I saw a sign for this place in the West End, and my growling stomach led me to it. It's a lot smaller than I imagined it to be however the tables are like benches so it actually sits quite a few people and it's not awkward to sit beside someone you don't know. There's a good selection of food and the sandwiches and rolls are definitely worth the money. I had 'The Works' which was a full breakfast that once after eating, I thought I was going to have to be rolled out the shop. The waiter was quite a quirky guy which I liked and he was very friendly and quick to serve. The chef also came down and he too was very nice. I liked the feel of the place, we weren't hassled all the time by waiters and it's a place where you can get an actual lunch that doesn't involve burgers or cardboard sandwiches.

Oh well, I have places like Great Western Sandwich Co to sort me out. I needed a sandwich. I wanted it fast. And I had £10. I was going down GWR so stopped off here as it's one of the few places along here that I haven't tried (pls forgive me, GWS Co). I had heard good things from Yelpers though so I happily handed over my £10 (and got £5 change, mind you) for a Polo Loco sandwich. The space here would be good for hanging out in, there is actually more seating than I expected so I might eat in next time (although I don't think there are customer loos). The Polo Loco has: chicken marinated in cayenne, paprika and lime, sour cream, avocado, black beans and fried potatoes. Who puts potatoes on a sandwich? I didn't notice that when I ordered, or when I ate half of it but I've started to accept that carb-on-carb action is pretty standard in Glasgow. The sandwich didn't take long, I'm guessing around 3-4 minutes and was nicely presented for takeaway. It would cost £1 extra if I was going to eat in but I had places to be. I had the delicious smell of my sandwich taunting me the whole way home and I'm happy to say, after scoffing half of it that it really is delicious. The chicken is generous, the other toppings all work really well too and it's a hearty beast that I haven't been able to finish. Yet.

They're about the same size and always packed, and huzzah, their sandwiches are delicious at both locations. I had walked by a few times the day I finally popped in for a late lunch, as they were swamped the whole lunch rush. I managed to squeeze in to the queue around 2pm and I could tell they had just been through the ringer with the lunch crowd. The guy ahead of me wanted a chicken tikka sandwich but they were out of a couple of the ingredients, so he ordered something else. When it was my turn to order, the guy jokingly said 'let's see if I'm able to make your sandwich!" I ordered the Chiken Ole which was chicken meat, manchego cheese, chorizo, salsa and a spicy mayo on ciabatta. The only one thing they didn't have was the salsa, which in exchange they offered me a bit of salad with some sweet chili sauce. I decided against the sauce and took the salad! What a delightful sandwich this was. My stomach is growling just thinking about it! The bread was freshly baked and so delicious, even at 2pm. The ingredients were all fresh and piled high in to the bread. I also grabbed a bag of crisps and a lemon mint san pellagrino. The greatest lunch on the go I've had in a long while. The guys in here were cool as anything and the music was great. The queues might be long but the sandwiches are worth it. They also serve soups, coffee and baked goods if you're looking for something sweet. I will be back for sure!

If you have never been in to Nics Deli (why not? what is wrong with you?) it is a cool, but incredibly busy little lunch spot with a wall of cool black and white pictures, a large service counter and a few painted wooden tables dotted around so you can choose to sit in. Okay! Okay! enough about the decor, lets talk about the food because this little slice of American heaven is a lunch time mecca for me - Hotdogs, Sandwiches, Wraps, Baked Potatoes, Salad Bowls and Taco Bowls crammed full of delicious and imaginative fillings....you can find their full menu here, I would tell you all my favourites but honestly I love them all. As well as a great choice of savoury options their sweet offerings are off the charts amazing - the donuts are INCREDIBLE, best donuts I have ever tasted, and again with amazing flavours and topping to choose from. Also on offer is a selection of light fluffy american pancakes and waffles with tons of lush flavours to choose from. Are you getting the impression that i love this place? Because I really really do. On this particular visit I ordered a foot long cheesy pig dog, which is a hotdog covered in bacon and melted cheese and was exactly as delicious as it sounds....although this is definitely something I need to eat with a fork and knife because it is so big and messy. For dessert I choose what can only be described as the king of all donuts - a cookies donut sandwich! I'll give you a moment just to process the thought of a cookie donut sandwich!....... This is one of their regular freshly baked donuts slathered in fondant and sandwiched between two crunchy but chewy peanut butter cookies, then topped with honeycomb and more fondant - are you speechless? I certainly was when I saw it and I can't even begin to tell you how epic it tasted, even if it did take me 3 sittings to finish it. Nics Deli is one of my favourite lunch time spots in G-Town, due to the calorie count I clock up on my visits I tend to keep it as a treat and maybe only visit once a month....but boy the calories are worth it.

I'm not in this part of the city often so have to admit I was very pleased to see this place! I've eaten in all three now, and each have the same menu of deliciousness (they should call it that actually - BOW DOWN BEFORE THE MENU OF DELICIOUSNESS!) chock full of taste combos that make me salivate, all available on a variety of breads or whacked on a baked potato. And that's before I get to the donuts (better than Krispy Kreme?). I had the Manwich - horrible name, great sandwich. A wonderfully meaty affair, but all of it tasted great, soft and moist turkey breast, nicely peppered pastrami and... some ham I think too? Chuck some BBQ sauce in there, throw it all on a ciabatta, toast it and deliver to my face hole, stat!! Is what I didn't say to the lady who served me, but it was something like that... And I'm salivating now thinking back to it. Sure it's all a bit cheap and cheerful, but the staff are always friendly, and you can even mix up your own amazing concoction of deliciousness if you are feeling creative! It's kinda hard to fault any of these establishments, so if I was being very picky I'd suggest that this one was a little cold inside so I ended up keeping my jacket on. No biggie though!
