It's somewhere I wouldn't normally go but Angela had been before and new some good places to visit including The Glad Café. We opted for a brunch and I had my favourite dish French Toast, bacon and maple syrup. Yum! I had a cheeky mocha and it just complicated my delicious mound of food goodness on my plate. The place was always constantly busy and it was like a tardis and much bigger than I thought. The entrance is just a door with a small shop beside it, once you walk down the corridor it just opens up and it was wonderful. It was bright and it's for all ages. I wouldn't mind seeing a gig here as they always promote local talent. It's a great project and I'm so glad, literally, it's became such a success.

I was only here in the bar for a drink after work but it is such a lovely and cool place to hang about it. Some might say living in the West End I am spoiled for choice for hip bars/venues but I really don't think there's anywhere WE quite like the Glad Cafe. It reminds me more of Stereo or Mono in that not only is the GC a great place to have a drink but also does really nice food (so I hear) and puts on gigs and other such events. It's what Shawlands/the South Side has been crying out for. If I lived local this would most definitely be my local. Beers on tap the evening I went were Brooklyn Lager, William's Lager and Caesar Augustus, West Munich Red and a Sam Smith's beer. This is a really good selection for a place the size it is. Prices were not too bad either ~ £3.50 for a pint of the William's Bros. lager. They also had some nice bottled beers too, including the Drygate beers. The wine list looked pretty substantial also and again, pretty good prices. I did have an issue with the West Munich Red beer in that it tasted bizarre/off but thankfully the nice girl serving let me choose another beer instead. I like the decor, furniture and layout of the cafe, it feels very boho and being in here on a Winters evening with all the wee tealights lit it was delightfully cosy & just what I needed after a long, tiring week. If you want to come here for food I noticed the kitchen stops serving at 7pm which surprised me as just assumed this was a place were folk could come for an evening meal but obviously it really is more a 'cafe' than just the name suggests. Great place, lovely vibe and providing that little bit something extra for the area ~ I'm a fan.

Yet restaurants kept this practice to maximize their profitability. And if you eat out a lot, you probably run into this many times. It's pretentious in a place that's supposed to serve you fresh cooked gourmet meals. I will say that the service was very good.

The decor is light and airy with a feel of being at the beach (well for me anyway) lots of light blues. It is small and I can imagine could get pretty busy. We arrived and got a lovely window seat. The staff were friendly, helpful and fun. I ordered the cheeseburger minus the bun and it was delicious I especially liked the chillislaw. The tomatoe sauce comes in cute little jars. We all enjoyed our food, the only downside was the price as I feel it was slightly over priced for what we had. Over £10 for a burger. But that aside I will defo go back again.

I tried the evening menu a few weeks ago and it was excellent. Beef with black pudding to start, perfectly cooked fish to follow and then really good coffee. At just over £40 for 2 starters, 2 mains, dessert and coffee it is amazing value. I cannot recommend this place enough. If you want a little bit of Europe in Glasgow this is the place to be.

I would have stayed longer but they close at 5pm on a Friday and Saturday to re-open at 6.30 for evening service. We didn't eat anything else in the order out of caution, as the risk of food poisoning was too high. I grew up in Greece and know seafood -- this was clearly off. Given that my mother was previously sick for weeks due to bad crayfish, we weren't willing to take any chances and threw out the entire meal. I contacted the restaurant immediately. The manager acknowledged the issue and initially offered a replacement meal for collection only, which felt dismissive considering the seriousness of the situation. I was told I'd be called the next day by the area manager -- that call never came. Eventually, someone called around 7pm and all they did was refund one meal and insinuate that we didn't know what we were talking about. It was condescending and disappointing. Expecting us to collect a free meal from the same kitchen that nearly served us spoiled seafood is not a solution -- it's a lack of accountability. Pointing us toward Uber Eats to resolve the issue just felt like passing the buck. Food safety should be a top priority, and the lack of proper follow-up or genuine concern from the team is alarming. Massive flatscreen TV on the wall with MTV Teen Awards on... just what I love to watch eating out... ahem. Lass sat us down and gave us the menus.. or should I say battering rams, as they were so large, we both couldn't read at same time, really no need for a menu to be bigger than the table! Took drinks order & Fiona ended up with a small glass, not a pint of diluting juice. Couple came in after & same waitress sat them down and explained the menu & 2 courses for £9.95 etc.. Something she didn't do with us. Some consistency would be useful. We had a voucher for buy one, get second curry for a £1. Always sounds great, but you know it ends up the same cost. Tender lamb and nice flavours, but it did become boring after a while with the sweetness. Fionas again was nice, but suffered the same fate. Not being an Ashoka curry go to person, it really did feel like the sauces were added to the dishes, compared to say Cafe Asia in Muirhead, where it's cooked fresh. We had a few different people serving and all quite pleasant and well mannered. Our bill was wrong, as they charged us for the drinks from the table next to us, that had already left..doh! As usual though, the bill despite a second curry for a £1, still came to £25 for one starter and two curries. Not that much of a saving, as thats what we would pay in Cafe Asia. Probably would give this another go and try something different. The burgers going past our table looked amazing, to the other restaurant downstairs (rather random I know!). One of the better places, but not in the same league as Mother Indias/The Dhabba etc. You Gotta At Least Try It - :-D
