Must stop lunch spot downtown. Most probably go for the soups which are amazing, but I go for the sandwiches. So good. Some of my go tos (there's rotation in the menu) include the Gio and Frittata. The Reuben there puts other Reubens to shame. When getting a sandwich, can get a soup add on fairly cheaply but I gravitate to their macaroni salad. Again, one of the best ones out there to me. Ultimately, can't go wrong with sandwiches, soups or sides. I can't speak to the salads but imagine they are good too. Only bummer is they are open M-F lunch only. So if in town on a Saturday or Sunday OR simply want an amazing sandwich or soup in the evening, you have to look elsewhere. read more

I always go to Subito on a sick day for delivery because I know their food will always make me feel better. I ordered the Italian sausage and Butternut Squash soup with the Poeta turkey sandwich on gluten-free bread. The soup was light and creamy with the Italian Sausage being a perfect addition. Ordered takeout for lunch and the sandwich was stilll hot when I got home! The turkey pesto sandwich was delicious and very heavy. They definitely aren't stingy on ingredients and the flavors go really well together. I also got the Rosso salad and it complimented really well. Glad I could find a great lunch spot in Indy! This is SUCH a cool place in downtown Indy! It's been opened for three years now and I'm mad at myself for just now getting around to having lunch there. The hubs and I had never been and as soon as we opened the door we were greeted with lots of hellos! The most hospitable lunch place I've ever been to. Immediately they came from around the counter and explained that [almost] everything was made in house with local products in their scratch kitchen, described all the breads, soups, meats, and cookie offerings. Everything sounded so amazing. It's an order-at-the-counter type of place, but their superb customer service made it seem much more formal and we felt super loved. We were the only ones in the place at first but a long line quickly grew behind us and they were yelling out folk's names like we were straight out of an episode of Cheers! I ended up deciding on the tomato basil soup, grilled caprese sandwich, and a chocolate chip oatmeal cookie. The hubs got tomato basil soup, the dara poeta turkey sandwich, and a peanut butter cookie. Each sandwich is served with macaroni salad that has so many delicious spices going on. We shared a XXX root beer and oh. my. goodness. how wonderful everything was!! They let us sample their country vegetable soup that they offer everyday and that was so delicious - they cook it with 17 different vegetables based on what's in season. How cool! Last week, I looked up "lunch" on Yelp to see if there was anything near my office that I hadn't tried. I'm very glad I ran that search and saw such great reviews for Subito as it's a new favorite! I had it for lunch three days last week and went again today...it's that good! It's carry out only, but if it's nice out, the picnic tables at City Market are close by. The service is truly friendly and everyone looks like they enjoy working there together. The food is awesome! I've had the Dar Poeta (twice...once with jalapeños added, which was good), the Turkey Pesto, the Greek Salad, the Clam Chowder, the Korean Brisket Stew, the Crab & Corn Chowder, and chocolate chip cookies. Each item was delicious. The clam chowder was particularly good. So was the Greek Salad, which was so good that it made me look forward to trying the other salads. I had no idea this place existed till our friend told us about it because he works downtown. It's taken us so long to come here since they are only open Monday through Friday from 10-3. It definitely is an ideal lunch spot for those who live and work around the neighborhood. This is an order and go spot as they have no dine in area. It's as simple as soup, sandwiches, and salads. They offer soup samples which we really appreciated because we were indecisive and they all sounded amazing. With such a simple menu, they're able to get you in and out quickly. I ordered the Smoking Goose Pancetta and Lentil soup and the Cuban sandwich, which came with macaroni salad. The soup was very hearty and savory. Came in for lunch. Small shop with BIG flavor and hospitality! First time in, staff was so friendly and helpful explaining things. They make bread fresh daily, and all fresh ingredients! Soups rotate, but also have a few that are always on the menu. Sandwiches, soups, salads, sides, and a few desserts. I had the Dar Poeta Sandwich, Chicken Velvet soup, and a side Caesar salad (worked a double that day, so I