I recommend Suburban Propane so very highly! I have a cabin on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe for 19 years now. I had a propane supplier that was taken over by Amerigas several years ago. This winter AmeriGas left my home in a dangerous situation when they let my propane tank run dry. Their solution was to fill and lock my propane tank, that I own my I add, without my authorization! Their customer service department leaves you with no answers and no service. I dealt with this joke of a company for two months and they did nothing to help me. So I reached out to Suburban Propane in Sparks, Nevada. My sister-in-law highly recommend them and uses them. In less than a week they got out there, unlocked my tank and got propane back to my home. Worst propane company I've ever used. I ran out of propane multiple times due to suburban not showing up to fill my tank. After enough of that I've purchased my own tank. Suburbans propane tank has been sitting in front of my house for 3 months. I've told them multiple times to come get there tank to no avail. read more

Ordered, and paid for a delivery on Monday the 16th. I had 15% left and they promised a delivery within 7 days. By the following Wednesday I had to make my first call, they promised a delivery by Friday and told me I was never put on the schedule. Now I'm under 5% and Friday had come and gone so I'm forced to call again. After numerous call, I lost track of how many, I finally got a delivery. I kept getting the run-a-round from the service center and had to listen to them whine about how short handed they were. That's a you problem not a me problem. If you couldn't fill the order you should not have sold the product. read more

I have nothing but good things to say about Suburban Propane. We have had a cabin on the west shore of Lake Tahoe for 24 years. We started with the the Propane Co that the previous owners had used, that company was acquired by a large company, AmeriGas. We stayed with them until we noticed that they were no longer communicating with people, not responding to emails, and their prices were completely off the hook high. Friends had changed to Suburban and were happy so I did the same. Their pricing is fair, but the BEST part for me is the amazing personal communication! This winter has been crazy stormy and the amount of snow in our area has been the most I have seen in quite some time. This company has far exceeded my expectations when helping us hit a window of good weather to re-fuel and explaining what needed to happen to get to our tank. Currently I am sitting in my house freezing because they failed to fix a leak, then sent a tech to fix the leak without means to do so... and have not followed up. This company is garbage. I have had terrible customer service, terrible emergency services and terrible accountability. They failed to show up on our scheduled day 2/3 of the time, they required me to pre-pay and overcharged me by $150 which I had to call to have refunded, I had a leak and they failed to fix it when they claimed to and are now making me pay to refill my tank to "fix it", they sent a RUDE technician out to fix my empty tank with a truck that had no propane, they charged me random fees on days that I didn't receive service... oh and they charge a $15-40 fee per visit charge that they claim is mandated... long story short, I spent hours on the phone trying to fix their issues and felt like I had to micromanage my account so I didn't end up paying for services I didn't receive. I switched to Hunt and Sons and they have no such fees, cheaper rates and way better customer service. read more

Switched to Hunt and sons propane to get better service and pricing. Suburban has has been asked multiple times to remove their tank and they respond that they will take care of it, but haven't yet. They continue to try and charge a rental fee fir the tank that they were supposed to remove. With a call they reverse the fee and say they will be out to remove the tank and then don't follow through. I'm so much happier with Hunt and sons; they know how to take care of their customers. read more

I think that Suburban is way way to expensive, $3.90 a gallon and I am looking for another company because of this reason. BUT, the customer service is Fantastic! Michelle that works there has been working with me for along time to help me as my propane bill is close to $1,000 (for three months and I live in a 700 foot mobile home!). Not sure who delivers to the N. Carson City area but this is the 2nd time the driver has come through our park at 30 miles per hour! I've called your office the first time but that obviously did no good!!! If a child or older person or pet steps out in front of him and he swerves to miss them he is going to crash into multiple rvs and that will be devastating! Please advise your drivers that when the speed limit states 5 miles per hour there is a reason!!!! read more

The people in the office are nice, and their pricing is generally the lowest in the area, but when you try to call the local office you usually get routed to someone 2000 miles away, who can't tell you pricing and are generally just a waste of time (unless you want to leave a message and get called back the next day). read more

RIP OFF! They raised the price/gallon about $2 with no notice, which almost doubled our bill. I checked the average price around town and it was $3.53/gal. They charged us $5.34/gal. after initially charging us the average price. When I called to ask why they were so far above the average around town, the lady offered to reduce our bill by 10%. Ridiculous! Check with other companies! read more

Absolutely ridiculous! Our bill for the past year has been $70 a month, then out of nowhere we get a bill saying we owe them almost $ 2000... They say we used $465 a month worth of propane over the past 4 months. How many companies will let you short pay almost $ 300 a month and not send a letter or give you a call? Yesterday I changed propane companies. I had been with the previous company for 47 years and for the last five years they treated me horribly. They kept staff for a minimum length of time, most of the time had no manager and never answered their phones. I switched to Sububan Yesterday and was so pleasantly surprised at how well I was treated. I called on Friday, spoke to Michelle the office manager who was so gracious and helpful. On Monday, Brady, the tech was here, removed the old tank and put in the new one. Brady took his time checking for any leaks, etc. so that when he left I knew everything was safe. iBrady is an Army vet and said he loved working for Suburban, as a matter of fact it is the best job he has ever had. That says a lot about how a company treats its employees. They have different programs to sign up for. I chose the keep fill, but they have budget programs as well. It was such a pleasure dealing with the company, I felt I had to spread the word!!! read more

Noticing all of the low reviews for this establishment, I know the reasoning behind those low scores is not the hard working people whom I deal with weekly. I am referring driver named Gary. What a great guy he is whom is genuinely concerned about our business. He goes out of his way to make sure all my tanks are full and maintained so they work properly. Recently I have been having some issues with the valve stems on the tanks coupling with my forklifts. Normal wear and tear. I need the tanks we lease from Suburban Propane to be operational otherwise, what good are they? I had my office people call their office people more than once more than once. Gary is the guy who went out of his way, swinging by late in the day to fix the tanks because I cannot do it. Those tanks belong to Suburban Propane and I am there customer. Thanks Gary for keeping my our tanks operational. Gary gives top level customer service, he is dependable and courteous. Thank you. read more

Suburban Propane abuses seniors, they are one of the lowest life companies I have had as a vendor... ith the going rate of Propane in the $2.00-$2.50 range, they have been gouging the Seniors in our community for as high as $4.40g this winter, they have been running their trucks around keeping the tanks full so that these poor customers cannot change to reasonably priced companies. Shameful practice. Currently they are charging more then double the rate of their competitors. Dont ever do business with this company or people. They are deceitful, and they do not keep their word. They will promise to sell you a rental tank and then go back on their word when you are off contract and jack the rates, so you cannot switch suppliers until you get rid of their tank off your rpoperty. With one citizen who had a broken pipe they kept coming and filling the tank even though they knew it was leaking, what a racket these guys run. They are the worst kind of people and business. I was warned not to use them because they are deceitful and scheming and should have listened. Note that they specialize in DE-REGULATED markets, this means where the government doesnt control them from gouging and using awful business practices to take advantage of people, unlike most utilities. read more
