A grea representative for your company. Courteous and smartly dressed in pressed uniform . He was very helpful explaining the settings . Give hm a raise . He will advance in the field he crosses. I was a customer for almost 20 years (I was with CenTex who were acquired by Suburban). After the acquisition, we ran out of gas AT LEAST once a year. Every time I requested an emergency fill I was told we were on the schedule for the next week. And each time I asked that the algorithm be updated to come a week earlier. It should be noted that we had an agreement that they could add gas whenever they wanted. They could generate Billings whenever they wanted. Yet they didn't deliver and let us run out of gas. Suburban Propane was our MVP of the 2021 winter blizzard!!!!! We are on the autofill plan and our guy came a couple days before the big winter storm and topped us off. We didn't even need to call them. He really saved the day! Over a year ago, in late 2019, when we were looking around for a propane supplier, we saw other companies had higher ratings and they turned out to be disasters. They never came and were unfriendly. Suburban Propane came through for us then as well. We were beyond thrilled then - and now, we are ecstatic. Do not believe the low rating haters!!! We found Suburban Propane prices to be reasonable, although some advertise lower prices. My recommendation: Beware of someone else who might offer lower prices. Because super cheap propane is worthless if it isn't in your tank when you need it! My wife and I wish we could give Suburban Propane 10 starts! Really. Meant to update this a long time but anyway here we are. In case this is helpful for anyone else in a similar situation, the ONLY way I was able to get this company to come pick up their propane tank that sat in my driveway for weeks, if not months, was to complain the Texas Railroad Commission. The state agency relates these propane companies and they were a great help and eager to jump in and get after this company. If I didn't involve them it wouldn't surprise me if the tank was still sitting here two years later. Seriously, one of the worst companies and customer service I've ever encountered. read more

There is not much I can add to what several other reviewers have already said. In fact, I'm grateful that they articulate the problems with Suburban Propane so well as it saves me having to write it all out. Please note that I started with Suburban when I moved into my home in August 2015. From that time until 2018, I had no problems with Suburban. I was aware that their prices were higher than their competitors, but I was new to using propane and for the first 2 years of using them, I leased my home and I had no other option as I was not the homeowner. Their customer service was good and it felt like a small family run business. Evidently sometime in 2017, Suburban was bought by someone else or new management came in, replaced all of the employees and the entire culture of the company changed. They became difficult to work with, demanding and rude, and like others said, refused delivery on one of the coldest nights in the year unless I paid my entire balance in full plus a $195 additional charge. Mind you, I was on a monthly payment plan designed to spread payments throughout the year such as to make each month more affordable. I was not behind on payments nor had I ever been. I quickly learned that I could easily live without propane and that space heaters could do the same job at a fraction of the price, so I suppose there is a silver lining. Ultimately, I cancelled my service with Suburban and I told them to come pick up their tank. Here's the clincher. They sent me a bill for both a renewal of my yearly rental fee for the tank AND for a fee to pick up the tank-THEIR tank. Almost laughable. I pointed out the ridiculousness of these charges and they removed the yearly rental fee. They refused to remove the pick up fee, however. My situation is almost an amalgam of that of the other reviewers, Craig D, C.M., William S. (really good detailed account of their "budget pay" plan and this description "Suburban Propane is staffed by a bunch of people who have no idea what they are doing and are not accountable in the least. They are deeply frustrating with little accountability and they will do very little to make up for their frequent mistakes that cost you money."), Mark D., Joe W., and Jake B. The employees are rude, the propane charges are higher than competitors. They have a set delivery schedule and won't work with you to get you a fill before you run out. They want $195 extra to get it to you before 7 days which is completely outrageous. My advice is buy from someone else. read more

I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. DO NOT rent a propane tank from them....If you do, the price per gallon for gas is almost double for "service of your tank - Ha". I own multiple homes. Some serviced by Suburban Propane, some by Sharp Propane. Suburban made so many billing errors, and de-prioritized me (except when up-selling me), that I asked them to remove my tank and end service at one property. Suburban instead left me storing their tank for weeks! Feels retaliatory to me. In my mind, the scum of the earth are defined by a handful of folks on North Lamar boulevard. I even emailed CEO Michael Stivala (got zero reply or reaction). Sharp Propane has done a great job for me for years, and I love them. I'll update this as things evolve. read more

