It was my first time at Stylus. I decided to venture this place after seeing great reviews from yelp- moreover it is very close to where I live. Jacqui was my hair stylist- she was amazing! She knows her job very well and was super friendly- gave me an excellent head and neck massage while shampooing my hair. At the end I was very happy with the style and length of my hair. The staff is also very friendly and takes care of their clients very well. It is a very affordable place in Belltown standards - yet with superior service and great ambience. I will definitely recommend this place to my other friends needing a change to their hair salons/stylists. read more

Have you noticed its getting cold in Seattle? This dry weather was ruining my skin :( Luckily, in stepped a fresh facial ($90) preformed by Colleen! It was one of the most relaxing hours of my life. My face was saved from the harsh weather and dryness, my skin came out absolutely glowing. It has looked amazing all week, and I am so happy and satisfied with the radiant skin I left with. The atmosphere at the salon is great, everyone was sweet and it was incredibly stylish and polished. Stylus is a wonderful salon. The space is professional, clean and comfortable. The staff know my name, offer me a drink right away, and my appointments always start and end on time. Their rates are on par/slightly more affordable than other quality salons in the area, in my experience. Ellen has been my hair stylist for the past 4 years and I absolutely adore her! She's taken me through two major (at least for me) style changes - first full bangs and then short and layered. She always listens to what I'm thinking and tells me how she'd make the look work best for my face shape and bone structure, and she also tells me the amount of effort it'll take to style before she starts cutting, which I really appreciate. I've also had her do an updo for an event and it was gorgeous - just like the picture I brought in. She's great with color as well. And as an added bonus, she's really fun to talk to. I followed Robert here. My hair cuts are still stellar, so I am happy. Its quite lovely if not a bit sparse. I do like the chandeliers and the the fact its all nice and white and light in there. Kimberly (the nail technician) here is a sweetheart. She's all about standing your ground, speaking up if you're unhappy and sassy nails. My hands felt super soft the next day. I also got my bangs trimmed by Andrea (I know, not the most thrilling thing to review) but she made sure to give me a few suggestions about what to ask for at my next hair appointment (she didn't even care that the appointment wasn't with her!). This review is for Anissa and Anna. A few weeks ago, I decided to try out Stylus for a brow wax appointment. I made an appointment with Anissa and it was such a nice experience! In the consultation - yes a consultation, not just an "okay, okay, sit down, *wax* - Anissa demonstrated a true understanding of brow shape and a talent for making it happen. I booked my next appointment at checkout. I've NEVER done that in the past. She's that good. This week, I decided it was time to give my roots some TLC. I checked out Stylus's reviews for their stylists since I'd had such a good experience with Anissa. I made an appointment with Anna and wow! Once again, just like Anissa, knowledgeable, friendly, and an expert in color. I had a few ideas for what I wanted - to cut out a bit of the red tone that my hair had faded to, and to try very subtle balayage for the first time. She hit it out of the park. I get my hair cut and colored by Robin Dupuy all the time and I've never been disappointed. This man knows what he's doing. Once he gets a feel for your style, he handles everything as soon as you get in the chair. I highly recommend anyone in the area in need of some good hair, check this place out. Matt is amazing! I've had such a hard time finding a hairdresser in seattle. I've been to at least 3 different hair dressers here and no one seems to be able to do the precision layering and exact shape I'm after. I've been to stylus twice now, and based on the recommendations on yelp, I chose to go to Anna. My hair is super thick and curly, and she was great about giving me inexpensive ways to calm it down and add moisture to the ends without making the roots look greasy. She also made sure to ask how often I want to come in and get my color redone and made a good suggestion based on my answer, that would ensure that I didn't have awful roots. While the first color wasn't light enough for what I was going for, Anna told me to come back and add toner to fix it free of charge. She's super friendly and is very knowledgeable about all kinds of hair. I would definitely recommend her. Yes, the salon is on the more expensive side ($60 for a cut/blowout) but if you don't get your hair done every other week, it's definitely worth it. read more

