The service at 3711 Campus Drive location is, by far, the worst I have ever experienced. Unfortunately, this sentiment is not unique to me as I have heard similar feedback from other colleagues and students as well. From a convenience standpoint, this location is ideal. It is the closest to where I work and easily within a 10-minute walk, making it a practical option for quick grab-and-go meals on busy days. However, due to repeated rude and harsh interactions with staff, I stopped visiting this location more than three years ago. Recently, I decided to give it another try to see whether things had improved. Regrettably, the experience was even worse than before. It is disappointing that the same two employees continue to interact with the public in this manner without apparent consequence. I found a bug in my food and when I called the place the worker was very rude and ignorant. He said his name was rakai and when I told him there was a bug in my food he said he wont give a refund all he can do is just remake it, and said theres no bugs around him so there wasn't any in my food. If it were not for the fact that this Subway is under my apartment building, I would never come here. Even though it's location is convenient, I go out of my way to avoid coming here. The employees are stingy and often not paying attention. Ask for spinach and you get maybe 8 spinach leaves if you're lucky. One time, I had asked for peppers and noticed that a slice of onion had fallen into the peppers container and ended up on my sandwich as well. I pointed it out to the employee asked them to just take it out and not only did they not take it out after I repeated asked them to, they covered it up. I found it later in my sandwich. Now, I am not allergic to onions, but I am concerned when I think about how much cross contamination there is for people who are allergic. To a certain degree, cross contamination is to be expected, however, their flippant attitude to their customers requests were rude and potentially dangerous. I have also noticed that their lettuce is wilting or their spinach looks as if on the verge of going bad. This makes me question the sanitation of the store and if extreme shortcuts were taken to save money. Another instance occurred when Subway was running a promotion that gave everyone a free drink before 11. When my sandwich was getting rung up, I asked for a drink and the employee, Shamoli, charged me. When I pointed out that it was 10 minutes to 11 she rolled her eyes, laughed, and gave me my discount. Having worked customer service before, I found her behavior deceiving, rude and insulting. She should be aware of the promotions that are running in her store and aware of the details. I should never have been charged for it in the first place. She also talks to her coworkers while working on sandwiches and misses out on the customer's requests because she is holding a conversation. Would not come unless there are dire circumstances. They also offer a free cookie for a Yelp review, which I think is fine, but then I overhear them telling another customer that it must be a 5 star rating, which I believe is against Yelp rules. read more

This Subway is so vile. I wouldn't take the 5 star reviews seriously, there's a sign that says if you write them a good review on yelp you get a free sandwich. Save yourself from getting sick over saving yourself $6. Two rude young dudes working, out of bread options (So they choose what bread they have for you), frozen meats with frostburn and most of all they need to get a slap from health inspection. I watched the guy make a few sandwiches before mine and he didn't change his gloves. I wasn't bothered by that, because at least he was touching food and I don't have any serious food allergies. BUT IT GETS WORSE. Then I watched as he was cleaning with the dirtiest rag towel around the sandwich making area & underneath while dipping it back and forth in dirty water with the same gloves. He did not change his gloves after cleaning and then he used the same gloves to take the sandwich out the oven and used it to put on the toppings... after he was cleaning under the boards and touching nasty rags.. why. The tipping point was the end once he used a really dirty knife with brown stuff (and maybe tuna) to cut with and spread. Many people have told me they despise this subway and even find hair baked into the bread. When you call them out on their faults, they act like its no surprise. I didn't believe it all til now. Went to this location to get some subs August 15, 2020. I will have to say that the service was the best I have had in a very long time. Methu James's service was so good I had to ask him for his name to make sure in was included in this review. Not only that I had to go back just now and he actually remember me. Partially because I order 9 subs the last time but I fully believe je is just a great human being. Now just being nuce because it is his job but because he believes its the right thing to do. Remembered my dad and everything. Best believe you have gotton a loyal customer, me and my whole family will be frequenting this Subway. And after reading the other reviews about getting free stuff for good reviews on not getting nothing free nor do I want any free stuff. This may be the worst subway in college park out of the 10 million there are. The employees aka sandwich artists don't really take pride in what they are doing at all. I came in there after class l to get a sub, and as the woman made my sub besides giving me a stank attitude while asking me what I wanted she chose what appeared to be the cuts of veggies she very much wanted to get rid of and tossed them onto my sub in a disarray and not even the proper amounts or in the correct sequence (I used to work at Subway, 1st job). I had to open my mouth and ask her to put adequate tomatoes that didn't look two days old onto my sandwich and to also put the proper amount of cucumbers (6) on my foot long sub. This place is trash. Sure it's clean, but they are super cheap with the ingredients. The woman making my sandwich put two small scoops of chicken on a footlong and then proceeded to spend about 15 seconds trying to spread the sparse chicken out to make it look like more. When I got to the register, I attempted to use my Subway rewards card which I know for a fact has at least 3 free sandwiches on it, but I was told by 3 different employees that it had no money on it. After trying to explain that it never had "money" on and it was a REWARDS card, I eventually gave up and paid for it out of pocket. I don't think they had any idea that the rewards program even existed because all they had to tell me was that they didn't support it and that would have been the end of it. read more

I have to say that typically I love subway and love their sandwiches. However, the Subway Manager in the Newport Maine location need serious training. I ordered and paid for my sandwich on line. When I went to pick up my sandwich it was not there. I was 40 minutes late as I could not leave work as planned. When I arrived to pick up my sandwich it was not there. So I approached the service desk and had to wait for the staff to come out of the back room after saying HELLO..... When the staff member came to the front I kindly said I ordered a sandwich on line and was here to pick it up. I am a bit late my order was supposed to be ready at 12:15. The staff member looked at the slips and said we do not have an order for you. I said, I have a confirmation that I placed my order. She said you need the confirmation so I went to the truck to get it. (I am going to type a shorter version of what happened as it would take a while) I didn't have the confirmation slip so I showed the staff my credit card pending charge for subway of my sandwich purchase. She said she could not honor that as it would have been placed at any subway and even earlier for which I could have already ate the meal. She then called the manager out and the manager said she could not do anything without the confirmation. So I went back to my office 4 miles away and got the confirmation and returned with it. The manager still refused to fill my order as she said I could have already picked it up and now am returning to refill my already picked up order. I assured her I did not pick up my order. The shelf where customers pick up their order is in the lobby so anyone can take anyone's order. I told the Manager the shelf should be behind the counter so peoples orders are not taken by people who do not pay for them. She said it is a corporate decision and she cannot change it. She said this happens 4-6 times a day and she cant replace everyone's meal that do not show up on time to get them. I told her the I too am a manager and if that happened to my place of business 4-6 times a day I would fix it. She said she I was being rude. I told her I did not feel that I was the rude one. I asked her if she was going to make me another sandwich and she said no. So I said then give me my money back then. She credited my credit card for which the purchase was clearly on her orders list. I then proceeded to tell her that was stupid. She not only gave someone my lunch for free but she even gave me back my money for a purchase she said I already picked up. THAT MANAGER SHOULD BE GIVEN INSTRUCTIONS THAT IF THERE IS A PROBLEM SHE SHOULD LOOK FOR WAYS TO FIX IT. I am sure 4-6 people a day that do not get their lunch for meals they already paid for is hurting your franchise in Newport Maine. I appologize for the long message but customer service has become a real problem. When someone pays for their lunch on an online service provided to them for convenience, it should not be a first come first serve to the food someone else paid for. read more
