Hi, I currently work at this location and the food is fantastic, but the customer service I received this morning was upsetting. I walked in and immediately was greeted with a rude comment saying "if you think you're about to order, you're not." I know that I am a familiar face but I'm not on the clock and would like to be treated as a customer while I'm off. Terrible customer service. This happened TWICE! I work at a lab where we have breakfast catered and needed for an 8 AM breakfast. The first time, I called the week prior to place my pickup order because EZcater's website doesn't allow pickup before 8:30. I called the week before and asked if we can still place the order and pick it up at 7:30 AM. The employee put me on hold to check with their manager. The manager ok'd it and said they had it down. The morning of the event, I go to the location and they don't have the order. They tried to say I probably ordered at another location until I showed them the call log. The general manager was who I spoke to when I was trying to pick it up. Then she apologized and that they'd make the order right then and there. I understood at the time because mistakes happen. However, this morning, was the SECOND time this has happened. Mind you I called SEP 29th and spoke to and placed the order directly with a MANAGER and he confirmed it! I even told him about what happened last time! Guess what happens when I go pick it up this morning? THEY DONT HAVE ANY RECORD OF THE ORDER! Unfortunately, as much as my job likes SD, we will be taking our catering elsewhere. Orders were confirmed. Having it happen once is a mistake, but twice is crazy. I still get a bit of cognitive dissonance from my memories of the original Silver Diner. I was reminiscing about it as they played themes from old TV shows. But fresh food mindfully cooked really hits the spot, and caramelized onion and crimini really do work with tender calf liver. And one thing that hasn't changed is the very cordial service. I initially thought the corned beef hash was too salty (Which it was) but then I took it home and scrambled it with some eggs and cheese and it gave me Waffle House vibes and I will make sure to get corned beef hash to go every time! I want to start off that I have eaten at this Silver Diner many a time. The service was excellent. The food was very disappointing. Got there at 11:00 am and wanted to order lunch. They had a new "smashburger", I forget the technical name they called it but liked the idea of getting a smashburger. When it was delivered, it was a patty, I would guess a frozen patty. It was bland, even with the special dressing it had. The bun fell apart within 2 bites. Lastly, the fries were warm/cold. It seems like their food quality has been going down the past year or so. Upon entering. You're greeted and asked which table you would like to sit at which is a plus. The ventilation is very good as well as the amount of fresh flowing cool air circulating. You could easily tell the menus are sanitized because of the clean feeling of it as well as a lack of visible fingerprints on it which is a major plus since the menus are sanitized which stops the spread of germs. A few times I've been here I always asked what's the most popular item on the menu and the employees were always friendly in replying with the answer. Also after leaving they say thanks for coming and have a good day which shows dedication in the customer service department. The food is amazing especially in terms of portion sizes. I usually always get the steak omelette and it's usually always loaded with meat and good tasting real cheese. Always tasted fresh & hot. The water tasted highly filtered which is another plus. As well as the cups looked very clean and there were also no visible fingerprints on them which indicates they're actually SANITIZING the cups here and not just soaking them in hot water like some places do these days. The plates & silverware felt high quality. The tables were fully stocked with condiments and a mini jukebox which added authenticity to the diner experience. The general crowd is mainly middle class. Mainly adults. Barely any kids really. Very highly mature. The noise level was normal for a diner environment. Calm & relaxed. Poor service, long wait times once you get sit. We ordered a milk shake and it took 20 mins. That's a little ridiculous. We had empty drinks and the waitress not once asked if we wanted a refill or anything. Kept on forgetting simple things that we added to the order. I believe her name was Talia . This was my first time trying out this chain. Overall, it was good but pretty standard and a bit pricey for average breakfast options. The pancakes aren't buttermilk pancakes, they're pretty standard though. Reminiscent of McDonald's pancakes flavor and texture-wise. The eggs were good! White American cheese, scrambled perfectly. The bacon was only okay, thin cut for reference. My sister had the biscuit, she was upset no jam came with (we got carry out) but otherwise enjoyed it! I was finally able to try Silver Diner after few attempts! They are always packed and busy especially for weekend brunch. I sat at the bar and ordered seafood egg Benedict and passion fruit mimosa, both are amazingly good especially the egg benedict! It tasted so fresh, they are living up to their farm to table tagline. The huge salad had kale, beets, squash, Brussels sprouts, red peppers, basil, rocket greens, sunflower seeds, pecans, dried apricots with champagne vinaigrette. I opted to add chicken to it which while kicked it up a notch, I quickly realized that I easily could've done without the chicken because the portion was already way too much to handle!! Leaving me with tons of leftovers, leftovers that I ended finishing 1hr ago at the office. That's how delish it was that it didn't even make it home for dinner!! Everyone enjoyed their varied food selections, but the highlight and delight of the visit was our very attentive and excellent server, Jades O. The appetizers were brought to the table well before the food and every one of the 6 entrees were delivered within 5 minutes or less of the first "delivery." No waiting 10 or 15 minutes for everyone to get their food. Also, she checked back frequently and refilled water without asking. Food is great! Service dining in is usually great! Carry out and delivery are terrible. Although you are given the option to decline plastic utensils, they always throw them in anyway. 99% of the time something is missing from every delivery order, including one time one of our entrees was not in the bag. Delivery is super slow - take whatever the app tells you and expect it to be much much longer. Hot items will be cold when they arrive. Maybe it's just the Greenbelt location that struggles so badly with carry out and delivery? I sure hope management sees this review and does something to improve their services. read more
