Then, we had some more time to kill, so we decided to grab some lunch before heading to the airport. We had done very well listening to our local friends so far this trip, so we asked them for one more recommendation. They recommended this place. And thank goodness they did. Ambiance was super cool. A lowkey location in a strip mall, the inside struck me like a nice, hippy couple decorated it. It was pretty chill vibes, as the kids say. Each member of the hippy couple brought their ethnic background to the table here, one Italian and one Portuguese. Pretty neat combination. They were very nice folks. Very good customer service. There are only two of them, though, so if there's a line, prepare to be in for a wait. I didn't mind, since our goal was to kill time anyway. Also, a side note, the inside of the store was very hot the day we came, so we opted to order and eat outside. There are a couple of tables and chairs out there, thankfully. As for the food, I forget exactly what we ordered, but I'm like 80% sure that I ordered the Chourico & Peppers (Spicy, smoked Portuguese sausage, slow cooked with ripe tomatoes, fresh bell peppers and yellow onions). Excellent sandwich. A nice, hearty, crispy, soft baguette stuffed with the meat concoction. And the meat was very flavorful. Very smoky sausage, which might have been just too heavy on its own, but it had some help from the peppers and onions. Really good stuff. I also got to try an Italian sandwich. I'm not sure which one at all. It was a special written on the board, so I can't find it on their regular menu, but it was also good. Fresh, simple ingredients. Same, delicious bread. Solid. But I would choose the Portuguese options every time, though, since that's a rarer cuisine in this country. Overall, I'm so glad we stopped here. I love supporting small business, I love trying new things, and I love the quaint little town of Bigfork, MT.

Amazingly soft bread, simple but delicious ingredients. Cons: It is very hot inside. I recommend eating outside. The service is good, but also slow, since it's just the two of them, so don't show up in a hurry. Tips: We got an Italian and a Portuguese sandwich, and enjoyed them both! You can't really go wrong ordering anything here.

So we've been to Grateful Bread many times. Every, single, time, we leave disappointed, not in the food but in the service and the wait. The food is okay. Honestly, because of how long you have to wait to get it, I'd expect something out of this world, but it comes out as run of the mill eats. At this point, we know what to expect when we go in. What GB has going for it, is that there aren't a lot of options in town. Last week we went in before hitting up Harvest Foods, saw that there were just three tables of people and thought, ok, let's give it a shot, surely we won't have to wait TOO long. We were short on time so we ordered two Avocados toasts, one with bacon. That's it. With only three other tables in the house, it took 30 minutes. As we sat there, about 6 more tables came in. With ONE waitress. With also whom I can presume is the owner as I've seen her time and time again, also bringing out food, there was absolutely no hussle. Listen, I worked in food service for a decade. When I worked, I moved. People were waiting to have their order taken. The bell would ring that food was ready and it would sit there. The owner surely could have been taking orders too. Heck, you could even give the tips to the waitress! Maybe there is a worker shortage in Big Fork, I don't know. But girl (owner), you gotta be hustlin' to make up for it. And no offense to the waitress but girl, you too. Or hire a busser, someone to bring out food and cleanup, ring people up. In any case, it's always this way. We hadn't been in a few years and gave it a shot again. As we were walking out, I said "well that wasn't THAT bad", as in having to wait that long for food and watching people just sit there in silence wait for the waitress and then their food is a good thing. Also, not to be petty, but as a deadhead, I take a minor offense to you using the name and not being vibin'.

For Flathead I had their Centennial IPA which I really liked a lot. I can get burned out on IPA'S pretty easily as they are everywhere but this summer (summer of 2025) I have had a hankering for IPA'S off and on. The Centennial proves to be a refreshing one for me the few times I have had it and firs the bill quite well for that occasional IPA hankering I've been having. Flavor highlights in this beer are hoppy, malty, floral and sweet (naturally sweet tasting). It's a very well balanced IPA with these features. The beer is also smooth in body. I look forward to returning as Steve and I are bound to pass through the area again but more for the purpose of sightseeing on that trip.

Having never been there before I wasn't sure what kind of coffee drinks were available, but they had a decent selection so I ordered an iced caramel coffee (bonus in my book). We ordered a cinnamon roll to start and share, then our main plates. We received the roll before my coffee even though I ordered the drink first; probably because the barista at wasn't stationary position and was taking other orders. It was then that things slowed down a bit after a large table was seated. Once we received our food we were over-all happy with everything. Though my husband was disappointed in the potatoes O'Brien since the onion and peppers were just added to the top of the regular breakfast potatoes instead of frying them together. It's welcoming, charming and ready to serve you a lot of local love. The country fried steak has to be the most delicious have ever had. The steak is very generously portioned and is cuddled up with a blanket of sausage gravy that simply hits different. The eggs benny were very yummy too. I didn't get to have much of it since my partner plowed through the dish but the hollandaise was silky and creamy. The butter seeping into the biscuit just made it an all-star dish. The biscuits here are CRAZY GOOD. I think all of the baked goods are amazing. We came here daily during our trip (which we never double dip on a trip!). Cinnamon rolls are a sweet tooth delight. I wish I could take a dozen home with me so I can make the dish last just as long as the memories.. lol I would certainly come back and will do my best to keep it a secret so the locals can dine in peace.
