I took my daughter to the Holden Subway as a treat today and was extremely disappointed with the service. I attempted to use a gift card and it did not go through and the woman working behind the counter did not offer any explanation and just said "it is your problem". I told her I remember this happening in the past with A gift card and she said with an even RUDER tone, "it's your problem". I came home and told my wife to never go back to that Subway. I will use the gift card at another Subway and consider not giving my business to subway any longer if they are going to have such rude people working and/or owning their franchises. If I could give this location a 0/5, I would. I was told I could not eat within the location at 6:00 because they had cleaned the store for closing at 9:00pm. I called the owner and told them of this issue, and was told it would be rectified. Furthermore, I use to work at a Subway in high school and know how much meat is supposed to be on my select sandwich. When I prompted that my sandwich was supposed to have six pieces instead of the given four on a foot long, the lady behind the counter yelled at me and told me to never come back. I understand that being pestered about your profession can be difficult but this is one of the worst run Subways I have seen. Raising your voice and screaming at your customers because of a concern seems a bit ridiculous. read more

I have always relied on Subways for a fast meal...until I encountered the Holden, MA location. On my first encounter I marvelled at the ridiculously small amount of vegetable toppings they put on my sandwich, and was confident this did not meet brand standards. But even more of a turn off was how the owner spoke to a young man working there. After experiencing these same issues a few more times, we quit going there. We recently sold our house. While cleaning and packing for the move, it was more convenient just to run to Holden vs the longer drive to a Worcester location. My husband made the run for subs on a few occasions. The subs now had adequate toppings and it appears just the owner and his wife are working there, but a new issue cropped up. My husband said that the man now asks you to add a tip on your card, and becomes quite surly when you don't. Although we both do not believe in tipping in this situation, and are offended when we are TOLD to do it, my husband complied just to make the pick-up quicker and easier. Yesterday I stopped in. I asked for a chicken breast sub, but asked to have the chicken breast left out of the bun - to just set it beside the sandwich. I have done this many times, literally all over North America, and it has never been a problem. I didn't tell him why but it is because I am a vegetarian...but my little dog isn't. When travelling this is how I feed her, especially in airports. This made him instantly mad and he said I was making it "so complicated". He took over where his wife was adding the vegetables. He started wrapping up the bun with the chicken breast beside it and said "is that all?". I said no, I wanted vegetables. He was huffing and puffing, complaining and sort of slamming things. At the till I asked for cookies and a fountain drink. I paid cash. He held up the tip jar and told me to put a tip in there. I ignored him and asked for my cup for my drink. He said he didn't charge me for the drink. I asked how much it was, and proceeded to take money out of my purse. He snatched the cup out of my hand and told me to pick up the dollar bill I had just put on the counter, and hand it to him "nicer"! I said to just forget about the drink and turned to leave. Again he told me to put money in the tip jar. I said no, I wasn't tipping him, that he had been extremely rude to me. He started yelling that he was trying to run a business. I said he wouldn't be in business long if he treated customers like this. He yelled that I was never to come back. I am a 57 year old woman. I didn't go into the Subway looking to pick a fight! And I can't remember ever being treated so rudely, in any circumstance. There were three or four teenage boys behind me, their eyes big as they witnessed this crazy scene! So, I wouldn't recommend this particular Subway since it has been uncomfortable every time we've gone in there. This guy has such a temper that you never know what he has done, or will do. I'm guessing the brand made him add more vegetables in order to keep the franchise but I'm also guessing it takes a lot for Subway's corporate office to intervene, since he is generating revenue in terms of franchise fees. We go here from time to time. I always get a 6 inch veggie sandwich, but it seems like they are so stingy with the veggies! If you end up with the male manager as your server, you will be lucky to get everything you asked for in-between his Blu tooth phone calls. If you by chance happen to get his wife, the female manager, you might as well go to a different eating establishment. Very forgetful and rude to their employees. This is by far the worst place to eat in Holden. The number one reason is that the man and woman who usually work there are rude and have zero personalities. They push you to leave a tip on the credit card machine and give you a dirty look if you don't. The food is below average and they slap the condiments on the sandwich like they're mad at you for being there. This place is disgusting! I would give a minus review if I could. The man and woman working there (I believe they're married), are the rudest people I've ever met. Neither of them were wearing masks and I was rushed along as though I was an annoyance to them, even though there was no one else in the store. I went with my 8yr old nieces. I asked the woman to show me the cheese bread and she gave me a dirty look and walked away. She then started talking about me, in another language, to her husband, who then took over the order. He kept rushing me and putting the wrong items on the sandwiches. I didn't realize until later that he skimped on everyhing, didn't put any cheese on, and all the sandwiches were burnt. I was disgusted at the whole process and would have walked out if the kids weren't with me. As I was paying, with a credit card, he kept pointing to a screen that popped up, saying "that's where you put the tip". Three times he repeated that. I live by this place, I go often, and I have found myself on several occasions turning around and leaving, even when I've only got 4 other people in the restaurant! If you like Subway ( I do) then you know what to expect. I like the variety of healthy sandwiches so I go there more then other sandwich shops. This place doesn't seem any slower or faster then others. It's clean, orderly and everyone is very friendly or professional. My only complaint is they do put on way too much dressing even when you ask for a little, but EVERY Subway does that which is kind of crazy. I would like to see how much they put on if you ask for a lot since (to me at least) they put on A LOT when I ask for a little. The mustard should compliment the other ingredients, not over power everything else and drip out. Sorry rant over, as I said almost EVERY Subway I have ever been too does this so I don't mean to single this store out and it doesn't stop me from going quite often. read more

Hate giving bad reviews....but, when warranted I will. Went for lunch and there was one customer ahead of me. I watch as the woman working left her gloves on while she took his money, checked him out, and then proceeded to make my sandwich with the same gloves on. While my sandwich was toasting, she cleaned under the counter and threw something out (same gloves on). Left the gloves on while she also checked me out. I complained to corporate and never got a response. One other reviewer says the place is "clean" but some of their workers clearly do not know how basic sanitation works. read more

Was at Holden Subway at noon. Busy time....they had three employees working. Two were spot on and doing their jobs....the third was obnoxious and should rethink her job choice. Yes it was busy....it is lunchtime and you are a sub shop.....not brain surgery people. They got an online order...she screams very sarcastically....oh great another online order.....isn't that your job? So she hands me my pizza and as I walk away I hear her mutter ...you're welcome.....I stop and look at her....the look of defiance and utter gall this girl gave me. I thanked the other two employees but I guess because I didn't thank her personally for handing me a pizza....because the person who made the pizza couldn't teach me....I get her wrath.....it is your job...if you can't handle a rush during lunch time....find another job. The entitlement of people continues.......to the other people working with her....good luck! read more
