Social Bite's brand new 2nd store in Glasgow is probably my go-to lunch spot at the moment. Its really close to the 'business district' and Central Station, which makes it nice and easy to get to and its already looking a lot busier than their first store. Which is great, because not only do they serve up delicious freshly made sandwiches, salads and wonderful home made soups, but they have a fantastic ethical policy. Basically helping homeless people get back into work by training them up to join their team. That and 100% of their profit goes to good causes!
I tend to go for the amazing meal deal which includes any sandwich / wrap / baguette, soup and a piece of fruit for a mere £5. There really isn't much better value in the city centre and I'm glad the deal does not include a drink as I am always happy with water anyway.
Social Bite is a real stand out in the Glasgow lunch scene. Firstly, the food, its really tasty, especially the soups which are always fantastic but the fact that they help so many disadvantaged people is a truly unique selling point. As they put it, this is not a PR stunt or a token gesture, but the real deal and a totally different way to run a business. Refreshing!
