We are having an extremely bad experience with Ferrell Gas, 4711 Doss Rd, Austin, TX 78734-1201. We are renting a home in Briarcliff. Ferrell Gas took weeks to make a delivery and fill the propane tank at this residence, on Jan 5. However, driver only filled 40% of the tank. Now, in the midst of the ice storm, our propane tank has gone empty and Ferrell Gas was scheduled to "fill again" by Feb. 15. Here is the real poor service issue. We've called the Doss Road phone multiple times today and discussed our situation. No one calls us back. We now learn, that, as of Wednesday afternoon, Ferrell Gas may be able to send a truck on Sat/Sunday! Alex Ronnebaum is the manager there. Despite requests, we are not allowed to speak to anyone in management! Icing on the cake: I looked up the Ferrell Gas Corporate Headquarters in Liberty, Missouri. No way to speak to the CEO, Jim Ferrell. Only Voicemails. Why is our plight serious? This house has propane tank licensed to Ferrell Gas. Only they can fill it, per Texas Law. Meanwhile we have a 72 year-old grandmother in a house with the temps falling below 55 degrees. No one at Ferrell Gas cares! They will let her shiver for five or more days. We are ready to call the Austin Statesman American, KXAN, Spectrum News to share our experience with Ferrell Gas. read more

I have a contract with them where they monitor and fill up my tank with a technology where I am supposed to never have less than 20%. Not only they have failed to do it in at least 5 occasions, but I am out of gas since yesterday. The emergency dispatch couldn't come yesterday and they have said they were on their way the three times I have call today. Its 3:40 pm and still no gas while it's snowing in Austin. As few other recent reviews. I'm customer on keep full program. Run out in January in very cold weather, without heat for 3 days. Company blamed it on IT system integration. Called them before the historic cold weather (Ice and snow) last week as I saw tank was getting low, was assured that I will not run out and they have order in place to refill. Sure enough I'm running out.... Seems like everybody knew that cold weather was coming and was preparing except this poor company that was kept in the dark.... will be looking for new delivery company once we thaw out read more

Incredible. Placed an order week before last, still waiting, ran out of gas, and this was customer service's response: "Dear Jenne, Thank you for contacting Ferrellgas. We appreciate your business and we're committed to offering you the very best service. If you would like to expedite an order, fees will apply. For an Emergency Delivery, the fee is $200.00 to have it delivered today. For a One Day Delivery, the fee is $150.00 to be delivered within 24 hours during the business week. For a Two Day Delivery, the fee is $100.00 to be delivered within 48 hours during the business week. In the meantime, you may reach us during normal business hours by calling 1-888-337-7355, Monday - Friday 8am -5pm. Please let us know if there is anything else that we can do for you. Thank you, Ferrellgas Customer Service" Just called the 800 number and spoke to Tammy, who's making sure we're getting our refill today, now that we have NO propane, well after the freeze. Looks like Ferrellgas has decided their approach to customer service is to hold your propane hostage for expedited order fees. NOT a sustainable business model. I agree with the others who've posted Sharp Propane's service has tanked since Ferrellgas bought them. It's a harsh lesson for them to learn [or maybe they don't care], but this expedited service fee will cost them our business moving forward. If it's $250+ to refill each time, and that's a guaranteed amount from us, but $200 to get propane after we've run out waiting and waiting and waiting for them to get here, I'm not sure who's doing their financial modeling over there, but they should be fired. read more

Their tank monitoring system is useless! We always self monitor and adjusted the usage online b/c their estimate is always wrong and off by about 10 to 15%- and that's a big deal when you get to empty and they still show 10%! The Emergency Fill is a joke! We ran dry on a 34 degree night, with children and animals in the house, wake up to the smell of gas and no one came out for 7 hours to check the lines and it was it was 15 hours before we received a fill up! But of course this took calling 6 times & even then when they showed it they only had 30% left to give us b/c someone was rerouted to us since they forgot about us! After an emergency call at 4 am and 6 calls during the day- they forgot about us?!?! Not to mention they one of the customer service reps actually blamed me for running out of gas! Said if I would t have let my tank run dry none of this would have happened!! They put a monitor on our tank- and this is my fault?! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Zero is more appropriate. Totally unreliable. No emergency line, no weekend hours. No commitment on delivery. I have run out of gas the last two winters. I'm on autofill plan, I'm not supposed to manage my tank, but I do. Ignored my refill at 10%, ignored it at 5% and ignored it at 3%. Also ignored my wife's phone call request for refill at 1%. Never rolled a truck from 2/16 thru 2/28. Learned they don't take calls on the weekend so your out of luck! I fired them on the 2/28, new suppler came out the same day on a Saturday! read more

