I bought my brand new Outback from Subaru of Bend. Thought I had a great experience with everything. Come to find out that they had sold me an illegitimate Subaru, and had secretly upsold me on a 3rd party warranty that was more expensive and didn't include as much as the official Subaru warranty. They verbally confirmed I was buying an official Subaru of America warranty, but when the financing guy got a hold of my paperwork, he did a quick switch (obviously hoping I wouldn't catch it) and switched it out for a more expensive and less inclusive warranty. When I called the next day, I was given the usual run around about how I I shouldn't cancel it and blah blah blah. They were unwilling to give me the official Subaru warranty that I had agreed to pay for and said I had to talk to the finance guy to cancel it. That guy was a freaking jerk, again, talked down to me and berated me for wanting to cancel a warranty I was literally lied about, all before he literally hung up on me. I had to call back and talk to another lady to confirm he actually cancelled my illegitimately sold warranty. When I talked to another employee during this whole interaction, they told me the owner of Subaru of Bend was an owner of the illegitimate 3rd party warranty company. So it all makes sense. They're incentivized to upsell you on a warranty package, and there a good chance they push this false package on every John who walks in. Garbage business practices for a garbage business. Caleb stated that when I come in for an unscheduled oil change, they would do the tires at the same time. 3. Service Dept: Duston a. The Service department did not honor Caleb's statement about not needing to schedule for the installation. b. Scheduled them several weeks out. c. At my appointment, I asked to speak with the manager. d. Duston said he would look into it. He called back and stated I was owed the rebate money. But he wanted to set up a meeting with Duston. He stated he would let me know the following day. Did not hear back from him. e. I texted again, He texted back wanting to set up a meeting with Duston. It was set for the following Monday. Now 6 weeks into this issue. f. Met with both. Duston made multiple lies during the meeting and would not look me in the eye. g. Brian said he would make good on the rebate and let me know either that evening or the following morning how. h. This is specifically for the parts department because the prices that are advertised on the subaru of bend website for their parts are half of what they want to charge you in person. Their website showed the crush washer I needed for $5 and then they wanted almost $14 for each washer when I showed up. The man who works the desk said you only get that price if you order online and wait for them to pick them for you a hour or two later. Their parts department people all seem like they would rather do anything else than be there and are not friendly. This is my second bad experience with their parts department. read more

I brought my car in so have the sirus cm checked as it was getting intermitent signal loss. They told me they checked the antenna and ghe the problem was "inside the unit". 10 days to get a replacement radio. There was no charge for ghe seevice as it was billed as a "courteey exchange" from Subaru of America. After swapping the new unit it said on the service paperwork that The stenna was disconnected and indicated ghat I may have just disconnected it, Also says yge new unit isn't covered under warranty and any future repairs must be psid for by me. Also told me I had to call Sirius XM to activate it. After almost an hor with sirius changing over to yhe new unit, they told me it was linked to another account and that the dealership needed to release it. I called and left a message, but never heard back. It's been many weeks no paying for service I cant use. Still no XM radio at all. it does have a signal but no sound on any channels. So now I have a radio I cant use for XM that is not covered under any warranty. I'm going to have to go into the dealership personally to make sure someone gets my message and fixes the issue. I'm skeptical thisbis a new unit since it is registered to someone else and there is no warranty at all. I even sent Sirius a photo of the unit, but they insist that they can't activate it without the dealership's involvement. read more

