An extraordinarily handy sandwich and takeaway place just a few minutes walk from me. It's small, but has a few stools at an Ikea pale wooden counter attached along one wall; though this place mainly deals in immediate takeaways. The odd time, you might witness someone at a stool with a coffee reading the paper but this is highly unusual.
Mainly this food shop is used by workers from Weirs Pumps across the road . So do attempt to avoid it at peak times as it can be far too busy and service takes too long to be worthwhile.
Service, and the staff who provide it, can be unpredictable. Sometimes, you get a pleasant and chatty reception with good, quick service; other times (and more frequently) they seem almost hostile. I suspect on these occasions, I've happened to walk in the middle of an intense: then he said and then I said. And THEN...etc
Anyway, the occasions when I've been in the service and staff have not been amazing. Meanwhile, the prices are a little pricey for what you are actually getting - ready made, reheated products and/or cold fillings in your choice of bread.
Nice enough and definitely a welcome change to chippy lunches, but not nice enough to justify spending around a fiver for lunch. read more