I've been dealing with Sharp a lot lately. I only have the kitchen oven on propane, and my old oven died. Of course, it seems no one sells a propane prepared stove. You have to get it converted. Easy enough, I set up a litany of service calls (added $200 to the cost of the stove) to get it connected because Sharp won't handle any connections inside the house (thanks Thunderbird Plumbing) and Sears was incapable of doing the connection when they brought it (that's a 1 star review waiting to happen). Ben came out, made the adjustments, checked the system pressure for leaks, and we were in business. Not so fast. The oven sounded like a mini explosion each start. It was a very concerning sound. Ben came back but was certain he had done everything necessary. I got a $100 service call bill from Sharp although the stove was still unsettling. I called back asking if anyone had an idea of what could be the issue. I would expect even if they couldn't fix it, someone around the office had to know something about propane and appliances. They never called me back. After being done wallowing in the sorrow of a month long transaction just to have a stove that sounded like it wanted to blow the house up, I finally called Sharp one more time last Friday. I spoke with someone at the office receiving another vague commit that someone would call. Cody called me about two hours later and happened to be in the area. He managed to find the one piece that wasn't totally adjusted right, and now everything is operable and sounds like it should. The fourth star on this review is for Cody. I inherited my relationship with Sharp from the person that previously owned my home and have dealt with them for the past 20 years. They're no better or worse than trash service - when they're doing good, you don't think about it. There's just not much to be super impressed with. I lease the tank, so I'm sure changing vendors wouldn't be the easiest or cheapest decision. I'm not on a gas refill service and when I've ordered gas, I've never had any problems (other than buying $200+ of propane when you refill, that's not a fun bill I get every two years or so) with the gas delivery. My faith in Sharp can get shaken when they won't call back, but it's good to know they will make an effort if you stick with it. Luckily I don't need them too often. read more

When Ferrellgas purchased Sharpe Propane, this company fell apart. Do not use them!!! I have been a customer for almost 20 years and have never had such poor service, failure to show up, and rude customer representatives who say someone will come out  and, then it does not happen and you are not even given the courtesy of a telephone call that they will not be coming. I am on the guarantee program that you will not have your tank go on empty. The name sounds great, but the reality is this company does not provide what they say. About six weeks ago, I ran out of propane. I had NO HEAT for 3 days and two nights during a time when we were having unusually cold weather. Ferrellgas said they would come out to fill up my empty tank, but were a no show two days in a row. So, with no heat and empty promises for service, I stayed in a small room with 2 space heaters to stay warm. The second incident is going on now. I called Monday because my tank was low and did not want to be without heat AGAIN. Ferrell said they would come out on Wed. They were a  no show on Wed, no show on Thurs., no show on Friday. Each day I called, was put on hold for over 30 minutes and then told the driver was scheduled to deliver the propane on that day, yet they never showed up, nor did anyone call me to reschedule. Also, I was told that logistics managers do not talk to customers when I asked to talk to a manager. I am praying that I can get through this winter storm over the weekend and still have heat. read more

I've never experienced worst customer service in my life. Especially for a service that provides heating and cooking fuel for my family. Their wait times are ridiculous, when you get them on the phone to ask them about their wait times, they are rude. Even if we were not running low on propane in the middle of the worst winter storm Texas has seen in 100 years, I would still be shocked by their rudeness, and ineptitude. Please do not buy your propane gas from this company, or its owner Ferrell gas. read more

I would give this company 0 stars if I could. We have been dealing with them for almost 2 years. They are the worst, and the owner is parasite. The customer service reps did what they could to help us, but the horrible owner and management prevented it. We are out of gas, and they refuse to send a technician to see what's wrong and also refuse to come fill up. We are being bullied into paying $1000 for the last fill up, even though we are current on payments and already paid 2/3 of that owed amount. Even after that, they refuse to fill up our tank past 50%. Until we pay them money we don't owe, we have no heat and cannot shower in February. Thankfully, we have a new company coming out to remove this rusty old garbage sharp tank and install a working one. If you buy new house that has sharp propane, immediately call them to remove the tank and find a better service. Even the customer service reps had to apologize for their unreasonable owner and management. They know their company sucks and we're not surprised at all to hear we wanted to cancel. They were actually nice and helpful. It's the company, and the rotten piece of human trash at the top that are to blame. read more