These guys jerked us around and around trying to buy a car. Finally, we ended up going over the VW and bought one there. We went to go buy a car for my mom; the first thing she said was, "I need a liftgate". After some back and forth and a lot of time sitting there we finally decided on the car and the price. When my mom checked back a week later on the delivery date they said they sold it to someone else. They never had her put down a deposit. So, after a second afternoon spent there we found another car and this time she put the deposit down on it for when it came in. When she checked back on the delivery date they changed the price saying, "we don't have the deals we had back when we first agreed on the car." The down payment and monthly payment went up significantly. That wasn't going to work. So, she asked for her deposit back or find a car that was in stock. They sold her my mom on another car with all sorts of features she doesn't need. After an hour two of back and forth we were almost going to agree on the third vehicle, but realized it didn't have the one thing she asked for, which was a liftgate. Great service when we purchased our 2016 Outback with Sam, and always great service with the Service team and receptionists whenever we come in for oil changes. We've had our car for a little over a year now. When we were shopping around, Sam approached us to let us know he's happy to help and just did his own thing. He wasn't pushy or like a 'shark' like some car salesmen are. We always appreciate this because we just want to shop in peace. Sorry this review is long overdue on here. The Service team is just as nice as it gets. We always take our car in for oil changes here twice a year and service is quick and efficient. We're never waiting for more than an hour. Also, every time we check out with a clean bill of health (for our car), my husband is impressed that they aren't suggesting random services or products. He's super into cars and has had bad experiences with dealerships like Ford, or small oil change places like Jiffy Lube or Pep Boys (in California) because they'd try to sell him services/products that aren't necessary. Go to Portland to Buy your Subaru. They make promisises then claim after the sell they never said that. Greg the sales guy didn't have to "selll" me on anything. I wanted an outback and all he had to do is find on on the lot for me. This was hard for some reason but he stuck with it. It was a weeknight and snowing. He set me up with a brand new Subaru 2021. Decent trade in on my old outback and an ok price. The part I didn't like is all calls, text, emails about how great they are and how much they want to support and help. I got in my new Subaru that night, I was told by Greg the sales guy he didn't have time to get this car detailed but to give him a call to set that up. I purchase the clear coat, so when I set that up I assumed they would detail my car at that time. NOPE. I was told oh no you have to set an appointment for tbat...ummm ok. They did provide a loaner car why the put the clear coat on. I had to ask as they don't offer. However I drove the car 12 miles the needle on the gas tank did not move. They didn't take the loaner back until I "topped it off" super inconvience and time consuming. Perfect example of poor service. I would have paid the extra money to have them top it off, but that was not an option. Then when the weather got into the teens the windows wouldn't roll down! What the heck. I call the sales guy Greg who acts like it's no big deal. Turns out this is a common problem with the new outback. So guess what I will just have to live with it. Greg was like "well you can bring it in...and maybe we can see what the proble is" what! I just bought a brand new outback with 8 miles on it and MAYBE we can figure out what the proble is!!! The final straw and why I'm writing the review is because when I called Greg about the detailing and why it didn't happen when I brought it in for the clear coat. He said well just wait till the snows gone and that way it will stay nice. I thought that was a great idea. I texted Greg yesterday, he said ok I will talk to my boss and get back to you. He call me today and said ...."well it may take 30 min or a little longer....if someone is ahead of you. I'm just going to wash your car. I was like ummm "I thought you said you would detail it" he was like no it was already detailed when you bought it. Your not going to get a $300 detail sorry you thought that or you "heard" that... I was really disappointed and will NOT be taking the time out to leave my car at the dealership for a sales guy to wash it! I can take car of that!!! I generally take my car to Subaru Dealership for repairs. However, in this instance my husband took it to a friends shop. It was discovered (by friend mechanic) that there had been a possible mistake made by subaru on my last visit. Friend mechanic fixed problem and charge us roughly $300. I drove directly to Subaru dealership to discuss issue....As per usual customer service rep DUSTIN PIGGOTT was outstanding. Had I just taken my car back into Subaru Dealership they would have gladly fixed the issue at no charge. Mistake completely made on my part. That said.....Subaru's Dustin Piggott spoke to his supervisor and got approved a full refund! I honestly felt guilty taking it because the mistake was really on me. My review is of the service department. I was not going to use this dealership based on the reviews BUT I had such a good experience I feel it necessary to inform the community. I was greeted by Brandon and I was there for an express oil / change tire rotation service without an appointment and I showed up at 11 AM. One of the most courteous young men I've meet in sometime. I was impressed with his professional and uplifting demeanor. The service department found a few bulbs out which I appreciated, Brandon called to see if we wanted to replace them and our car was ready in less than 3 hours . I have had multiple experiences here in the service department at Subaru of Bend, some mildly ok (as in they did the work I asked them to do, but never to the degree that it needed to be done - such as replacing the cabin air filter when it very clearly needed it). They will upsell you on unnecessary services when you need a regular oil change (and if you say you don't want the unnecessary service, they will say they can't do the oil change, which is ludicrous). They keep zero records of anything - apparently they don't have a place in their system to put an authorization code from your warranty company (seriously?!?!). So when you wait 2+ months for your appointment, they then have no idea what you're talking about when you remind them that it's a warranty job and there's an authorization code. Even though we had multiple conversations about it - you'd think the service advisor would remember SOMETHING. But nope - and I understand it's next to impossible to remember every customer. But come on, there are solutions for this problem. After going around and around with them for three months about this repair, multiple trips to the dealership, multiple phone calls to both the service rep and parts department to order the part - not a single person has any record of anything, anywhere. How can they operate like this? Oh right, they can't. Additionally, I explained (multiple times at my other appointments AND when I made this latest appointment) that I don't live within the "free ride" zone, so I'd need a loaner car while they did the repair (as it was estimated to take all day). They said, "No problem! We can get you a loaner car that day - we don't reserve them." Ok, no problem - they've always gotten me a loaner car. But not today, not when they need it all day - so here I am, stuck in the dealership for the next 6-8 hours. No problem solving happening here. I'm about to buy a new car, and there is no way I would buy another Subaru only because I never want to set foot in this awful service department ever again to experience THE WORST SERVICE EVER. There are so many simple things they could do to make it a better experience for both customers and themselves - it's like they don't know how to run a service department. And they don't care because they are the only Subaru dealer in town. So there you go! Find somewhere else to go if you can - maybe you'll be ok a few times, but overall, they stink. read more

