Compared to some of the big box chains in the area, this store excels at finding what I need for my home projects.

The best thing this Ace has going for it is the location which is a five star…read more The staff is not very knowledgeable so for that I'd have to give them a three star. But, they also don't try very hard so even though their knowledge is not there (as compared to, for example, the Aloha Ace Hardware) instead of seeking help from other staff in the store or working more to understand the problem, they basically say, "good luck with that". I'm writing this review from multiple experiences so I'm summarizing a bit but, for example: sometimes I come in because I'm doing a DIY project and I need something, let's say landscaping stakes. I'm sort of making this up just to illustrate the point. So I explain this, I want to make my own landscaping stakes. Here's how this would go at the Aloha Ace Hardware: Helpful hardware wo/man: "Ok, so you want something to stick in the ground so that you can hold things down like drip lines or landscaping cloth?" Me: "Yup, exactly." Helpful hardware wo/man: "OK, let's go over here and look at our wire. How about this, will that work?" Me: "Well, I think it's too small, it won't be strong enough" Helpful hardware wo/man: "Hm, ok, let's look over here. Here's some aluminum flat stock. Could you cut this up and use it like stakes?" Me: "That's a good idea but it looks like it will be too expensive." Helpful hardware wo/man: "Have you considered using wire coat hangers?" Me: "We only have wood and plastic hangers". Helpful hardware wo/man: "You know, I think you can get those on Amazon for something like $15 for 100. Would that work?" Break. Ok, so here's how that whole thing would work (theoretically, again, I'm just summarizing many different experiences, this particular one is made up) at the 25th ave store: 25TH Ave hardware wo/man: "We don't sell landscaping stakes." Me: "Oh, ok, do you sell anything like them?" 25TH Ave hardware wo/man: "Like camping stakes? No, we don't sell any camping gear." Me: "No, I mean, do you sell something I could use to make these things?" 25TH Ave hardware wo/man: "What are you looking for?" Break. In reality, I don't think this is a staff problem it's a management problem. Here, there is not your typical Ace mentality of "tell me your problem, I WILL help you" it's more like: "Tell me what you want and I'll tell you what aisle to look for it." I want this store to be successful but unfortunately, it's sort of a last resort for me and when I go it's fully with the expectation that I'm in this not so big warehouse store, on my own. Sometimes, I feel like I'm better off in a huge warehouse store, on my own, since there at least I have more options to look through. Overall, I would really give this store a two star but that's such a poor score and I want to help the store survive so I'm going to game the system and give it a three star.

Clerk was getting ready to go on break and immediately another clerk stepped in. I was looking for another product and he walked me over to the area instead of pointing to the aisle. Home Depot has mastered the art of taking your money and disappearing the second there's a problem…read more We bought a water heater from them, paid a licensed plumber to install it, and the garbage they sold us turned out to be defective right out of the box. Naturally, we contacted the store expecting them to stand behind the products they profit from. Instead, they immediately hid behind the manufacturer and acted like none of it was their problem. So apparently Home Depot's business model is: Sell defective products, collect the money, dump the customer onto someone else when things fail. Amazing system. Truly. Anyone can make money if they never take responsibility for what they sell. And this wasn't even a one-time experience. Nearly everything we've purchased from this particular store has had issues, defects, or outright failures. Getting anyone there to help is like talking to a wall. No ownership, no urgency, no accountability. Just endless "you'll have to call someone else" nonsense from employees who clearly have been trained to avoid responsibility at all costs. At this point, it feels like Home Depot is less interested in customer service and more interested in being a middleman for defective junk while leaving customers stuck dealing with the consequences. Companies like this wonder why customers stop coming back and why people are abandoning big-box stores. Here's your answer: People are tired of paying premium prices for garbage products and nonexistent support. Absolutely pathetic customer service.

This is NOT a good place to buy anything that your life depends on... like lifts, jack stands, ramps and so on. Also not a good place to buy if you are looking for professional grade, precision items. I've been wrenching since I was a wiener so I know the value of tools that can be dual-purposed as pry-bars and sledge hammers. I have a fair number of crappy tools that have served me well for the purposes that I needed them to. I also have a fair number of tools that came from Snap-on, Craftsman and suppliers like those. A cheapo socket set? A set of drift pins? Yep, this is the place. A precision torque wrench that will get a lot of use? Maybe not so much. The employees at these places are usually low quality just like the merchandise. I don't mean this as a slam. You're going there to save money right? Not to have a great customer experience, get great advice and walk out with high quality tools at prices that are in the stratosphere. If the cashier even looks at you and acknowledges your presence you should feel lucky. Most of the time the employees are so totally indifferent to you that they will actually turn around and walk the other way if you look like you are going to ask them a question. I've been to this particular store many (MANY) times and this is one reliable constant here. They typically have on one cashier on duty and a line of many customers. And that one cashier has only one speed.... s-l-o-w! I'm going to guess that HF doesn't pay very well so attracting good employees probably isn't on the corporate radar. Not every project requires top-of-the-line tools to accomplish. I do a lot of repairs that only require a tool that works, not necessarily a tool that would work well in daily use. So in that regard, HF fulfills it's purpose and most of us don't have the disposable funds to be buying the best possible tool if it's only going to be used rarely. HF is popular with professional mechanics so perfectly serviceable equipment can be had here at low prices. You just need to know how to spot quality vs junk. Hence the 4 stars for fulfilling a needed service. If I was to grade the staff, it would be a solid one star and that would be generous.
