If you are visiting the New Carrolton, Lanham, Seabrook, Greenbelt, Beltsville area, there is an old restaurant with new energy to visit, or re-visit. Over the years, the Silver Diner has been evolving from comfort food to a more comprehensive and seasonal menu offering - including comfort food - with organic, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free choices. If you are dining in this general, suburban DC area region, do not miss the Silver Diner at most any time of day. They open at 7 am daily and close by 11pm unless you are there on a Friday or Saturday which means they are open until midnight. I've found various restaurants in the cities mentioned that are surprisingly hit-or-miss in terms of food quality, ambience and service. The Silver Diner is not one of them. We went because they advertised a 2-day only $14 sandwich deal on social media. While some of their sandwiches are $9, their two most popular sammies are the $22 crabcake with lobster sauce and the $14 cheesesteak sub. Both of our sandwiches were delicious. I was tentative about the crabcake, but no, it was truly flavorful and the portions were generous. Yes, this crabcake sandwich is every bit worth $22. It came with a delightful lobster sauce that you could dip the toast in. In terms of their other foods. We also really liked the cheesesteak and got a nice, spicy sauce on the side for dipping. Here is a snippet about the meat options from the Silver Diner website: * Grass-fed, grain-finished, antibiotic-free 100% Black Angus Beef * Nitrate-free bacon * Organic Bison * Hormone-free & antibiotic-free meats * Hormone and antibiotic-free chicken tenders * Non-GMO products We experienced a delicious meal in a multi-cultural restaurant with tasty and diverse options. They have approximately 25 local and farms that they work with, including Creekstone Farms for black angus, halal beef and the famed Uptown Bakery for daily bread deliveries. The ice cream is sourced from Oregon's Tillamook Creamery. There is a seasonal menu with maybe 14 new items. This season, those rotating items include: * Beet salad * Tuna Poke Bowl * Chili Crisp Shrimp Bowl * Roasted Mushroom Bowl * Truffled Wagyu Meatball Sub * Truffled Wagyu Meatball Pasta with Angel Hair Pasta * Chipotle Salmon & Shrimp with potatoes, leeks and more veggies For dessert, we had a pecan pie and bread pudding. Again, generous portions. read more

Tried this place on a whim before leaving the area after a work trip. Super fast and friendly service. The restaurant had a nice old-school diner feel. The food came out really fast, and was okay. I wasn't wowed by the food...but it wasn't bad. The price point was okay for what you got. read more

I liked the decor of the place. Located in a little strip mall, my friends and I came here and ordered a range of burgers, pancakes, and omelets. I got the crab cake melt, which came with a lobster bisque to dip it in, fries, and coleslaw. It was interesting having corn in the coleslaw. Even for the price paid ($21.99), portions were large and the sandwich was tasty. I'd like to come back for dessert or a shake. 2026 #11 read more

This is a Classic 50's/60's/70's era Diner located within multiple franchises around the Washington, DC area (also known as DMV: Delaware-Maryland-Virginia)! An experience one should not miss as the menu choices are varied of standard diner dishes with the 24hr flexibility of breakfast served too! Enjoyed a plentiful chicken pot pie classic entree which included a choice of one: soup, chilli, side mixed green or caesar salad. I chose a cup of crab and corn soup while my companion chose the chicken noodle soup. Both were served at a perfect temp and flavorful. Unfortunately, I was completely filled and could not even try nor attempt any of their freshly made and decadent homemade desserts. Don't miss this special eatery and be prepared to enjoy jukebox Jackson 5, Motown, Smokey Robinson as well as early Beatles, Bob Segar, Eagles during your dining therefore leaving you with a full stomach and a smile as you depart. read more

I was in the area for a doctors appointment and the nurse suggested I came here for breakfast. The decorations for this palce was so so cute. Their menu is extensiveeee. I could not decide what to order and was so surprised how many items they have and the diversity of it all. However my experience was okay. I ordered the challah french toast with cofffee. It was okay. My french toast was a little bland. It was good but felt something was missing. The service was my biggest pet peeve. My server was nice, but nowhere to be found when I needed something. At one point, I literally stood up looking around the dining room trying to find them because I was ready to pay but couldn't find them. I would come back for the aesthetic and to try other items with my family, but now I know to expect to be there for an hour waiting to be served. read more