I don't know if it's the never ending construction at the dealership, the economy, or management but it seems like no one is happy that works there. My bet is management/ownership issues as that's usually the reason when every department is having issues. The sales manager was rude, the parts desk people are never in a good mood, they can't keep techs in the service center, and repairs don't get fixed. Very frustrated with their customer service. I have had numerous scenarios where I have called and left a message, and no one gets back to me. Then when I schedule something online, I get a call back just to let me know the time I had scheduled wasn't available, despite the online portal telling me the opposite. I am bumping the rating up to two because the people at the shop are very friendly and helpful. However, their operations seem to be dropping the ball constantly and are very inconsistent. Went here to get my timing belt replaced on my Outback. They were the cheapest (and now I'm finding out why). A week and a half later, my car stopped running. Had to get it towed over to Subaru for them to look at. They called the next day, telling me the timing belt had slipped off. It bent the pistons, so they had to send the cylinder head to the machine shop to be re-borred. It took a week. When I hadn't gotten a call back telling me that my car was ready, I called, and they told me the machine shop hadn't borred the head correctly, so they had to send it back to be borred again. Another week. When they still hadn't called me, I called again. They had gotten the head back, but they said there were cracks, so they were going to replace it. Another week. I called again, this time on a Thursday. I was told they'd gotten the new heads in, and it would be ready the next day. I told them I wouldn't be able to pick my car up until the next week. Since I hadn't heard back from them, I figured my car was ready. I made arrangements to get a ride over there, but as a precaution, figured I better call them to make sure. Wasn't ready. There were more issues with the heads fitting (did they not order OEM parts? I would hope so, since, y'know, they're Subaru). It wouldn't be till later in the week that my car was ready. I finally picked my car up on Friday (two days ago, a month later). I was told that the tensioner falling off was just a coincidence and technically not Subaru's fault, but that they replaced the upper half of my engine for free out of good faith. I was also assured, after asking, that they inspected everything that could've been affected by the tensioner breaking. Last night, I realized that oil was leaking from under my car. After a quick inspection, I noticed that the rear cam seal was not installed properly on both sides. That's where the oil was leaking from. If I hadn't noticed, my car would've leaked oil until it was dry, destroying my engine. I'll be dropping my car off today for them to look at tomorrow. This is just ridiculous at this point. Paid them over $700 initially for the timing belt and pulleys to be replaced - they can't afford to double-check, make sure gaskets are seated properly, oil isn't leaking? Especially after a month of having my car? While - for the most part - everyone is friendly there, the service is horrible. I was told the 'Subaru master tech' was the one working on my car, too. I understand mistakes happen, no matter how good you are, but c'mon! read more

f I could give zero stars I would. We had an extremely awful experience here at the subi dealer in Bend... We were on our way home to Idaho from the coast when we experienced some car trouble. Loss of power & check engine light came on. My husband took our 2016 Forrester in first thing in the morning only to be told there was nothing they could do because there were no codes to read. My husband called me to let me know and I told him that was unacceptable because we have a 1 year old & i am pregnant. Safety is my top priority and they needed to get it figured out. My husband ended up having to drive our subi hard enough for it to trigger the check engine light ( I can only imagine how bad that is for my car). Took it back and they were able to pull a code... Gave us a loaner car in the mean time... They called to let us know that it was going to be $800 in repairs. Changing 4 spark plugs & cleaning the gas intake. We purchased an extended warranty and it is still good. We were told it wasn't covered... I was also in contact with our local subi dealer who informed us that in fact it should've been covered under warranty and they didn't want to do it because they don't get paid as much. Our local dealer also informed us that Subaru spark plugs are guaranteed for 60-80,000 miles and that Subaru corporate should've been called to see if they could do anything else for us. Our car had just uner 46,000 miles on it. We were just going to buy the spark plugs and change them ourselves because what they charged us was RIDICUOULS. They pulled the "well its going to take us an hour to get your car "put back together" because we were just expecting you guys to say go ahead and do the work". So they basically gave us no choice except to have them do it. We also had 3 recalls that needed to be done 1 being a safety recall. They told my husband that they "didn't have time to do it". I was informed here from my local dealer that they weren't even supposed to let us leave with a safety recall. We also had multiple people from our local deal try to call from Nampa, ID and Bend told us that they received NO CALLS which was a total lie! The other issue I have is that my dad also called to just have them change the spark plugs and that it would cost $297, so when I went back in with my dad on speaker they told me that they never once said that... We were also informed that by Bend that if they were to have put it under warranty it would have only cost us our $100 deductible... So we paid $135 for a diagnostic fee and over $450 just for the spark plugs to be changed. It cost us $600 to fix our car "just enough" to get back home. I truly feel that we were treated unfairly and charged more because we were from out of town. I felt completely taken advantage of. The whole time we dealt with Chip Carmichael. He was extremely rude and not caring. We will also be contacting Subaru Corporate to inform them of our experience. read more

They never did anything to fix it and lied that they did. It just sat there and my portable speaker was missing when I got it back still with rattle. They are rude, incompetent and unprofessional.
