I have had two appointments here and both were great. Robert Lam is the owner and he took care of me. He has a fabulous protocol for entering his hair salon. First, he has to buzz you in and then you get your temperature taken on one of those scanning machines. He asks you to use hand sanitizer and he sprays the bottom of your shoes with disinfectant. The hair salon is huge! Two floors. While he cuts your hair you can watch via a Camera set up next to your station on the mirror in front of you. It took some getting used to but it's great! Also, as a good businessman he also suggested visiting the neighboring businesses such as the nail salon etc. Very personable, he did a great job on my cut and my color was a bit of a mess from another salon and he made sure it looks better. I was on a mission to find a new hair salon because my old one was just way too far. This place looked very interesting and had great client photos so I decided to give it a go. Booking an appointment was super easy, they picked up right away and I was able to get in on the same day. I was so lucky to have met Robert, the store owner. He was super nice, easy going and knew exactly what he was doing. My hair cut came out better than I ever imagined. Damaged my hair! For some 35 years I've have had my hair color treated in cities I've lived: Chicago, Miami, New York and Paris - this is the first place that has damaged it. All the years of caring for my hair - time money and effort wiped out in this one appointment! When I communicated with the"stylist" and sent a photo they said it must have been the shampoo they used -- WHAT??? When we first starting talking about what he was going to do that day, the guy observed I had fine hair before starting, so .... ???!!! No gesture was made toward taking care of the problem, he took zero responsibility, told me to make an appointment for a deep conditioning treatment - something I could do on my own - had no time for me to come back in, said he was available the following week. I've tried communicating with the Salon manager who set me up with this place/"stylist" - she refuses to answer me. I am terribly disappointed that with all the care, time and money I give my hair, it seems the only solution to this damage is to cut it off -- and I have been patiently growing it out in a very healthy manner! COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL! I gave this "stylist" the formula my previous PROFESSIONAL stylist has been applying for 2 1/2 years -- how much easier could I have made this person's job? I wanted to update because I had Patrick do my makeup and hair for my wedding in September. I've only had my makeup done a few times professionally before, and I must say, despite the 20+ years of experience the stylist had, and the 10 or so years I knew him, Patrick did a much better job. Patrick's only been doing my hair for 2 years, but each and every time he knows exactly what's "me." It works the same way for makeup. We did my trial back in July, and while I thought it was amazing and that I looked better than I ever had before, my husband thought I didn't look like myself. I was bummed. I mentioned this to Patrick and he decided that he had to change it. He toned it down and I looked awesome. I was seriously impressed. If there's ever another reason I need to be made up like that, I'll call Patrick. My hair was equally amazing, and Patrick was so meticulous and made sure it was absolutely perfect. I have to give HUGE props to him for perfectly securing my hat & veil. Edit: I can't believe I forgot to say this. My dad has always been a very critical person. Critical of me ("If you would just lose 20lbs, you'd look so much better") especially. Needless to say, when he saw how Patrick had done my hair and makeup, my jaw hit the floor as he called me "gorgeous." I was in serious shock. Initially, Patrick took a few photos after my trial, which he sent me and I posted to facebook. I also sent them to my mom and my aunts, and my cousin decided to share them with my dad. He liked them so much that he insisted I give him copies of the photos, and has been on my case to get originals from Patrick (which I keep forgetting to ask for). I had a great experience at Styling Studio. Alana was my stylist. She was very sweet and I was very! very! happy she was able to bring my hair back to life! My hair is a challenge to work with some times. I have wavy hair in some areas, curly in others, and strait in the rest. She went through a step by step list of what she was going to do before hand, which I thought was very respectful. It mad me feel comfortable & relaxed. I loved that the overall experience didn't feel rushed, which in the past for some reason I always felt like my hair appointments were always being rushed, which leaves you feeling unimportant. It was only serendipity that brought me to Patrick's chair at a salon other than this one. I had cancellations in my schedule so I decided on the spur of the moment to get my hair cut. Patrick, normally booked pretty solid, also had cancellations because of the snow, and so I met the best stylist my hair has even know. I'm a Pilates instructor so I need hair that doesn't require a lot of effort. I went in and showed him a picture that I liked, and told him that the cut needed to look good even when I didn't style it because on most days I don't. Ever since, I have never had a bad hair day. He's always been there for me to prevent bad hair decisions. I once came in and wanted to 'cut it all off" in response to a breakup. He told me no, and said that the next time I came in if I still wanted a short cut, he would happily oblige. Nail tech Connie is very precise, very patient and very thorough. If you're the kind of person that'd rather just do things yourself than to let other people do it because you're an extreme perfectionist... Connie is your other self as it pertains to your nails. I've been getting my nails done for about 13 years and Connie is the best I've ever had. She's just so careful and precise and does't miss anything! She has a very delicate touch too for those with sensitive fingers. Also, if you like designed/fantasy nails she has a whole book of things she does. I don't know if she takes walk ins but I made an appointment and was taken right away. Five stars for Michele Lynn, my hairstylist at the Styling Studio. I've been seeing ML for three years. She was my first hairstylist when I moved downtown. At that time, I was suffering from a truly heinous haircut, and I needed help -- fast. She was featured in Chicago Magazine as one of the best stylists in the city so I figured I would see if she could rectify the problem. I filled out the online reservation form, and I was in her studio within a day. I wholeheartedly put my trust in her, and she worked her magic. For three years, she's been giving me great haircuts. I've never had more compliments on my hair in my life. My hair has shortened over my time with ML... I started with long hair, and now I have a pixie; she does it all, and she does it well. Not to mention that she's one of the nicest women I've ever met. I will continue to go to ML as long as I live in the city/she cuts hair. She only recently moved into the Styling Studio. So, I have been getting my nails done by Deborah Anthony for years. The five star rating is for Deborah, as I have never used any of the other services or personnel at the Styling Studio. As a client, I followed Deborah from a spa where she was previously employed. She does excellent work and is very serious about cleanliness and health standards. You won't find Illegal toxic glues here - no face masks and gloves while your nails are being done (and if you go to one of those places, you better run or get your own face mask to wear). You know the products being used on you by Deborah are safe. Parking is usually readily available on the street near the salon, but there are some metered side streets a block away for days where the south loop is hopping. While I'm a Shellac no-chip gal, Deborah also has a great selection of colors in good, quality conventional polish brands. I have been resisting writing a review because I do not want Deborah's book to get so full that I cannot get my own nails done. However, it isn't really fair to keep her to myself. This probably is not a place you have walked past, but it is a place you need to go to if you want your nails done right!! read more

Had a coupon for $20 off haircut. I have short hair and thought why not try out the reopen salon to support the neighborhood business. The haircut was okay but the cut cost me $55 with the discount. I was not very happy with this. I thought they are to hungry for money and not thinking about gaining business or a repeat customer.
