I was in the area for a doctors appointment and the nurse suggested I came here for breakfast. The decorations for this palce was so so cute. Their menu is extensiveeee. I could not decide what to order and was so surprised how many items they have and the diversity of it all. However my experience was okay. I ordered the challah french toast with cofffee. It was okay. My french toast was a little bland. It was good but felt something was missing. The service was my biggest pet peeve. My server was nice, but nowhere to be found when I needed something. At one point, I literally stood up looking around the dining room trying to find them because I was ready to pay but couldn't find them. We recently tried Silver Diner at BWI, and only a few weeks ago realized there was one not too far from our house so we decided to go for an early dinner. Our server was lovely, and the food was so good! We shared the crispy Brussels sprouts, I got a peach soda and my boyfriend got a creamsicle, and then for dinner I got the Philly cheese steak and he got the fish and chips. Our favorite was the Brussels sprouts- they were crispy, and had such a good sauce (that wasn't spicy thank goodness). We both loved our sodas. My cheese steak was really good, but in my opinion far too many onions so next time I'd ask for light onion. He really enjoyed the fish and chips as well, but noted the batter for the fish wasn't the traditional light and fluffy batter. It was different- but good! Also to note- the portion sizes are huge! The ambiance was retro that will take you back in time. You have your own little jukebox right on your table. The booths were comfy. I arrived at the restaurant a few minutes before my pickup time and my food was already sitting waiting for me- which was good. I have been eating at this silver diner for years. I'v tried the turkey burger, beyond meat smash burger , chicken noodle soup, the chicken pot pie, and the new crab melt. All were good but the crab cake melt is by far my favorite. I've ordered it numerous times. They give you like a lobster au jus sauce to dip it in and it takes the sandwich to another level. Our server, Pricilla, made up for our rocky start with her pleasant smile and accommodating demeanor. We go back frequently because the menu is unique, the food has always been well prepared, tastes good, freshly prepared, and is locally (regionally) sourced. I've had a number of items from the menu and all have been good, even at different locations. The staff, in my experience, has always been genuinely friendly and interested in me as a customer. I am from NJ, and I will say that while the effort is made to appear as a 'diner' in some of their decor, it is not a typical roadside diner from my home state... and that is not a bad thing. The service was quick and our server was nice and professional. The guava mint ginger ale was surprisingly good and refreshing with the muddled mint inside the drink. We stopped by Silver Diner on a Saturday for brunch, and our party of 5 were seated within 10 minutes without a reservation which I found quite impressive. There is a lot of space inside and the booths are styled like a classic diner with jukebox radios that work with a quarter to request selected music to play across the diner. The menu was filled with options. I ordered the Bay Benedict, which was an eggs Benedict but with crab meat and some spinach and corn - so so good! It came with a side of fruits which complemented the dish. I also tried the Lamb merguez shakshuka which was so tasty and had somesmb sausage in the shakshuka sauce with pomegranates and eggs. The portions were also quite generous so I had a little leftover that I took home with me. The service was great. Easily my favorite diner and location! The menu has so many options without being overwhelming, and no matter what kind of diet I'm on (or not on), there's always something great to eat. I'd like to mention up front that I'm a "card carrying" Silver Diner member and this isn't the first time my wife and I have eaten at their location in Greenbelt, MD. We both like the menu selection and I like Retro feel to the place, especially the miniature juke boxes at every booth. On this particular occasion, we opted to go early on the July 4th Holiday, arriving before 9:00am to beat the Out-of-Towners who use this as a pit stop. Typically, I like something that comes with pancakes, but needing to watch my carb count, I went with a more traditional Jack Cheddar Omelette and my wife opted to go "off script" and order something she said "she knew they will make it for her even though it isn't on the menu as written"; she wanted the Huevos Rancheros, but instead of coming with Bison - she wanted to have it made with mixed vegetables. When her order came out from the kitchen, they had made it wrong, with Bison meat and vegetables on the side. We informed our waitress of the mistake and they quickly remade her order. I felt a little guilty eating while she waited on her food, but she insisted that I not let my food get cold. Beyond that initial snafu, my wife was pleased with her food, and my order was fine, although next time I think I might stick with regular pork sausage because the alternative chicken sausage patties might have been healthier for me, but really didn't have as much flavor as traditional sausage would have had. Our waitress, who had a penchant for saying "I got you" did a good job of keeping my cup of coffee topped off, which I always appreciate, and our portions (serving sizes) were good - so we both felt well fed. I presented my Silver Diner card at the end of the meal, which I presume earns me points for later use, and gave our waitress a 20% tip before we left. We'll be back! read more
