I use Suburban Propane in Paso Robles. In the winter they let my tank go to 0. I'm on auto fill, do could not request fill online. All my calls were responded to by saying Tuesday. They didn't clarify that it was like 3 Tuesdays down the line. Then, their online payment system won't accept ACH same day or over a weekend, so it picked a date one MONTH plus one day later. Of course, I get threatened with tank lock and shut off for not paying, plus a late fee. Hey folks, get your delivery and payment options together! Nightmare stress! read more

Those who know me KNOW I don't hand out FIVE Star ratings regularly or easily. The service has to be outstanding all the way across the board before I will stand behind a 5 Star rating. I recently moved to Paso Robles from the Bay Area. Moving to the country has been an eye opener for sure. From internet services to propane services there were many challenges to say the least. It was when I started to research which company I was going to use as a propane provider that I felt like I had actually made a horrible mistake in my choice of residential areas. I began my search by looking at Yelp ratings of multiple propane providers in the area. When I got to Central Coast propane I was dumb founded by the lack of knowledge, customer service, and attitude towards a potential new client. After a while on the phone asking the typical questions of start up fees, propane cost per gallon, delivery schedules, all relative questions when one is in the decision-making-process of the relationship. I have to say I was so very disappointed with the manner in which I was treated, and how the person talked to me, it was mind boggling. I had to remind myself on a number of occassions just who the customer was. I decided to end the conversation with Central Coast with a, "I will get back to you," comment to get off the phone and get some relief of stress. I then decided to call Suburban Propane to get a comparative analysis study on rates. Imagine my surprise when the cost was half per gallon. Yes, it is a 'first tank' drop promotion (which Central Coast didn't even offer), and there will be gradual increases in cost. However, their highest cost is lower than Central Coasts starting cost. Not to mention the higher tier is locked in until 12/31/2018. That is a huge comparative analysis differentiation in my estimation. Enter Suburban Propane's Kevin - SUPER installer! Made the transition of removing Central Coast tank to installing Suburban tank smooth and easy. All equipment checked and double checked. All appliances on propane were checked and double checked. He even put a cap on the dryer line that is not in use at this time but valve is easily accessible. Great catch there! Kevin even went above and beyond giving me some suggestions on what could be done to repair ceiling damage in the house. Who takes their time to do that? Well, Suburban's Kevin does! Suburban will have my undieing loyalty for the duration of my residence in Paso Robles - no matter how long or short it may be. Thank you, Suburban, and installer Kevin for your outstanding customer service that has restored my faith in humanity to actually give a damn about their customer. Suburban's transparency is well appreciated having given me all the cost analysis information, UPFRONT, without me having to drag information out of them. Well done! read more

What a petty, shady company. When I first bought my house they tried to charge me, illegally, for propane that was already paid for and in my tank. This was a few years back. To continue how petty and shady this company is, after I paid my last bill in full, they sent me another bill for one dollar and thirty four cents. That's right, they couldn't eat the one hundred and thirty four pennies that they didn't charge me, apparently, the first time. I sent them two dollars and asked for them to send me my change ... which they didn't. I feel I deserve for them to send me a check since I paid more than they asked, despite the fact that they shouldn't have sent the second bill, as I did, again, pay my bill in full. By scamming people, like they did with me, even though it wasn't much, it still adds up. The fact that they couldn't bother to send me my change really speaks volumes as to how petty and shady the people they employ are. If you're looking for propane for your house, or other propane needs, I'd very much recommend one of the other, more reputable and honest companies in the area. Make sure you get all your paperwork and pricing in writing. They tried to change the price on me before the "promotional pricing" was supposed to expire. Was an absolute nightmare to get anything resolved, the only good this was that when I ordered propane it showed up when they said it was going to. read more

