This was a fantastic diner. We were there on a Saturday night and the place was absolutely packed. (Shoutout to the large group of senior citizens who were treating the diner as a BYOB and having what looked to be a great time. That's a power move!) Service was great. The atmosphere was great. And the men's room was far nicer than I expected for a diner! I had a bowl of chili that was absolutely enormous, covered with a thick layer of cheddar cheese, and served with a very generous pile of tortilla chips. It was an A+ diner chili. They have a very impressive selection of baked good. When I went to pay the bill, a man who seemed to be the owner was giving a very detailed explanation of which cheesecakes were gluten free to a customer. I said "You really know your cheesecakes." He looked back at me with an appropriately serious expression and said "Yes, I do." Minus one star because the chicken fingers from the kids menu were frankly not good. First time I have eaten at Suburban Diner was probably over thirty years ago, it was a mainstay restaurant for my friends and I in High School. Come here any time of the day and get some banging breakfast food. In fact, this is the Diner I first tried the breakfast item entitled, "The Monte Cristo". If you haven't heard of it be sure to stop what you are doing and google it NOW! Now that you're back let me also divulge that the servings here are huge. Menu goes on for days, you would be hard pressed not to find something you will like here. The owners I believe are Greek, so if you're a fan of Greek food definitely give some of their signature Greek dishes a shot. I also really like their Chocolate cake; they have many desserts in the glass where you go to pay on your way out, including Greek staples like Baklava. If you are looking for a place and the group of people you are going out with cannot agree on a type of cuisine, I highly recommend coming here as everyone should find something to their likening at the Suburban Diner. I'm new to the whole diner scene not being from the area. I have no idea why this place only has 3.3 stars. The service was fantastic. And the chocolate covered cheesecake about has me in a coma. It was butter smooth, and delicious. I sat at the counter alongside some regulars and got a very cool neighborhood vibe. Overall great experience. Do not bother. The food not good and the service is worst. I have been coming here for 35 years. This was the worst service I have ever seen!! All I wanted was a cheddar cheese omlete and crepes. I do not like to waste food, however the omelet comes with home fries and toast. I ask how much for just the omelet, she answered is still full price. This is a nice-looking, clean diner with friendly service and a decent breakfast. Unfortunately, some of the non-breakfast meals and bakery items are not good. My friends and I visited on separate occasions but each of us had less than delicious experiences. Some, but not all, specifics:The egg salad was chunky with no taste. The turkey and avocado sandwich tasted gamey. The turkey wasn't cooked correctly. The paninis were soggy on the bottom making it a mushy sandwich. We were in the mood for their onion soup. At the same time we ordered two of their early bird specials, roast turkey & chicken croquettes. My wife decided she wanted 2 mini canollis. The best breakfast in Somerton/Feasterville. Every time I come here the breakfast and service is on point. The price isn't too bad for good food and service either. I've come here at 1am and the food was as great as a weekday morning and dinner. The turkey dinner is delicious, as well as the salads and the breakfast items are my absolute favorite. You just try the 2 eggs any style platter comes with home fries and toast- home fries portion is huge! And the waffle is so yummy- so big also- expect to share it or go full blown beast and eat it yourself. I came here with two picky eaters already and both times the people ate everything up without complaints. This is definitely one of my favorite places to get breakfast. This place is a hotpot for elderly people it seems. The food is catered to the taste of older generations being that it's very bland, plain, and simple. This place used to be great diner food but it's now mediocre food. I mean if you can't make a decent spaghetti and meatballs for $15 and I can why eat out. I didn't even want a take out container. Metro Diner down the street is better. And we had the most least interested in working server. He was bored out of his mind never checked on us because he was to busy surfing his phone in a booth in the corner. I had to wave him down for an refill and I had to ask him a few times to get the Parmesan cheese he asked if I wanted and I said yes. I was having my car serviced just down the street and came in for lunch while I waited. The staff greeted me promptly and warmly seated me in my choice of a booth or table, I chose a booth because I had some paperwork to do. The restaurant is decorated beautifully, very clean, and nicely decorated for the holidays. The staff was all working hard as a team to provide great service, of course just inside the door I was so tempted by the delectable desserts in the spotless case, every imaginable way to satisfy that sweet tooth was there. My server approached promptly I ordered from a huge menu, I opted to not read since it was a book. I asked what the soups were and ordered a coffee. The server provided the soup options, I ordered the split pea soup, a bowl. My coffee came quickly, it was Lacas brand, I believe it is their city blend, it was fresh hot and good however a little bitter, I suggest an in-line water filter or softener whatever is needed to remove the bitter, most times your coffee vendor will help with this. The creamers were delivered warm, individual creamer cups. I prefer them to be chilled, typically they are long-time shelf-stable but I like my dairy products cold. Condiments were already on the table, not filled as you can see in the photo, The sugar dispenser was dirty and the mustard messy looking it is nice to have clean and full condiment options. Some employees did not wear a mask, which is concerning regardless of vaccination status right now. The soup was delivered about 10 minutes later, it had large fresh croutons made fresh and delicious, the soup was piping hot and excellent. There were two TV viewing options no volume or closed captions one had the View on and the other a marketing Ad system. During my lunch a server dropped a tray full of beverages, every other employee jumped in to help clean it up and protect others from falling. This was a great visit. This place can be hit or miss. My better experiences happen to be during breakfast service. Lunch and dinner here is only so so. Service is very good and the staff is friendly. This place is huge so I'm always seated immediately after entering. I recommend the western omelette which comes with huge cuts of ham, onion and your choice of cheese with potatoes. read more

Food was good but they added a credit card surcharge to my bill. There was no signage as required by law on the point of entry and by the register warning of a surcharge. Food and service were good. The big negative was the credit card surcharge added to the bill. Restaurants need to incorporate these fees into the cost of doing business. They are nothing new. Your menu prices should be what the customer pays and then you could do a cash discount. Surcharges rub people the wrong way. I won't be back!!! The places looked clean and the service was good. The owner walked around to each table and asked how was their food and if they needed anything. I ordered the breakfast platter with bacon, cheese eggs, home fries with peppers and onions, and a side of french toast. I ordered a "large" OJ, no free refills. They were veryyy generous with the bacon and the cheese for my eggs. I love bacon and cheese so I have no complaints. The french toast wasn't bad but it wasn't warm enough to melt the butter on it. The home fries were pretty average. When we got the check, my friends and I had our cards with the receipt on the edge of the table so the waitress could take it. We waited for 10mins and waved down our waitress to take the bill. Then she told us we had to pay at the front.