I ate brunch with a colleague this past Sunday. The restaurant was very busy! The server was fairly attentive, though she disappeared at some point while we waiting for the check. I ordered the summer special, Green Goddess Lobster Salad. It was amazing! It's made with summer greens, local goat cheese, berries, radishes, Green Goddess dressing, pistachios and pomegranates. Unfortunately, I ordered before my colleague arrived, and my food arrived AFTER hers. I waiting a solid 25 minutes for a salad. It seemed to be a fluke, but was disappointing when eager to eat the first meal of the day. read more

We recently tried Silver Diner at BWI, and only a few weeks ago realized there was one not too far from our house so we decided to go for an early dinner. Our server was lovely, and the food was so good! We shared the crispy Brussels sprouts, I got a peach soda and my boyfriend got a creamsicle, and then for dinner I got the Philly cheese steak and he got the fish and chips. Our favorite was the Brussels sprouts- they were crispy, and had such a good sauce (that wasn't spicy thank goodness). We both loved our sodas. My cheese steak was really good, but in my opinion far too many onions so next time I'd ask for light onion. He really enjoyed the fish and chips as well, but noted the batter for the fish wasn't the traditional light and fluffy batter. It was different- but good! Also to note- the portion sizes are huge! You'll definitely leave stuffed. We look forward to returning in the near future. I'm glad it's nearby! read more

Great food and service. We were staying in the area and went for dinner. This rivals any of our NJ diners back home and was a pleasant surprise. The meatloaf was incredible good and had a very good portion size. read more

Been awhile, our service was top notch with just the right amount of attention nice and clean we were here just as dinner was starting up had the Cobb salad of which they mix the dressing instead of placing it on the side. Cool with me l chose blue cheese which made me wince which is what good blue cheese dressing is supposed to do as for everything else no complaints. No one comes here expecting the taste buds slapped to the back of their mouth read more

Only thing good about this place is our server Noah. Ordered hash and eggs. Comes with home fries and a biscuit, and a side of grits with cheese. Server asked if we wanted the home fries with onions. You would assume the home fries are cooked with the onion. Nope, deep fried potatoes with a sloppy spoonful of greasy onions dumped on top , like an afterthought. Grits were totally unflavored with 2 square pieces of cheese microwaved on top. Gross!!!! Biscuit sugary and dry. Absolutely no redeeming qualities here. Find somewhere else to get breakfast. read more

I am writing this review after being a regular for a few years. I have had many a fun times at Silver Diner. The service there was always great. The ambiance was retro that will take you back in time. You have your own little jukebox right on your table. The booths were comfy. During my many visits to Silver Diner, I sampled many items off of their menu. Some of my favorites include: chicken pot pie, chicken lemon picatta, pickle-brined fried chicken sandwich, and their milkshakes, just to name a few. All in all, I highly recommend this establishment. read more

Food was ok today. I placed my order online and the pickup time said 12:01. I arrived at the restaurant a few minutes before my pickup time and my food was already sitting waiting for me- which was good. I checked my food out before I left due to having issues here before, everything seemed to be ok. I get home which is less than 5 minutes away, and my food was cold. It wasn't even like warm. It seemed as if it had been sitting h too long and my food lost its quality. Also, I had no plasticware and only 1 syrup but 5 or 6 packs of ketchup. I really keep giving this spot chance after chance but it's always something. read more

I have been eating at this silver diner for years. I'v tried the turkey burger, beyond meat smash burger , chicken noodle soup, the chicken pot pie, and the new crab melt. All were good but the crab cake melt is by far my favorite. I've ordered it numerous times. They give you like a lobster au jus sauce to dip it in and it takes the sandwich to another level. Its usually comes with french fries and coleslaw. I am not even a coleslaw fan but i eat this one every single time! This is my neighborhood go to restaurant when i do not feel like cooking. I love them. read more

Decent service and the food was good. Loved the old school diner look and feel. I ordered the Country-fries steak & eggs and a cup of coffee. The steak & eggs was two generous pieces of breaded steak, with sausage gravy, cage-free Amish eggs, home fries, and a buttermilk biscuit. I had my eggs over medium. Only complaint is they ran out of biscuits and it took about 15-20 mins. I had asked for a little gravy when they brought it out so I would not have to eat it alone but they didn't and I ate it alone with butter. I did get a cup of coffee to go which was nice. read more