got lunch and dinner). Went to the Clerks office on Delaware to turn in my wedding certificate (woooo) and saw a little hole in the wall sandwich shop, and knew it just had to be good, and I was right. This is a tiny deli with no seating inside, but don't let that fool you. The menu is stuffed full of delicious sounding salads, sandwiches, wraps, and soups, and they all sound amazing. Upon entering, the man working the front was very helpful in helping me decide, and was also very friendly and made me feel comfortable in a foreign, quick environment. I ended up ordering the Brisket Dip sandwich with a side of their beef jus, which was almost the same consistency of gravy rather than a loose beef stock. The sandwich had a tender beef brisket, provolone, Mayo, and possibly onions, and was clearly pressed down in a panini press. My GOD, I was not prepared for this sandwich. By itself, the sandwich was savory, creamy, and so flavorful. But, this sandwich was obviously soulmates with the dip, because you can't do one without the other. Adding the jus gave a whole extra layer of flavor, and I love dipping sandwiches in soup, so this was exactly what I needed. I also decided to get a cup of soup to add to my meal, and I'm glad I did, because this may have been the best thing I had all day. I thought it was going to just be a stock tortilla soup, but it was so much more!! They added some of the beef into the soup, and it was piled with corn, onions, peppers, and beans, and was so, SO good. The broth was spicy and almost a little sweet with gray spices inside, and the rest of ingredients made it addicting. I should've gotten a bowl!! Stumbled in here on a work trip because one of our conference attendees knew the owner. I opted for the Poeta- the most delicious flavor combination on a sandwich I can possibly remember, and a cup of white bean chicken chili - both were excellent! We also partook in a chocolate chip cookie that I wish I currently had one of while I'm typing this! While we were there, plenty of regulars came in and you can tell the owner and employees take pride in what they're doing and it absolutely shows. They used to be located a block from my work, which made it really convenient to stop in when I'd forgotten my lunch. Since they have moved, I have not been back in. I was downtown for work randomly and was looking around for a place to have lunch. This place was nearby so I tried the turkey pesto sandwich and the pork ginger noodle soup. The soup was fantastic--lots of good chunks of pork and a nice heat from the ginger. The sandwich came out warm with melted mozzarella and pesto all over. It got messy, but it was awesome. As I write this review, just six hours after my first visit, I'm contemplating going back for lunch tomorrow. Soup is my favorite food group, so I was excited to finally make it in here. I was positively amazed by the flavorful chicken curry and basmati rice soup I had today, complete with potatoes, carrots, and lentils. It was a good size, 12 oz, and came with their house made bread. I also grabbed a Nutella panino, which was a nice sweet treat. My coworker was very happy with his lobster bisque. It was super delicious and filling even though it didn't have a lot of ingredients. You can choose the soup of the day from the menu and I went with the very creamy butternut squash soup. The staff was super friendly and got our order ready in no time! This place is takeout only. But if the weather is nice you can walk across the street to city market and just enjoy your lunch there. At the recommendation of a friend, I stopped for lunch after my daughter's downtown Dr. appt. I didn't realize that it was not a dine in restaurant, and had paid the meter long enough for us to enjoy our lunch. Our disappointment was short lived when we saw our options on the board. We decided to get different sandwiches so we could share. My tastebuds were so happy, I only wish I lived closer to indulge more often. Subito is hands down my favorite lunch spot in the city. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu, but my personal favorites are the Revelo and Dar Poeta. Back before the pandemic, my work friends and I go at least once a week - some of them even went multiple times a week, haha. The staff is friendly and recognize their favorite regulars. If you want to have amazing lunch and spend under $15 - this is the place to go. You can't sit inside, but you can walk to Monument Circle and sit on the steps and enjoy your food. This is my 2nd review of Subito. Oldest kiddo had a swim meet in Indianapolis in 2018. Ate here three times that trip and have been dreaming of it ever since!