I have jet black Asian hair and it's always been really hard to lift to my the hair to get the right color. I've been going to Vain forever and for the last 3 times and I had to always go back and get it redone because they couldn't get my color right. Based on the high ratings and images of hair dyes from clients of Anna, I decided to give her a try. She was confident that she was able to lift my hair and get it the caramel color I've been requesting for. I came in the other day for an eyelash extension with Anissa and I was super impressed. She is cared about making sure the services she provides is top notch and that you're satisfied. She is also very knowledgeable and up-to-date with technique. Anissa also has great attention to details. After my eyelash appointment, I scheduled another appointment for a Brazilian sugaring. I've never tried sugaring before and it is way better than your traditional waxing with strips. Since it was my first time, Anissa explained the process of sugaring and the technique so I felt comfortable giving it a try. I followed Jeremy Novak here from the Lisa Power Salon and am so happy I did. He always works magic on my hair. In the past he did a reverse color on the brassy fake colored blond that I was, helping me transition to my true color, a gorgeous white. He has since cut it many times, always perfect, and I've had both long and short cuts. An added plus is his head massage during the shampoo, divine! I was worried about traffic and parking in Bell Town but had no problem getting on street parking at 11am. Loved Stylus's courteous front desk staff and their website. I booked an appointment with Colette for the next day (LOVE their online booking program). First, Colette is AMAZING. She's absolutely darling, really takes the time to understand what you're looking for, and then offers some great additional options without being pushy. She does a fantastic job and really pays attention to every little detail. I will definitely be back to Stylus to see her! Second, the salon is darling. I had the urge to cut a significant amount of hair off. I looked Stylus up on yelp and read a few reviews and I was sold. I gave them a call, they got me in the same day with Ellen. She is an absolute doll. She listened to me ramble on about my wants/likes/dislikes and then gave me one of the best hair cuts I've ever had. Its been about a week now and I've gotten so many compliments and just like I asked it only takes me about 5-8 minutes to do my hair in the morning. I never felt like products were pushed on me like other salons, but the one product I did buy has been awesome. Love this place! I first came in about a month ago and saw Ellen for a cut and color. I not only loved the great products but Ellen was friendly, wonderful and most importantly knew exactly how to make my hair look amazing! It was exactly what I wanted at an average Belltown price point. All of the staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating, you are definitely pampered when you walk into Stylus which makes the prices worth it. I've also recently been looking for a place to get sugaring downtown and thought of Stylus, so I checked out their prices online. They are very comparable to the other hair removal services in Belltown. Kelly did my brazilian for me and was also amazing, the environment was very relaxing and beautiful. And to top it off Kelly did a great job, she was quick but thorough and kept chatting to keep my mind from the uncomfortable-ness that comes with a brazilian. I am a huge fan of this salon! I get my hair done every 10-12 weeks and I've also done Brazilian sugaring. Ellen has been doing my hair for years and I actually trust her, unlike previous stylists at other salons. When I started growing my hair out, I had become terrified of stylists that said they were "just going to cut a half-inch" and next thing I knew the entire last five months of my life was on the floor in a heap. The first time Ellen cut my hair, I straight-up told her, "If you cut off more than I want you to, I'm not going to tip you." (That worked well.) Ellen always listens to my requests and suggests ways we barely-trim-any-at-all and style my hair during the grow-out phase so doesn't look awkward. The front desk staff is so wonderful, sweet and helpful. Sometimes salon girls are snobby but you won't encounter that kind of attitude at Stylus. The front desk manager has been there since the salon opened. Those of you familiar with salon operations know that front desk people come and go like the wind, so this is impressive! Couldn't be happier or feel more beautiful. I wouldn't see anyone other than Jacqui at Stylus! My curly/wavy hair has given me fits for most of my life. I should have reviewed Jacqui and Stylus a couple years ago when I first went there. Not only did I get an amazing, flattering cut that was better than I was imagining, she talked me through how to take care of my hair day-to-day so it looked as good as when I walked out of the salon. I've had cuts (short, layered, long) and color from Jacqui over the past few years and they have always been fun and easy to take care of. She really listens when I say I'm not spending more than a few minutes on my hair in the morning, and gives me something that I can take care of. I got highlights on Friday and Saturday got rave compliments from a stranger about my "natural" hair. I'm a ginger, and she's always given me color that never went brassy or faded poorly--a challenge for redheads. In fact, Jacqui's only fault is she sabotages herself by giving clients cuts and color that looks good for so long they don't have to come in as often! She's also a pleasure to talk to while the magic is happening. My mom comes up from Portland (seriously) every couple of months for a cut. I cannot recommend her enough. My highlights are so natural looking and they grow out extremely well. I like that she's honest about what color she thinks will work best for me given my complexion.