I am writing to express my disappointment regarding an order I placed with your restaurant that was not received. I placed my order on June 26, 2026, at approximately 11:44 am. The order number is 44707994682474498, and payment was completed successfully. However, the food was never delivered to me. I also don't like the fact that on your website you claim that you're ordering directly from the restaurant but you 3rd party the delivery of the order through DoorDash which is deceptive and misleading. I ordered directly from your website because I don't trust DoorDash and ultimately my worst fears came true and my food was not delivered. I would appreciate it if you could investigate this matter and provide either a replacement order or a refund as soon as possible. I value good customer service and hope this issue can be resolved promptly. Please contact me at [phone number/email] if you need any additional information. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response. read more

Silver Diner is a staple of our eating out experience. We go back frequently because the menu is unique, the food has always been well prepared, tastes good, freshly prepared, and is locally (regionally) sourced. I've had a number of items from the menu and all have been good, even at different locations. The staff, in my experience, has always been genuinely friendly and interested in me as a customer. I am from NJ, and I will say that while the effort is made to appear as a 'diner' in some of their decor, it is not a typical roadside diner from my home state... and that is not a bad thing. Silver Diner will remain at the top of our options. read more

Kind of a mixed bag, but positive overall. We went in looking for an early dinner, but the waiter looked puzzled as to where he would seat us - even though the restaurant was pretty empty. Our server, Pricilla, made up for our rocky start with her pleasant smile and accommodating demeanor. My daughter started off her meal with a custom banana milkshake, which she loved until she got to the bottom and found it to be a little "chunky". I feel like the menu has changed to more of an upscale diner vibe with local ingredients and contemporary twists on traditional dishes. I liked that change! The smash burger was a smashing success, as not a speck of that burger was left on the plate. The cup of turkey chili was delicious, but lukewarm. I ordered a second cup, as I was warned a single cup would not suffice for a meal. The second cup was delicious, but possibly cooler than the first and warmer in the center? Are you really microwaving each serving of chili? I'm sure Pricilla would have brought be a hot cup, but I did not feel like complaining. Even tepid, it was quite tasty: sweet and spicy as advertised. I would definitely stop in again, when looking for something quick and especially with the new menu. Lots of goodies to try. read more

Food was delicious as usual and service was great! For the first time we didn't have to sit waiting for service. My grandson and I went to try their new menu items. We were happy with the Lamb Shakshuka and crab sandwich melt. Our waiter was Chris and he greeted us with a smile. Shortly after he introduced himself he returned with our drinks and took our orders. Usually, we have to wait a bit for our meals which is ok because it comes out fresh. I wanted something to take out and he suggested that he will order when we're close to being finished so that it's fresh when we leave. We didn't have to wait when we asked for carry out container and the bill and most of all he remembered my carry out order. I was quite surprised by this promptness and how sharp this young man was. Thank You Chris! I was used to seeing other waiters chitchatting around the kitchen and have us waiting but you didn't give me time to look for you. Much appreciated!! read more

Wanted to grab a quick bite and decided to come here, glad we did as everything was good. The inside is exactly like its description on what it is, which is a diner with a little old school vibe. The service was quick and our server was nice and professional. The guava mint ginger ale was surprisingly good and refreshing with the muddled mint inside the drink. The caramel French toast was so filling and flavorful although I couldn't really taste the caramel the French toast alone was just warm delicious and sweet. My son wants to come back as a regular wouldn't mind that being the case they have a bit of everything which is what I like, having options ! read more

Who's keeping this place open still? The portions are trash for your buck AND there is No love put into ANYTHING (food) at this place. Fire the chef at this point or hire my toddler. We stopped by Silver Diner on a Saturday for brunch, and our party of 5 were seated within 10 minutes without a reservation which I found quite impressive. There is a lot of space inside and the booths are styled like a classic diner with jukebox radios that work with a quarter to request selected music to play across the diner. The menu was filled with options. I ordered the Bay Benedict, which was an eggs Benedict but with crab meat and some spinach and corn - so so good! It came with a side of fruits which complemented the dish. I also tried the Lamb merguez shakshuka which was so tasty and had somesmb sausage in the shakshuka sauce with pomegranates and eggs. The portions were also quite generous so I had a little leftover that I took home with me. The service was great.