I switched to wild horse propane after doing a little price shopping. Suburban is a rip off. On top on that I called to have their leased tank picked up, they told me could take up to a month to pick it up. two months went by so i called again. They are very apologetic but it's been over three months now and their tank is still sitting in my driveway. How poor is the service that they can't pick up a there own tank. I'm no expert but that seems like abandon property to me. I'm moving the tank as far back on my property as possible. Come get it I've been gracious enough to give them this long and it's an eyesore. read more

These guys have very strange hours which don't match what yelp says are their hours. So much that I call every time before I come in just to make sure. And sure enough today they say the will be closed from 3-3:30 for business meeting. So I rush over to make sure I make it prior to 3 and they locked the doors before 3. If it's not really 3-3:30 then say 2:45-3:45 or something. Don't jerk your customers around. Respect others time. This is ridiculous. read more

The customer service at Suburban Propane is unequaled. The office support staff is phenomenal and Phil the Manager is absolutely awesome. We are small propane users but Phil treats us like we are his largest customers. And, there pricing is the lowest I've seen in our county. read more

Let me start off by saying I am a residential customer and have had no issues. Thinking I wanted to continue giving them business I took two portable tanks to be filled. I was told that no one was available but they would be filled by the next day. 24 hrs later I called and they were still not filled. Two trips and empty tanks I picked them up and too them to VP station on Spring where they were filled in 5 minutes. read more

I been a Suburban customer for 10 plus years and have recently changed to a different supplier. Last summer the driver showed up to fill my tank and I was presented with the bill showing me I was paying $4 plus per gallon. I said to the driver $4 a gallon is kinda high, especially in the middle of summer. He says "Ok, let me call the office and see what I can do. He does and they drop the price almost a dollar a gallon on the bill. Why did not they give me the lower price per gallon to begin with? So when the new supplier came out to put the new tank in they did a pressure test and found a leak in the shut off valve to my furnace. Apparently, Suburban never pressure tested at the lines coming into the house or any of the appliances. I just called Suburban to come and pick up their tank and was informed there is a $95 charge for picking up the tank. This company gets you as a customer with a low introductory rate and then once the the tank gets installed they can charge you what ever they want. Seem like there is no limit to what they can charge you. What a rip off. read more

My review of this company is a generous two stars, only because of the friendly employees that didnt have an actual hand in the multiple screw ups at the propane site. My eight day experience with them was a true mess that cost me unnecessary money and a very cold and miserable week. No only are they higher priced than a gas station 20 miles north of Paso Robles on the south side of the 101 I waited all day Sunday to get propane on Monday , the only produce they sell and there was no one there to pump it ,thanks a lot , now all my frozen food was ruined read more

They are knowledgeable and capable. The problem is they like to charge you fees and have no structure to the fees. When I cancelled my service I had 40% left in my tank, $300 worth of fuel. They charged me $150 for the pick-up fee and restocking fee. There is no limit to what they can charge you. Beware. read more

I have been a customer of Suburban Propane for over 15 years. Nicole Clarey has always given excellent customer care. She has excellent skills in being very polite and caring. I recently had to close my account because I went solar and I hated to because I felt that I was losing an old friend. The delivery men were also as equally nice. I am the Mother of Terrie P., and was appalled when she called me to tell me the treatment she had been receiving from this company... To prepare for the coming cold weather, she called Suburban Propane to fill her tank... They came out and told her she had a leak and needed a Plummer, this continued for 3 different times, always the same thing... she had the Plummer come 3 different times at a cost of $85 a shot... Finally the Plummer called the company and told them there was no leak, which after the Plummer called them they admitted... In the meantime, my Daughter went a whole week with no heat, no showers, no cooking or clean clothes... It was unfortunate her husband was out of town and she was a woman trying to deal with the problem... In my experience Companies just love to treat women poorly, and I guess this is one of them... I am encouraging her to take them to small claims court for all the unnecessary expenses she is having to pay now because of this company ... OH, and they never even bothered to call her and apologize... She ended up calling another company and getting propane the same day after a week of misery... read more