These guys are the best. We had a seriously deficient gas system inherited from a negligent landlord. It was a major PITA getting it fixed, but Cody and the team at Sharp worked with us throughout the process, coming out, checking it out, and working with us until our setup was safe for our family. I have a 500 gallon tank which for safety is only filled to 400 gallons and it takes over two years to use the gas down to 20% full. I had the tank filled in December 2017 and pay as I go instead of the customer care program. I got a call from Sharp a month later in January saying they are delivering propane and I told them not to delivery since I just filled the tank and paid the $1,000 bill. They came anyway and said they delivered 90 gallons. It takes six to eight months to use 90 gallons and it had been one month since I filled up. I was not home when they came so I have no idea what the delivery person did. There is no way he delivered 90 gallons to me or it would have overflowed. Did he take that gas to his house or sell it cheap to a buddy or exchange it for drugs? Who knows. Something here stinks big time........ read more

Honestly I would rather give them zero stars. Sharp propane have been our propane provider since we moved into our house back in 1999. Sharp has been purchased by Farrell Gas fairly recently. Since then, service is nonexistent.. we have run out of propane twice even though we are on the "auto fill" program. Seems they are not monitoring out tank. We checked propane before the cold temps hit and we were at 40% so requested a fill up. We were told twice that they would be out the next day. Meanwhile icy temps hit and propane kept a steady drop. Waited several days....Called again today and the person who answered simply told me she had no idea when they could get to us. Others in the neighborhood are out or running out and they simply just don't seem to be able to do anything about it. Unable to get another company to fill the tank for us (our neighbor got filled up two days ago by "Bubbas Got Gas"..but since we rent the tank they wont touch us. ALSO..Farrell could not assist me in purchasing the tank at this time because they are just 'too busy." It is a shame and we are just stuck. read more

This team goes the extra mile and does an excellent job! We had set a date for the initial safety check and propane tank fill on our new home. At the last minute we had to cancel. Then when we could finally move in, this Sharp team scrambled, rearranged workloads and went the extra mile to start service within a day. Cody did the safety inspection, installed sediment traps, and took the time to explain all the safety points and answer all my questions in full. Do Not Recommend A driver opened our gate, drove onto our property with loose dogs, without permission. When asked to leave, he then waited until dogs were inside, got out of his truck, and still tried to walk across the property to view the tank. At this time, he was told to leave and did. Sharp Propane was called with the complaint, and the receptionist/office person tried to argue that I gave permission for them to access my property without permission. We have dogs who are not locked up, and if one would have attacked the driver, this would have been on the company. When the driver was here a year ago (after calling first), we were told that our file states that the dogs need to be put away therefore the owners must be called first. After the office person argued my point for a few minutes, she finally stated that the driver should have called first, not let himself onto my property, and that this would be followed up on. I was also told I would get a call from the manager. Since that time, I have had 2 calls from other drivers with the company asking to come check our tank. No call from the manager. I have told both drivers that they may not come on our property, and have had to change our gate code to be safe, as they clearly cannot be trusted. At this point, being almost a week with no contact from management, we will change providers. I do not recommend this company to anyone who does not want people entering their property, aka trespassing, without permission first. read more

Hideous customer service! I've been with Sharp on their auto fill program for five years and have run out of gas twice in the coldest months of winter (I've got very young children)! I had to borrow a neighbor's space heater last time! Just yesterday they stopped by and filled my tank. They charged me $2.49 while my neighbors just got gas at $1.85. I called and they said it's because I'm on their auto fill program! You know, the same one where they've let my tank run out two years in a row. Sharp is an over market priced propane delivery company which charges tank owners 40 cents over the competition. I had them remove my tank and they also stole the regulator along with it, which I had purchased. They never refunded the remaining ownership time on my tank but I was so happy to be rid of them I gratefully will not miss them. read more

This company is a joke. It's hard to believe they still are business with all their complaints. The reviews you read are very real on ppl thinking the sell or steal propane. I had paid 600 for them to fill up our tank, only to have them trespass on the property and steal it. Saying it was a repo lol. It was paid in full and get this- almost 40% was left in the tank. Funny part was the idiots left their clipboard so it shows we were getting shafted by paying for 250 gallons when it was only a 200 gallon tank. We ended up using another company who is awesome and confirmed their customers too have had nightmarish issues with sharp. I've been with Sharp Propane for 13 years. I have been on a service program where they come and give me gas without having to call. Every 2 months in the summer and every month in the winter. They haven't given me gas since March. They have let me run out of gas 7 times. One of the times I ran out, their service guy didn't have the right tool to light my furnace. It was in the 30's, I'm 58 and he left me without heat. One time I ran out of gas, a guy shows up with a 100 gal. tank with no meter and no pump. Tried to charge me a set rate without knowing how much gas I had been given. Now I've run out of gas again. Last night, actually. I called this morning for gas, they said yes, they would deliver. Called again at 5:00 to find out when the service guy would be here and I was told they won't deliver gas because I finally had it and have chosen a different company. New company can't deliver a tank until Friday. I can't cook, bath or heat my house. This is the service Sharp provides to it's long time loyal customers. If you need a propane company, DON"T use Sharp. read more

