If you like being insulted, talked down to and accused of not being able to read, this the place for you. In the store, I made a comment about store price being quoted is a much higher price then on their web page. Right away I was accused of not being able to read. At that point I left the store and went to Home Depot and paid what the web page listed. NEVER NEVER NEVER will I go back to Rental Depot. They ARE NOT TRAINED HOW TO TALK TO CUSTOMERS. I have been renting equipment from Rental Depot since they opened. Everything from Bobcat bucket loaders and backhoes; log splitters; chippers; jack hammers, you name it. I have always been treated respectfully and with consideration of any questions or concerns. Staff are awesome and knowledgeable. We called on a Friday for a last-minute Saturday rental of a gasoline-powered hydraulic log splitter. We picked it up first thing Saturday morning, unsure if we would be able to meet our original deadline of a four-hour rental. Staff told us they were closed on Sundays, but for a small extra charge, we could return it Monday morning. Turned out the job we had was way bigger than we thought, and instead of a few hours of splitting, we ended up using the splitter for two solid days. The staff was helpful and friendly. They hooked the splitter up to our truck for us and also loaned us a hitch since ours was too big. They showed us how to operate the equipment, and when we returned the machine they unhitched it for us. I know these folks have gotten mixed reviews from other customers, but our experience was positive, and the staff was friendlier than other local equipment rental places we've used in the past. read more

Came in to rent a fridge dolly & Dan didn't look at what they charged him I said you don't need to pay for Damage waiver insurance to rent a dolly for an hour. They charged you $2.85 for this on a $20.00 rental Upon returning it Dan went it to ask for a refund and the guy admitted it was not required but would not refund the overcharge Watch out for this unnecessary fee that is just adding to their profits read more

I like this place I come here when I need to rent something so it's a solid 3 they got problems but they're also pretty amazing too so there's that this particular time I went last Saturday to rent chainsaw and I walked in at 8 and the bearded guy didn't greet me at all and I said hey you got any chainsaws left to rent and he said and I quote these exact words I have no idea I just got here and then he just walked away I spent the next five minutes just standing there in the store area waiting for someone to show up and finally someone did and then there were about 10 other people had walked in obviously they rent their all the time because they felt comfortable just to walk in back to the garage and I am at the counter obviously first. so I put my order in paid for my chainsaw and then got my receipt and went into the back and there's bearded guy again who snatches the receipt out of my hand without saying anything quite aggressively and says chainsaw huh then precedes to pull a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket put one in his mouth and light it in that garage that's full of gas cans and then he's going to start this chainsaw for me to show me that it works. Then he handed me a gas can for my chainsaw gas can still smoking I get home and later that day I decide to start that puppy up and get to work it took me about a half an hour to get it started to include watching how to start said thing on YouTube I was able to cut three limbs before it just would not start again the screws on the side started coming loose as it was sawing so I tried to finger tighten those down and it was just like useless after So when I turned returned it on Monday at one of the gentleman checking me and was very kind and he apologized refunded my entire ticket and then another guy came back and said hey did you tighten up the chain with the tensioner or something like that. I was like brother I don't even know those words you speak I'm a psychologist not like a Hands-On evil genius real man type. anyway that's why I give them a solid 3 and not roast them with the one and not give them a Star-Spangled five because sometimes they're good sometimes they're not I'll still go here read more

Horrible service to say the least when you rent a pressure washer and it pours more water out the hose joints than the nozzle. Used for under an hour told the guys outside they say "wow"it's got a new hose lol repeated the issue to the man inside he did the text book smile and sorry. Needed a chipper for a day. They were able to accomodate the dates I needed to rent. When I arrived, they had a trailer hitch I could borrow since mine was the wrong size. They also had a trailer light adapter that coverted my old truck remote light access to one that matched the chipper. Top notch customer service. read more

I rented a rototiller from this company. The machine assigned to me wasn't able to be found. They found an equivalent model and hooked me up and set me on my way. 4 hrs in the something broke, the right side digging part came off, and I wasn't on rock or concrete just dirt. I stoped and spent 15 minutes trying to fix it. I realized the bolt that holds the spinning tool to main machine was not even put through the guide holes. That moment I realized they sent me out with a partially assembled machine that could have injured someone. I strap it back on the trailer to take back to them for help. and then called to bring it back. I was so caught up working I didn't call until 4:58 they close at 5 and I heard a click then a hang up, I called back one more time but still couldn't get through or leave a message. When I brought the machine back they were not sympathetic with the fact they gave me bad equipment I requested to be charged for the 4 hrs I could use it but they refused but stated if I need to rent again to finish he'd cut me a deal. I've been coming here for years and every time I do business with them, it's always a good experience! They are very attentive, helpful, cheerful and kind. You leave there thinking, "wow, they are really awesome people!" I've never had a issue with them not having something in stock - if they don't have it in this store, they'll get it from the SLO store.