Suburban Propane seriously sucks. Here are the reasons: Their propane costs way more than their competitors (it's over $1 per gallon higher). If you have a tank that they own you can only use them despite the fact in 5 years you pay way more than the cost of purchasing the tank. Their budget pay system is supposed to help you but it doesn't. I noticed that my payment didn't seem like it was in line with what was owed due to a cold winter. I contacted Suburban Propane about this and they assured me they make an adjustment quarterly to accommodate for that. They have a "settle up" month which concerned me as I didn't want to have a mammoth bill. I put down a bigger payment to stay on top of it. The quarter ends with them and our payment stayed the same. I called them and asked why it hadn't changed and they didn't know. I started paying 3.5x my normal bill to them to stay on top of it. I was assured that would make my style up payment reasonable. I ended up having a $500 payment due. This is everything I tried to avoid. Oh, and they were supposed to put me on their pre-purchase discount program so this wouldn't happen in 2019. I called to follow up and this never happened. Suburban Propane is staffed by a bunch of people who have no idea what they are doing and are not accountable in the least. They are deeply frustrating with little accountability and they will do very little to make up for their frequent mistakes that cost you money. read more

For many years this business was called Centex Propane. The new name for the business is Suburban Propane. Same great service, and great staff. I arrived about 30 seconds before closing time with two empty propane bottles. They kept the gates open and promptly and politely filled the two bottles. They have always provided great service every time I have used their service. If you need propane, this is the place to go. read more

Unreal! They put the bill on the tank (so they say), it got lost; duh. I got a late fee. I complained. The next delivery they said they put the next bill "one the door", we couldn't locate it. I got a late fee. I raised hell. The next bill I got a bill and a late notice ON THE SAME DAY in the mail. I called, I tried to reason with "Lorrie". Her manager said you pay the late fee, you're late. I canceled, I paid the late fee, again. Planning next to file a written complaint with the Consumer Protection Agency. read more

Don't do it, find someone else. We had a gas leak, Suburban Propane was given clear instructions not to refill the tank without fixing the leak. $2000 gas bill later, assurance that the leak was fixed, the tank (1000 gallons) was empty in weeks. Propane admitted their fault numerous times over the phone and over email, 'We had many problems with that technician, he has since been let go' was their response. I was offered $500. This is not even close to the money I paid them. Your phone calls won't be returned and your emails won't be answered - I've made many calls and sent many email. I will be taking this further with my credit card company, this is not how you treat customers. We have small children and a leaking gas tank, we paid well above market for a service that simply wasn't delivered. They then doubled down by charging $2000 to fill our tank!! Of course with a bunch of extra fees and hidden costs. Find another business to give your hard-earned money too. Suburban propane, you should be ashamed of yourselves. read more

I'm surprised by the low reviews here for Suburban. This was not my experience at all! I just moved to a new home and I'm not used to having a propane tank that I need to check. With a freeze coming, I decided to check and found my tank at 0%. I called two other companies first, all saying I would need to do a new customer safety check and would be 3-7 days until they could get me on the schedule. I called Suburban and spoke with Jill. She was very helpful and understanding. She scheduled me for a next day safety check. Danny came out and did the safety check and he was great. He walked me through all the components of my system, explained how things work, and showed me exactly what/how he was testing. Tank fill came the next day. I wasn't home, but my wife met the delivery guy and said he was very nice - even mentioning that he had a good relationship with the previous homeowner. We own our tank so no lease. Jill told me upfront about the charges if I decide to manage my own levels and need a middle-of-the-night rush fill so I chose to get the auto-fill option. Super easy! Payment/online system is also very easy to use. We interacted with 3 different people at Suburban and every single one of them was great to work with. Couldn't be happier. read more