Erratic and indecipherable billing practices. We're on their "Customer Care" program, where they monitor your usage, and refill, when you need it. Unlike others who report that they've been left without, we have the opposite issue: They deliver 300 gallons in January, and another 300 in February, then we go nine months before we need another 300 gallons. Seems a bit wonky, to me ... You receive a paper statement that shows one amount due, and then you go online to pay, and it shows a completely different amount due. Oh, and then there's the "Easy-Pay" amount, which is a third completely different number ... There doesn't appear to be one single place online where you can see your beginning balance, deliveries made, usage, and amount due, etc. You have to try and piece it all together, yourself, which seems kind of convenient, for them ... impossible to keep track of. And if you call them, they can't explain it all, either. They'll send you a back-end accounting doc, if you ask for it. Otherwise, you just have to trust them. Uh huh. Nope. read more

I've seen with Sharp Propane for 6 years since buying my house. I'm on their customer care program and they let me run out of gas and I was right in the middle of cooking dinner. What customer care? Then I get my bill for filling the tank and a separate letter on the same day with a 30 day late notice. Bad way of doing business. Had issues before with their billing department. Great to be on the customer care program. I have a hot tub and I have left it on several of times, but fortunately Sharp has a 24/7 line where it connects you to a on call driver. They have showed up at 9 p.m. to deliver gas; with no extra charges. Drivers are great and courteous. read more

I see a lot of complaints. I see comments about the "Sharp Customer Care Plan." I began my service with Sharp in November, 1993. I was in their customer care program for most of these years. For the past 5-6 years the customer care program went in the tank, not the propane tank...the toilet tank! It became my responsibility to monitor the propane level otherwise I would have run out numerous times over the past few years. Repeated phone calls for a refill went unheeded with the response always being "you're good at 10%, we'll get to you...don't worry." Just recently I called during one of the freezes that we were at 15%, that we are retired, at home 24-7, and that we both had health issues. They knew all this anyway, but to no avail. Seven days later we were below 0%, so I called again. Their response was that "there's always about 25 gallons remaining when the gauge indicates ZERO. Okay, that was it...I was done with Sharp at that moment. I called Action propane and ordered new service with them. The very next day I received a new tank with 25 gallons of fuel already in it, and it was filed within two hours following install. While the delivery man was here he noticed the Sharp tank sitting idly off to the side and said..."you do know old man Sharp sold his company to Ferrell Propane about 5-6 years ago don't you?" It was all very clear now as it was 5 or so years ago Sharp's service went to hell-in-a-handbag. As a note to all this, the Sharp delivery man came here to refill my tank on the 9th day after my call for service. He was a tad pissed, and said, you had 15% and you changed companies? Needless-to-say, I did inform him that nine days had passed since I was at 15%. See ya! read more

Disappointing service in Dripping Springs, TX. We're signed up for the "complete care" program. Through that program Sharp is supposed to regularly check the propane level so, in theory, you never deplete the supply. The service costs. I have been a Sharp Propane customer for 19 years. I am on the Auto Pay program and although the billing statement is not perfect, the accounting is correct. We were on the keep-full program at one time (2012) and cancelled it because of the price and because we ran out of propane with a young child. We decided to try them again in 2014, and suddenly they decided to use the contract from 2012 to keep us full. However, on three occasions we ran out of propane. Instead of topping you off when they are nearby, they wait until you are almost low or empty so that they can generate the most revenue. In addition, if you shop around, they are the most expensive propane! They are .36 more per gallon than AmeriGas. They recently came by and filled us up UNANNOUNCED and left an invoice for 700.00 on our door. We told them to pump it out and they said they'd charge us 175 dollars to do it. Why should I have to pay for something I didn't order? The attorney general needs to be involved in their tactics. read more

For years the business I work for used Sharp to deliver propane here. We would call the office and within a couple of days, many times that same day, we had propane. Suddenly they changed their way of doing things and I had to call their call center to place an order and the message was not always delivered to the Bryan office at all. Last summer the business was sold and I ordered propane from Sharp on a Friday. The following Thursday I called and they did not even have us scheduled claiming they didn't know what size tank we had. I fill propane tanks and was out of propane. I called another company and they delivered propane to us within 2 hrs. I told the person on the phone at the Sharp call center that we were changing companies because of their lack of concern for their customers and their lack of customer service. He simply said "okay". No one from the company ever contacted us to try to get our business again or apologize. read more
